Benefits of the Son of God to us no. 14

Protection from the Wrath of man

Saturday, September 25, 2004

Rev. Brian Kocourek

The Fourteenth benefit or promise of God to us concerning His Son is that it brings protection to us from the wrath of man, and in fact will cause the wrath of man to praise Him.

Daniel 3:25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

Here we find a reference in the old testament to the Son of God, and in this reference we see that the saints are actually protected from the fiery furnace by the presence of the Son of God.

In this next verse we see the prayer of Jesus to His Father and I want you to notice how he declares this protection for his own.   JOHN 17:12  While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name (I observed them and persevered them) those that thou gavest me I have kept, ( I observed them and persevered them) and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. (notice we see here that the protection is to keep them from being lost. And he says, the only one I lost is the one ordained to be lost, Judas the son of perdition.) 13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. 14  I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, (notice the reason that the world hates them, because he gave us the Fathers Word, and this shows they are not of the world) because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. (Now the same Greek word tereo is used here as has been used for each of these times that Jesus has used the word keep or kept. So we see that it is actually God Himself, our Father that does the Keeping, and not the Son of God, but that we might understand that it was God in Christ that does such for us.) 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17 ¶  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

LUKE 11:21  When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: 22 But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. 23 He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.

JOHN 12:25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep (shall observe it and preserve) it unto life eternal. 26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

II THESSALONIANS 3:1  Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as [it is] with you: 2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. (now the word Lord in this sense is the word kurios which means the one to whom a person or thing belongs.) So the one who owns you will also keep you.

And the Apostle Paul tells us in ROMANS 14:8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.

So you see, that the Lord in taking good care of you is showing Himself as a Good and Faithful steward keeping and maintaining al that is in His own Trust.

II TIMOTHY 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. (Notice again here that the Apostle Paul tells us that it is He that holds fast and keeps that which has been committed unto Him. Then if he does it, we should do the same, because after all it is not you doing it, but he that liveth in you that is doing it, and that can do it.) 13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

II PETER 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast [them] down to hell, and delivered [them] into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; 5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth [person], a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; 6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; 7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: 8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with [their] unlawful deeds;) 9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

You see, what have we to fear. God knows how to deliver you from harms way.

HOW CAN I OVERCOME 63-0825M   55    He sees that the Church has to go through the tribulation period for purification. I say the Blood of Jesus Christ purifies the Church. See? It needs no... I believe that the church goes through the tribulation period, church organization, but the Bride does not. Would you chose a woman you had to purify before you married her? Christ's Bride is chosen, and She is elected, and She's God's Bride, the Bride of Jesus Christ.

\

GOD HIDING HIMSELF IN SIMPLICITY 63-0412E E-117    No good teacher believes that the church, the bride... The church goes through the tribulation, but not the bride. The church goes through for purification, sure, under the sixth seal. Right. Israel does the same thing, for the hundred and forty-four thousand, but not the bride. There's... The bride's forgiven. She goes straight to glory in a rapture. That's right. She's... My opinion, the last member will be caught up one of these days. It might come, and you wouldn't know nothing about it. Remember, it's a secret, secret catching away. He'll come an hour that you think not. You won't know nothing about it; she'll be gone, be too late then.

ONLY ONE WAY PROVIDED BY GOD  63-0731   185    There won't be one building setting by another one in Chicago one of these days or nowhere else. God is fixing to rain out that sixth seal upon the earth, break that seal and turn loose the wrath of God upon the earth. But before He does that, the Church will be gone. The Bride will be gone; the church won't; she'll go through the tribulation, but the Bride will be gone. His little wife won't go through that.

II PETER 3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness. 18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

JUDE 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, [be] glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Notice we see that it is Him that keeps you from falling and not yourself.

JOSEPH MEETING HIS BRETHREN  56-1230   E-30  Now, we're well acquainted with the characteristics of the Old Testament. How that all the old things was a shadow (Hebrews 11), a shadow of the things that are to come. How beautiful that is: how God foreshadows. And when we feel this shadow as it was, we know that there's something beyond here, that God in His omnipotence in His great infinite mind, seeing something just fixing to happen; He could forewarn it. He could make everything work together, even the wrath of man to praise Him.   E-31 Even someone who treats you evil, as we're going to get after a bit if the Lord willing, how that Joseph's brother treated him evil, and he turned right back around and took that and made them praise Him. So, we haven't got a thing to worry about, not a thing.

PSALMS 76:10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.

JAMES 1:19  Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: 20    For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
