“Doctrine no 6”
Voice of the Doctrine
Brian Kocourek
Isaiah 28:8
For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so
that there is no place clean. 9 ¶To whom shall He teach
knowledge? and to whom shall He make to understand the
doctrine?
Let us pray...
You may be seated.
From his sermon, We have found Him 54-0825 P:8 brother Branham said, "Now, I wish to read a little Scripture at this time. And I
know that my words is the word of a man. This is
God's Word, the Bible. And all Scriptural doctrine must be based upon this Word. If it's anything
contrary to the Word, it's not right. It must come out of the Bible. And no matter who would come to you,
prophet, priest, potentate, what, if he speaks contrary to this, it's not right.
This is the Word."
And from his sermon, Seed of discrepancy
65-0118 P:23 "We
are all, most all of us read the Bible. And now, like when Jesus come, and He
found that discrepancy, contrary... He was the Word made manifest; He
was God's interpretation of the Word, because He said, "Search the Scriptures, for in Them
you think you have Eternal Life, and They are They that testify of Me." There you are. He was the interpretation of the
Word. And every borned again son and daughter of God of this age is the
interpretation of the Word. You are written
epistles, read of all men. Yes. Notice, He
said, "In vain they do worship Me, teaching
discrepancy for doctrine. In vain do they
worship Me, teaching for doctrine the discrepancy,
doctrine of man, creeds of man, teaching that to be the Word of God, when it
has nothing to do with the Word of God."
Therefore, tonight I want to continue to
examine Doctrine, correct Bible doctrine, and to help us to understand that it
is not whether you know the doctrine or not that counts, but whether your Life
echoes the doctrine. Whether your life manifests the doctrine is what counts. Whether you live it. That's what counts.
As brother Branham said in his sermon Rising of the sun 65-0418M P:14 As people today are trying to
say, we should wash feet once a year on Thursday, and on Friday we should take
the communion, and all different doctrines of... They argue about
whether it should be this day or that day, or whether it should be a sabbath day or the first day of
the week or... All
these things are just merely tradition. What good would any of it do you,
whether you had Lent or not Lent, if there's no Life in you. It's only a
memorial, which there's nothing against it, but they have certainly carried out
their traditions but left off the main thing. Satan doesn't care how religious you are, or how right
you are in your doctrine; if you miss that Life, you won't come up anyhow.
No matter how religious, how good, how many churches you've belonged to or
will belong to, it doesn't matter one thing unless you have been born again.
Therefore, if God raised up Jesus from the dead, did
He raise Him up for a memorial? and is this
resurrection morning only a one day in the year or a certain day that we
celebrate this, or are we benefactors of His resurrection? What does it
mean to me? What does it mean to you? Now, we believe by faith that He raised
from the dead, but what has that got to do with me? That was two
thousand years ago.
Now, those are very good questions he is
leading up with. And what good does it do you if you have the right doctrine
anyway? If that doctrine has not produced the Life of Christ in your then what
good will it do you?
Now, last Sunday we continued to speak
on the subject of Doctrine and we took our thoughts more specifically on what
brother Branham said concerning Doctrine that it is the voice of the Sign. We
showed how that God always brings forth His Signs and vindicates His Prophet
before that prophet ever brings forth one little doctrinal teaching. Sure God
sends the prophet to instruct the people, but God must vindicate that prophet
before he comes with his Message, or you don't have to believe him.
This evening we will pick up where we
left off on Sunday.
Notice God said, "to whom shall He make to understand the doctrine."
if you recall Sunday we showed you also that the Word Logos not only means
"the Word" But it also means doctrine or teaching.
In the Lamsa translation, which was
taken from the original Aramaic language, we see the word "report" used in place of the word doctrine.
LAMSA: Isaiah 28:8-9 For all tables are full of
vomit and filthiness, so that
there is no place clean. To whom shall he teach
knowledge, and whom shall he make
to understand the report. Those who are weaned from the milk and drawn
from the breasts. For filth is upon filth, filth upon filth, vomit upon vomit,
vomit upon vomit; a little here, a little there; For with difficult
speech and with an alien tongue
will he speak to this people.
For I have said to them, This is the place
of my rest wherewith I may cause
the weary to rest, and this is the
place of tranquility; but they
would not listen. So their Word of the Lord
was to them filth upon filth, filth upon filth vomit upon vomit vomit
upon vomit a little
here little there that they might return
and fall backwards an be broken
and snared and taken.
