The Five Fold Ministry
Brian Kocourek
I really believe it is the job of the
Holy Ghost to teach you, but God always uses ministers to do it.
Acts 8:30 And Philip
ran thither to him, and heard him read the
prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest
thou what thou readest? 31 And
he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired
Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock,
over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of
God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
Romans 10:14-17 How then
shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and
how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and
how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And
how shall they preach, except they be sent? as
it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of
peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But
they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias
saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So
then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the
word of God.
Martin Luther in his comments on these verses said,
"Even though they say
they hear, they boast in vain, unless they hear true preachers; for to hear
false prophets means as much as not to hear. They hear and they do not hear.
They have ears, but do not hear, nor do they preach The True Word of God. There
are four statements which follow one another is such as way that one leads to
the other, but so that the last forms the foundation on which the others rest. Thus, 1. It is impossible that those preach who are not
sent. 2. It is impossible that those hear who are without a preacher. 3. It is
impossible that they believe who do not hear. 4. It is impossible that they
call upon Him who do not believe. To these must be
added a fifth, it is impossible that they who do not call upon the name of the
lord shall be saved. So, then, the entire source and origin of salvation rests
on this, that God sends out someone, (a true minister
of the Word). If He does not send out any, then they
who preach, preach falsely, and their preaching is no preaching at all. In
fact, it would be better for them not to preach. Then also, they who hear, hear error, and it would be better for them not to
hear. Then also they who believe, would believe false
doctrine, and it would be better for them not to call. For such preachers, do
not preach; such hearers do not hear; such believers do not believe; such
callers do not call; they will be damned because they would be saved by
falsehood. As we read in Proverbs
Now, we know what Paul said in Romans 10, and we know what he said in 2 Corinthians 11, and
again in the book of Galatians, that if they receive a wrong word, then they will receive a wrong spirit. How then can we think that anyone who sits under a
wrong ministry and has a wrong conception of the message has the right spirit,
which is the Holy Spirit? A wrong conception is a wrong quickening to life. Conception
means to quicken to life.
We know Peter said, in 1 Peter
Then to receive a wrong Word is to
receive a wrong seed, and therefore must produce a wrong spirit or a wrong life.
How can it be any other way.
1John 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth
us; he that is not of God heareth not us.
Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of
error.
Did you know that brother Branham said we must have a
right teaching in order to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit? To receive the Seal of God? And if you don't receive the
seal of God there is only one seal left and that is the seal of Satan, which is
the mark of the beast.
Now notice that Jesus up to this point in
the parable in Luke chapter
6 has been speaking about not
following blindly, because you could be following someone who is as blind as
you are. And then he tells us that if your teacher has rightfully equipped you, then you will become as
that teacher. In other words, you
will think like him, and speak like him, and act like him. Now that is not to
say that you are to look at his flesh, but we are guided by one thing and that
is the Word of God.
II Timothy 4:3-5 For the time will come when they will not
endure sound doctrine, (This means
they will no longer put up with correct teaching); but after their own lusts shall they heap to
themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away [their] ears
from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (Now, it is really strange how people could actually
be so stupid that they would rather listen to fables and stories than to hear
the Truth, but just look at Roman Catholicism, it's full of stories and fables
and made up things, and yet their are over 800 million people who believe it.)
So we are commanded to: " But watch thou in all things
( and this is essential, to watch means to keep an eye
on what is happening, to be observant), and that is the key.
Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some,
prophets; and some, Evangelists; and some, Pastors and Teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry,
for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come
in The unity of Tthe Faith, and of The
knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the
stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth
be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of
doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning
craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the
truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
Acts
Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake
unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye
therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: (and we know there is only one name that fits those three
titles and that is the Lord Jesus Christ) 20 Teaching them to observe
all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Seventy Weeks of Daniel 89-141 SUNDAY_ 61-0806 5 Many times people hear from tapes, and
they say, "Well, I disagree with that. He just don't know his teaching,
doesn't know the Scripture." Well, that may be all true. See, I wouldn't
say that isn't true, but to me, I study it, not taking any words... I read what
other men has to say and appreciate them. And
everything that anyone says, I appreciate it. But then I take it to God, and I
stay with it until I can explain it from Genesis to Revelation, and then see it
all hook up in the Bible, and then I know it's somewhere near right. And
'course, where you're right, that's just one place that I got off of the
line at. And maybe where you're wrong or right, that's where I got off the
line, and vice versa.

E-13 And I looked at him, and I called him
by name. I'm afraid to say it, 'cause many of you know him. And I said,
"Doctor, I'm surprised that a man of your caliber, a servant of Christ,
would ask another servant of Christ to compromise on the Word of God."
That's right. I said, "I'm surprised at you saying that." He said, "Well, we think that
you're wrong in your conception." I said, "Then correct me by the
Scripture." That's the way it is. I said, "Then correct me."
See? And I said, "I
would not compromise on the Word of God." No, sir."
You
see, there are a few guys going around and saying, "You know, Branham he's
off the Word, and they say, Vayle you know he's off the word, and you know
Kocourek, he's off the word. But brother, if you got the Scripture to show
where I'm off the word come to me. I asked them to come with their Bibles open,
but will they do it? No, sir.
In
fact one that said I'm false to me, and I said if I am false then show you are
obligated by this Word to show me in the Word where I'm off. He said, "you know the Bible better than me so I can't do it".
Then how am I off if you don't even know what Scripture you think I am wrong
with? You can't show me where I'm wrong by the Bible but you will hold to your
stubborn idea that I must be wrong somehow? If that isn't a seed of discrepancy
I do not know what to call it?
What
they are basing their concept on is just feelings. And the Bible never said do
you feel it, It said, "do you believe it".
If you can not base what you believe based on the Bible then you are still lost
in your sin which is unbelief.
Identified with Christ 59-1220E 39 Listen, friends. Don't try to depend
and seek sensations. Instead, rely upon realities (See?), not sensation.
Shouting's all right; speaking in tongues is all
right; praising the Lord's all right; faith for miracles is all right, all
those things and those feelings... Some of them say, "Oooh,
I felt It like a rushing wind." Another one say,
"I felt fire in my soul." What... That doesn't make it right either
way. It's what you are after you have received It.
See? That's what counts. See? So you can't pin It
to any certain sensation. Now, that's honestly the best that I know. Now,
I may be wrong; if I am, then I misunderstand the Scripture. And if it's
contrary, well, I don't mean to be contrary. See? But I'm just telling it my
version of what I believe that is Truth.
