God’s Only Provided Place of Worship # 19

Sunday Morning January 15, 1994

The Place Where God Places His Name

44 GOD'S.PROVIDED.PLACE.WORSHIP - SHP.LA - V-7 N-4 - 65-1128.1M

Now, let's take for our text... I want to read from the Book of Deuteronomy, the Old Testament, just for a setting of Scripture. I have a few notes I wrote out quickly after I'd come back from breakfast with Brother Vayle.

 45 GOD'S.PROVIDED.PLACE.WORSHIP - SHP.LA - V-7 N-4 - 65-1128.1M

I never did get to thank the man over at that hotel... that restaurant the other night, that paid for our--for our supper. Wife and I and my little girl was over there, and when I went to pay my bill, somebody had paid it. Ever who it was, I thank you. Said, "The man that set on the end of the bench." Course there was a whole group in there that we knowed. Now, I... some kind of a Kickapoo, something like that, the place out here, restaurant we were at. Thank you, ever who it was that did that. Each one of you, God bless you.

 46 GOD'S.PROVIDED.PLACE.WORSHIP - SHP.LA - V-7 N-4 - 65-1128.1M

Now, in 16th chapter of Deuteronomy, it's the Passover observance. So we wish to read about the first few verses, first four or five, six verses here:

"Observe the month of Abib, and keep the Passover unto the Lord thy God... (that means "April").. for in the month of this Abib the LORD thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night. Thou shall therefore sacrifice the Passover unto the LORD thy God, of the flock and the herd, in the place which the LORD shall choose to place his name...Thou shall eat no leavened bread within it; seven days shall thou eat unleavened bread  therewith even the bread of affliction,...for thou comest forth out of the land of Egypt in haste:...that thou mayest remember the--the day when thou comest  forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of thy life. And there shall not be no leavened bread seen with thee in all thy coast seven days; neither shall there be any thing of the flesh, which thou has sacrificed the first day at the evening, remain all night until the morning. Thou may not sacrifice the Passover within any of the gates, which the LORD thy God giveth thee: But at the place which the LORD thy God has chosen to place his name in, there thou shall sacrifice the Passover at evening, at the going down of the sun, at the season that thou comest forth out of Egypt."

Now may the Lord add His blessings to the reading of His Word.

 47 GOD'S.PROVIDED.PLACE.WORSHIP - SHP.LA - V-7 N-4 - 65-1128.1M

Now, is the microphone got a blur in it? Last night I heard they were. Can you hear all right, all over? You can't hear. [Brother Branham adjusts the microphone--Ed.] Is that better? Is this better, speaking with the microphones down like this? I'm just a little hoarse, so I'm standing close this morning for that purpose, and I hope that Brother Pearry can--can get it out there. Can you hear it all right now? I think they've fixed it up. All right.

 48 GOD'S.PROVIDED.PLACE.WORSHIP - SHP.LA - V-7 N-4 - 65-1128.1M

Now, the pla... The thing I want to speak about this morning is that God has only one place that the worshiper can meet God, only one place. Through the ages many has sought for this secret place of God, through all the ages. Even Job wanted to know where He lived at, "If I could only go to His house and knock at His door." Job wanted to find God's dwelling place, 'cause there God and His family is worshipped together.

 49 GOD'S.PROVIDED.PLACE.WORSHIP - SHP.LA - V-7 N-4 - 65-1128.1M

Like yesterday, in the message yesterday morning, we find out that there is a possibility of a person to worship God in vain, with sincere worship. God has all these things fixed out for us, but the thing of it is, we have to search to find where they are. Paul told Timothy to search, and to--to be in season and out of season, ready to give a--a--a word or... of the hope that was within him.

Now this morning, I would like to focus our attention on what brother Branham is using as his text as well as his immediate statement right after he reads his text. He reads from Deuteronomy 16: Now let's just look again at what he reads here.

"Thou may not sacrifice the Passover within any of the gates, which the LORD thy God giveth thee: But at the place which the LORD thy God has chosen to place his name in, there thou shall sacrifice the Passover at evening, at the going down of the sun, at the season that thou comest forth out of Egypt"

I would like to point out three things that we will focus upon today.

"Thou may not sacrifice the Passover within any of the gates, which the LORD thy God giveth thee: But at the place which the LORD thy God has chosen to place his name in"

1)  He is speaking about gates. He says not just any gate will do, but the one I have

chosen  to place my name in is the only one that will do.  So point number 1)  we

are looking at a specific place where God will meet with us and receive our

sacrifice, not just any gate:  So what does the scripture mean when it says gates?

Next he reads..."there thou shall sacrifice the Passover at evening, at the going down of the sun, at the season that thou comest forth out of Egypt"

2)  So we see here that in point number 2, we are looking at a season, and the

timing. When our sacrifice to God will be acceptable.

Point number one points to the place or just exactly where our sacrifice will be acceptable and point number 2 tells us the timing or just when it will be acceptable. The season that this will happen.  Now remember, timing is very important.

Ecclesiastes 3: 1  "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose

                           under the heaven."

Now,  so far we have these two points to look at but there is a third point I want to exam as well. That can be found in brother Branham's comments on this scripture he read for his text. Notice in Paragraph 48 he said, " The thing I want to speak about this morning is that God has only one place that the worshiper can meet God, only one place. Through the ages many has sought for this secret place of God, through all the ages. Even Job wanted to know where He lived at, "If I could only go to His house and knock at His door." Job wanted to find God's dwelling place, 'cause there God and His family is worshipped together.