The
We
see also the New International Version
uses the word "Message"
as well instead of the word doctrine,
because that is what the doctrine is, it is a Message or teaching.
Isaiah 28:8-9 NIV All the
tables are covered with vomit and there is not a spot without filth. 9 "Who is it he is trying to teach? To whom is he explaining his message?
I hope you have noticed
that no matter what translation we've read, they all speak how the Message, Doctrine
or report having become polluted
because it says all the tables are covered in
vomit.
Now, that is a very
sordid picture of the
condition of the pulpits which are typed with tables. Because who wants to eat
from a table covered with vomit, yet the churches are filled with such tables
where the people come each week to hear a sermon, from another era gone by. We
know that vomit is the food from another day regurgitated back up and spit out.
And that is what God says the churches are eating from.
And we are told in Proverbs 26:11 As a dog returns to his vomit, so a
fool returns to his folly.
But we are not ordained to be conformed to
the image of a dog, but of the very Life of Jesus Christ the son of God. And
since he is the Original Seed, we know that we are to come forth after his kind
or nature.
Spoken word original seed 62-0318M P:135 Then the kind of seed you have planted in your field will be the kind of
crop you will reap. If the denominations wants more members, that's what
they're going to get. That's what they have gotten. The Pentecostals wants more
Pentecostals; that's what they're going to get. That's right. But the Word's
going to produce sons and daughters of God. Uh-huh, uh-huh. That's coming
too. Watch, look at that great latter rain supposed to be done, how they would
run over the wall, and leap over, and how they'd be an army coming. Just wait a
minute. Uh-huh. The kind of crop you'll get is the kind of seed you put in
your field.
Spoken word original seed 62-0318M P:96 I'm a Branham because I was
borned of Charlie and Ella Branham. That makes me a Branham because I'm
their seed. Their two agreements with their sperm together made a seed, and
that made me. When God and His Word becomes one (Hallelujah.) that's
when God's Spirit waters the Seed of God, the Word of God, It
produces God; and it's not the individual; it's God. For what? you are dead; you're not yourself no
more. You
reckon yourself dead, hollowed out, waiting for the Seed germ. Then what is
it? It isn't you no
more; isn't the man; it's God in the man. It's a Seed germ like the
beginning spoken Word. God's Word made manifest in the man; then it isn't
the man; it's the man that's died. He can't be a hybrid and a son at the
same time. He's either a son of death or a son of Life. So if he's a son
of death, give it over to the devil and let him kill it. Give over to God a
minute and let Him kill the devil that's in you, run him out: hollows you out. Then let God plant His Own Life
in you, then it's not you no more; it's God's Life, because it's God's Word,
watered by the Holy Spirit will produce the same thing. You see it?
I'd just love to preach on that a few minutes, but with thirty or forty pages
of Scripture here... And I've only got three so far.
Spoken Word is the original Seed 62-0318M 89
The works that Jesus did--if a man has the Seed of God in him with the
Spirit of God watering that Seed, the same works that Jesus--was manifested in
Jesus, Him being the original Seed of God, His death brings you back to the
original Seed of God, and if the same Spirit that was within Him is in you,
then the same works will be manifested. You don't believe that? All right,
let's turn over to
I will restore 54-0809A P:35
Jesus
said, "Every Word
of God is a Seed."
Is that right? A sower went forth sowing seed. He
said, "I, the Son
of man, has sowed the Seed, and the seed's the Word of God." And every time you see
this Bible say anything, it's a Seed, and it's absolutely... And we're sowed with the incorruptible
Seed of God. And if a man will take any Divine
promise of God in his heart and water it with faith, it'll produce just exactly
what it said it would do. Amen. Don't care what it is. Just take
God's promise in your heart and there...
Now, look, I have always taught that you must become your revelation.
Abel offered unto God a bleeding dying lamb, and he became a bleeding dying
lamb, because that was the Seed of God in Him. As Jesus said, for this purpose
have I come into the World. He knew His purpose and
stepped into it, and became His revelation. And Paul said, We
live by the faith, the revelation of the son of God.
