This morning I
want to pick up where we left off, at [pp.
63] of brother Branham’s message “Christ
Revealed in His Own Word”. But
before we read, I want to share this thought that came to me while I was in
prayer the other morning, and it came to me in a strange way. I kept hearing in my mind, a certain
scripture, but it was being quoted to me as follows. “The humble shall inherit the earth.” Now, I know that the scripture
[Matt 5:5] uses the words “The meek
shall inherit the earth”, but yet it kept coming to me as “the humble
shall inherit the earth.” And I
thought much of brother Howard Davis, and how humble he was. Now this word
humble that I am speaking of is a word which also means meek. And it is not a
condition in which we are born. But through the trials and testing we go
through God shapes our character to become humble and meek.
[1 Peter 4: 1-2] We can see then that
through suffering we are actually arming ourselves with the same mind set or
attitude as Christ had. NIV: uses
the word attitude hear, and the Amplified uses the words, thoughts and
purpose... And so we see that if we are to receive the same attitude that Jesus
had, then we will find it the same way he did. I know that there is none of us
who wants to suffer in his or her body, but Brother Branham told us, “as Jesus came so must we come.” And what
was this attitude that Jesus had? What did suffering do for Him?
[Hebrews 5:8-9] Notice that He learned
obedience by the things that He suffered. Now this is important for us to know,
because if you can not see this scripture here, you will surely not understand
the Godhead either. Most people in this message today are oneness, and although
that is closer than three-ness, yet it is far from the truth. For to make Him
All God and not human, then you toss
out the great sacrifice that He did for you and I. Most people don’t know what
to do with the body of Jesus. Some in this message would make it comatose,
while others would make it God. The body was not God but God dwelt in the Body.
He was not, “God the Son”, He was the “Son of God”. And there’s a dig
difference. It was a man who died for you and I; my Brother, and your Brother.
And Jesus was His name. It seems we want to think that His flesh was only a
badger skin, or some sort of a veil, but He was a man. And yet God was in
Christ reconciling the world to Himself. And yet it was not God that died, for
He can not die. It was the Son of God that Died. He had to lay down His own
Life, and You can’t tell me He was not afraid to do it.
I want you to
notice carefully [Hebrews 5: &
verse 7] It says he tearfully
pleaded and petitioned His father to deliver Him out from the death which He
had to suffer, and he shed tears from the fear of having to go through with it.
[Luke 22:41-46] It is our slumbering
that has kept us from having a truly heart wrenching experience before God.[Proverbs 24:30-34]
[Hebrews 5: & verse 7] We also see in this verse that His
reverence toward God and His Fear toward God was greater than His Fear of
Death. WUEST: The Lord Jesus in the days of His flesh, He offered up special,
definite petitions for that which He needed, and supplications, doing this with
strong cryings and tears to the One who was able to save Him from within death
( in order to raise Him out from the state of death) and was heard on account of His Godly fear. Though He were a Son of God
by Nature, yet learned He obedience from the things that He suffered... The
Amplified says, “He was heard because of His Reverence toward
God”, and the NIV says , “He was heard because of His Reverent
submission to God.”
So this morning I
have but one theme, or one point that I want to make more than perfectly clear
to all of us, and that is this, “If Jesus had a deeply moving reverent
submissive fear toward God, and He cried tears and sweat out drops of blood in
earnest prayer, (which to me showed
that He had a truly deep conviction and sincerity and earnestness in His
petitions to God), then where do you and I stand this morning. Have we fallen
asleep as the slumbering virgins of Matthew 25 who heard the midnight cry and
did not make ready their vessels of oil.
We are looking at
True Humility here, for the Meek shall
inherit the earth. Now to [pp. 64]
We have already seen that we can arm ourselves through suffering, yet we would
rather sleep. I really feel that the spirit of slumber has fallen upon the
peoples of the earth and she is being lulled to sleep away this great hour that
we live in. we need to pinch ourselves, and be prepared in this hour that we
live.

in His Own Word #54

[1 Peter 5:10] After you have suffered awhile, then we are strengthened, and made
complete.
Now, I would like
to propose to us this morning, that the suffering we suffer, has to do with this body that we are stuck
with until our change, and knowing that we must give an account for what we do
in the flesh.
[64 ] When you're born, God sets a record on, It
don't make much noise for a little while, you know; that's the little baby till
it comes to accountability. Then the noise starts. He starts saying things and doing things he has to answer for.
And then when that life ends, that
record or tape is took off and laid in the great big library of God... Now, how you going to get around it at the
judgment bar? It's played right back
in front of you: Every move you made, every thought that went through your
mind. Can you see that?
[Matt 16:27] This speaks of a Judge
[1 Cor 3:8b] Every man shall receive his
own reward for his labor
[Hebrews 2:1-4] We ought to give the
more earnest heed, especially since the Word has been vindicated.
[Rev 22: 12]
This in itself
ought to cause us to be careful how we live. [Phil 4:6-13]
[1 Cor 10:11-14] Take heed lest ye also
fall after the same form of unbelief.
[Hebrews 3:12]
[Romans 7:14-25] If the law was carnal
then it could be fulfilled in our flesh.
[Romans 8: 1-18] The things that we
suffer are not worthy to be compared to the glory. Yet the whole creation is
groaning now, suffering in this body of this death
[2 Tim 2: 11-12] If we suffer, we shall
also reign with Him
[Hebrews 11: 24-27] Moses chose to
suffer with Gods people rather than enjoy the wealth of Egypt
[1 Peter 2:19-21] : [1 Peter 3:12-17] [1 Peter 4: 18-19]
[Phil 1: 27-2:18] It is given to us on
His Behalf, not only to believe but suffer. let this attitude be in you.
[Eph 4:23] Be renewed in the attitude of
your mind.
[2 Thess 1: 3-7] Our suffering comes
from our stand we take on this Word.
[1 Tim 4: 6:10] suffer reproach for the
word sake.
HUMBLE
[James 4:6-10] God resisteth the proud
and gives grace tot he humble
[1 Peter 5:5-6]
[Col 3:12]
[Matt 18:4, 23:12]