Why I am a holy roller 53-0830A P:46
If a man's borned with the Spirit of God he becomes a son of God, a nature
of God; and the things of the world dies out, when you do it. That's right. Oh, how
wonderful. Here a grain of wheat can't do nothing but
produce wheat. Its seed, its beginning is a wheat. And
we're
sowed with the incorruptible Word of God. And if we're sowed with the incorruptible Word of God, and the Holy Spirit
watering this seed, it can bring nothing forth but reproduce the life of Jesus
Christ in every one of His believers. God help the
day that when men and women will be just what they are.
Now in getting back
to Isaiah. No wonder they are
called foolish virgins in Matthew
25. No wonder they missed the coming of the bride Groom, they were
feeding on tables full of vomit, yesterdays message.
And Peter told us it's
dogs that return to their own vomit. 2 Peter
So it is no compliment for sure when God says their tables are full of
vomit. food from another day, and yet it's on their
table and they are serving it to their people.
Brother Branham said from his sermon, Sirs
we would see Jesus 64-0318 P:16 Now, if
we looked around tonight, and we'd go back to some of these great churches, all
the way down through the age and say, "This is it. This is it." if
you don't watch we'll be walking in a glare instead of a light. We're
looking at something that passed years past, looking back. Any man who drives
the road looking through the rearview mirror will wreck up. That's right.
That's right. You take, like some of our sisters trying, fifty years old,
trying to look sixteen (See?), you're looking back. Look forward. Look where
you're going to. Look where you're going, not what you come from. Paul said,
"Forgetting those things that are in the
past, I press towards the mark of the high calling in Christ." You must always look where you're going, not
where you been. If you watch the rearview mirror, you will soon wreck up. That's
been the trouble. That's the reason that Luther wrecked up when Wesley's
light come on. That's the reason that Wesley wrecked up when the Pentecostals
come on. And if we don't watch it, the Pentecostals is going to wreck up too, if
you just don't keep on your toes to watch. You see, you're always
looking back, referring to what somebody else did back there when we're
commanded to look forward, keep going on. Their prophecy happened in their
days; this happens in this day; and next happens in the next day. It's
allotted out to the end-time. And there's things that's supposed to be going
on now according to the Scripture, the Holy Spirit on earth poured out upon the
people.
Doors in door 65-0206 P:21
Man is forever praising God for what He did do, looking forward for what He
will be, and ignoring what
He's doing. That's just the nature of man. And he hasn't changed his nature, the
man of the world.
God in simplicity 63-0317M P:65
Many miss Him by the way He reveals Himself. Now, man has their own ideas
of what God ought to be and what God is going to do; and as I have made the
old statement many times that man still remains man. Man is always giving
God praise for what He did do, and always looking forward to what He will do, and ignoring what He's doing.
See, see?
That is exactly what
happens to those who turn down the Voice of the Sign. They go backwards as hard
as they can back into Pentecost where they came out from. And notice what they
do. They look for more signs because they didn't listen to the Voice of the Sign.
Now, let's keep moving on as we read
from Matthew
Now
the word "astonished"
does not mean "to be amazed"
as though you heard this wonderful thing and you were simply amazed by what was
said. It actually was translated from the Greek word, "ekplesso" 1605 {ek-place'-so} which means "to
be so amazed and astonished that you to strike out or try to expel it by a blow, or drive it out or away; to cast off by a blow,
to drive out; to strike with panic, shock, astonish; to be struck with
amazement, astonished, amazed".
So
you see this doesn't speak positively about these people as though they somehow
were so amazed but rather the Gospel is telling us they rejected what Jesus
said, and they did it with anger. In fact they were so angered by Jesus
Doctrine that they sought to find a way to destroy him.
Mark 11:18 And
the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him:
But whose Doctrine was Jesus bringing to the people? Because if you know
whose doctrine it is then you will know whose Voice it is.
And we find out answer in John
So we find the Apostle John telling us in II
John 1:9 Whosoever
transgresseth, (Whosoever
goes beyond the limits) and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. (Now,
this is very important because if we do not have the doctrine of Christ we do
not even have God, so we must ask ourselves what is the Doctrine of Christ, and
John gives us our answer.) He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. (Therefore if you
have a doctrine of Christ and it does not have BOTH the Father and Son in it,
you have not God.)
10 ¶ If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine,
receive him not into [your] house, neither bid him God speed:
That’s pretty strong words
the Apostle John is saying here, but there is a good reason why he said this,
because a little leaven will leaven the whole lump.
And leaven is the doctrine of the Pharisees
which rejected the Son of God.
I John
Therefore, you must have
doctrine, especially the Doctrine of Christ or you
don’t even have a ministry.
And that is exactly what brother Branham said in his sermon, Revelations Chapter 5 part 2 61-0618 66
Any man that has not a doctrine has not a ministry.
In fact without out a
doctrine, He said you don’t even have a church. You might have a lodge, but
according to brother Branham you can’t have a church.
From his sermon, Palmerworm
Locust Caterpillar 59-0823 19 brother Branham said,
"But, yet, a church without a doctrine is just like a jellyfish; it has no
backbone. So, we've got to have backbone in it."
And again in his Questions and
Answers 59-0628E
363-12 brother Branham said, "But as a church and as a peoples, a congregation,
we have to have a doctrine that we stand
for in order to be a church. And this doctrine that we stand for, is the best of our knowledge to the Word of God, the
Truth of God."
And the real truth of it
is, is that "every church does has
a doctrine or teaching that they hold to" whether they want to
admit it or not. And they thought Jesus had a wrong spirit because of the way
he hit at theirs.
Now, Another thing I want to say is this, I get criticized by some for
pounding away at unbelief the way I do, but if you are honest you can not read
the Gospels and see Jesus Christ coming with a passive Message. He didn't. He
pounded away at sin, and so did John the Baptist and for what it's worth so did
all the prophets. why were they hated so by the
people? Because they came teaching pleasant things?
I'll tell you another thing. If you think God ever sent any Messenger to
the people to tell them pleasant things, then you sure don't know your Bible, and I doubt very much that you've read it with your
mind open to the words of God.
Investments 62-1124B E-43 These orthodox people who were casting down
Jesus, casting down the policy and saying it was no good, it could not be
trusted... He was a man making Himself God; He was a
Beelzebub; He was a wild man; He had no background; He was illegitimately born;
He didn't go to their schools; He wasn't educated in their seminaries; He was against their doctrine; He was
tearing up their churches; and His
doctrine was hindering the people: that's
what He was claimed to do. Called Him Beelzebub, said He deceived the people by His doctrine.
Taking sides with Jesus 62-0601 787-213 Now, they
wasn't Spirit-filled, but they were loyal and held to the modern creed of their
leaders. See? All right. His ministry was showing up their doctrine.
Godhead Explained 61-0425B 34-3
Here not long ago a man got up here at the Chatauqua
and said, "Brother Branham is a prophet." I don't claim to be no
prophet. See? But he said, "Brother Branham is a
prophet when he is under the Spirit of discernment,"
but said, "Oh, his doctrine
is poison; be careful with it." I thought of
an educated man would say a thing like that. What does a "prophet"
mean? "A Divine
interpreter of the Word." The Word of the Lord came to the
prophet. You see?
But the Word of God said
they would depart from “The Faith”
which there is only “One Faith”
and that is The Revelation of Jesus Christ
which is the Doctrine of Christ.
Taking sides with Jesus 62-0601 787- 214
But when Jesus come on, His ministry
showed up their doctrine, 'cause God was proving by the ministry of Jesus
Christ that He was with Him.
Revelation Chapter One 60-1204M 28 But I want to just say this before starting. To
see the beginning of the church age, and to see how the apostles, the
doctrines, and things that they taught, and the principles of the Bible, and
then to see that church, about the second round of apostles, how it begin to
fade away: the real, true teaching.
The third round, getting way away; by the fourth round it had faded out into
a--a lukewarm. The church brought forth a lukewarm church.
Flashing Red Light of His Coming 0623E 137 But
today they don't want to hear a message like that. The people don't want to
hear that. They want to be tickled in their ears. Exactly what the Holy Spirit
told me the day I laid that cornerstone there, said to, "Preach the Word; be instant in season, out of season,
for the time will come when they will
not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall heap for
themselves together teachers, having itching ears, and shall be turned from the
truth to fables." Said,
"When the vision leaves you read II
Timothy 4." Said, "Don't forget II
Timothy 4." And when the vision left me, standing right
there on 7th Street, a nineteen year old boy standing there, the voice of God
spoke out in the room, and He said, "II
Timothy 4."
That's exactly what it's turned to be. 138 The time will come when they'll not
endure sound doctrine. People want something... The Pentecostals want something that can pat them
on the back and let them live the way they want to, and they can play the piano at forty beats per
second, and jump up-and-down and dance about it, and women do the way they want
to and men the same way.
Let's just open our own Bibles for a moment to 2 Timothy 4 and read what the
Holy Spirit told Br. Branham to read when he come out of the vision. Now, 2 Timothy 4 is the scripture
brother Branham placed in the cornerstone of His Tabernacle when he built it,
because that was His commission from God. So let's read it.
2 Timothy 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ,
who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; (look at his commission here, the very first
command God says is to "Preach the Word".
Then the second command is to) be instant in
season, out of season;
Now, you might say, what
does that mean to be "instant"?
The word instant means to stand for the Word
and to stand by the Word, whether
it's the Word that is in season or even if it's the Word that is out of season.
It is still God's Word and you are to stand firm with it.
And then he says with
that Word, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
Now,
these words reprove means convict, convince, tell a fault,
rebuke, reprove, and the word rebuke means
to censure, admonish and forbid. and
finally he says, exhort with all longsuffering, and the word exhort means to invoke or beseech. In other words to plead with to come into Christ before it is too
late. Because the Apostle Paul goes on to say, ...
3 For the time will come when they
will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they
heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their
ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do
the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. 6 For
I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth
there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous
judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also
that love his appearing.
Let me read this from the NIV 2 Timothy 4:1 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus,
who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of
his appearing and his kingdom,
I give you this charge: 2 Preach the word; be prepared in
season and out of season; correct, rebuke and
encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time
will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit
their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to
say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn
their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 5 But you, keep your head in all situations,
endure hardship, do the work of
an evangelist, discharge all
the duties of your ministry. 6 For I am already being poured out like a drink
offering, and the time for
my departure is near. 7 I have fought
the good fight, I have finished
the race, I have kept the
faith. 8 Now there is in
store for me the crown of
righteousness, which the Lord,
the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also
to all who have longed for his appearing.
Ashamed of Him 65-0711 225 As Paul
told Timothy, let's be
instant in season, out of season; reproving and rebuking, with all
long-suffering and doctrine. For the time
will come when they'll not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall heap for
themselves together teachers, having itching ears, and will be turned from the
truth to fables. God, we're
living in that day. You've let
me live long enough to see that happen.
Spiritual Food in Due Season 65-0718E 140 But the Lord gave me what I should do in my Message.
But then He said, "Do the work of an evangelist; make full proof of
your ministry, for the hour will arrive when they will not endure sound
doctrine." If
that hasn't come now! Every church
denomination has turned me down, they wouldn't endure sound doctrine."
But after their own lusts they'll
bring their own teachers in, and they'll be turned into fables". And they will do great things of exploits
like Jambres and Jannes
that withstood Moses, but their
folly will be made manifest." See,
see? All right, impersonations.
Voice of the Sign 64-0313 E-44
Now that sign of
Then what's he saying? He's saying, look, we all see sodom
in plain site in the natural. That spirit trying to run
everything, and control every thing. Then if you see it in the natural,
just open your blind eyes to see that same sodomite spirit in the churches
trying to control everything as well. And I have always said, these churches
that preach bride, bride, bride, that spirit is a
sodomite spirit because if they claim to be the bride then why are they not
looking for the Groom? Bride doesn't long for bride, that's a perversion. Bride
longs for Groom. That should be your focus.
And the doctrine, the
true doctrine is not just to be just a mental expression,
it's supposed to produce a life and the power of God in the church.
Acts
The doctrine is supposed to produce in you righteousness which is a right
wiseness.
Romans 6:16 Know
ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are
to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of
sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18 Being then made
free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Look at the warning the Apostle Paul gives us concerning those who do not
believe the doctrine right.
Romans
I Timothy 4:6
¶ If thou put
the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of
Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast
attained.
I Timothy
I Timothy
So we see the importance
of Doctrine, but not only the Doctrine itself but that
which the doctrine produces, namely the Life of Christ in the Believer.
II Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of
God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness: 17 That the
man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto
all good works.
Notice, it is supposed
to produce in us maturity, and thoroughly furnish us or equip us for all good
works, because it is to produce the Life of Christ in us. Let us pray.