Now if you will notice he is telling us that there is only one place where God will receive our sacrifice and that is where He is. In His Presence. Now this is very important for you to understand, because his next comment in paragraph 49 tells you that outside of this one place your worship will not be accepted. He says, "Like yesterday, in the message yesterday morning, we find out that  there is a possibility of a person to worship God in vain, with sincere worship. God has all these things fixed out for us, but the thing of it is, we have to search to find where they are."

So you see that a person could be very sincere, but outside of God's provided place of worship their worship is in vain.

3) "there is a possibility of a person to worship God in vain, with sincere worship."

Again we find point number one is that God has a specific place where He will receive us and then point number two, there is a season when this is to take place and point number three, if either the place or the season is off, the worship is only in vain no matter how sincere we are. So let's go to the Word of God and establish these three points this morning.

Gates: What does the word gate refer to. Why does He tell us "not any gate will do". The first instance we see in the Bible using the word gate we find Lot sitting at the gate of Sodom.  VINES : The gates represent an opening or an entrance to the place where you live. They also were the place where the local courts convened. The sentences were sometimes executed at the city gates. The gates also represented an opening or entrance.

Jeremiah 15: 6 - 7 (read)

GENESIS.19:1

 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing [them] rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;

Did you notice Jesus, in His speaking of the coming, second coming, He said, "As it was in the days of Noah, they'd be eating, drinking, marrying, and given in marriage." But when He spoke of the days of Lot, He never said nothing about it. "As the days of Lot," that's for revelation.    Watch what happened in the days of Lot. There was Lot down there in Sodom, well settled down, intellectually, had become one of the big men of the city, the judge, set in the gates and judged the people.

E-32  JEHOVAH.JIREH  SIOUX.FALLS.SD  56-0224

As there was Lot walking right along with Abraham who was--was a believer too. But he didn't have that constant abiding Presence of God...... And Lot, of course, as the worldly minded as he was, he looked down towards the well watered plains of Sodom and Gomorrah, and away he went. And let's say he become the chief man of the city, set in the gate where the judge always set. He become the judge, or the mayor of the city.

DEUTERONOMY.16:18

Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy gates, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, throughout thy tribes: and they shall judge the people with just judgment.

 EXODUS.32:26

Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who [is] on the LORD'S side? [let him come] unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

54-1  FUTURE.HOME  JEFF.IN  V-3 N-5  64-0802

Who set at the gate to judge when they come into the City? Oh, my, there you are. The kings of the earth, entering into the City, comes before the apostolic judge, as Jesus promised.

14-8  FEAST.OF.THE.TRUMPETS  JEFF.IN  V-3 N-16  64-0719M

There's always three classes of people. There was Abraham, the elected and called out, outside of Sodom itself; there was Lot, the church member or denominational man, down--he became part of that world by being the mayor of the city--set in the gate, he was a judge, which is a mayor; and there was Sodom itself.

1)  So in point number one where he says, "not just any gate will do, but the one I  have chosen  to place my name in is the only one that will do.

John 10:  9   NIV   " I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out and find pasture."      And pasture to a sheep is where he finds His food in due season.

Revelations 3: 20   He stands at the door knocking. If we open, He will leadus out to pasture to eat. He says, if you open I will come in and then you may begin eating with Me.

James 5: 9            Now remember, the door or gate has to do with judgment, and here we find the Judge standing at the door.

2 Peter 1: 10 - 12   So an entrance will be ministered unto you.

Now when we see that God is telling the people that just not any entrance will do, but He is letting them know it is the place where He is, that's where His name is, where he is present. And it is Here and only here in His presence that He will accept our sacrifice. So any one outside of His presence has no hope of being accepted by Him.

1 John 1: 7   'If we walk in the Light, as He is in the Light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." It says as He is in the Light. So it is Presence we must be in to have our sins forgiven, and to be accepted.

"there thou shall sacrifice the Passover at evening, at the going down of the sun, at the season that thou comest forth out of Egypt"

2)  So we see here that in point number 2, we are looking at a season, and the timing.

When our sacrifice to God will be acceptable.

Now the Jehovah witnesses believe in a Parousia of Christ. But they believe it took place in 1917. So then what they were looking for was in the wrong season. Therefore it was incorrect.  Noah's message would not work in Moses day. And Moses Message didn't work in Jesus day. They said, we have Moses, but who are you? And He said, I am the one He longed to see. Then they tried to stone Him. So the timing is so crucial.

Ecclesiastes 3: 1  "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose  under the heaven."

kairos {kahee-ros'} is used in the new testament to signify " a season, a time or a period, " possessed of certain characteristics.

I.PETER.1:5  Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

1 Peter 1: 5  WUEST  "You who are being kept guarded by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in a last season which  is epochal and strategic in it's significance."

I.PETER.1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

MATTHEW.24:45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

LUKE.1:20 And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

MATTHEW.8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

MATTHEW.13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

MATTHEW.16:3 And in the morning, [It will be] foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O [ye] hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not [discern] the signs of the times?

MATTHEW.21:41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out [his] vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.

MARK.11:13 And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not [yet].

MARK.12:2 And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.

MARK.13:33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

LUKE.8:13 They on the rock [are they], which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

LUKE.12:56 [Ye] hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?

LUKE.19:44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

LUKE.21:8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am [Christ]; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.

LUKE.21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

JOHN.5:4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

JOHN.7:6 Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready.

JOHN.7:8 Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come.

ACTS.3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

ACTS.17:26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

ROMANS.5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

ROMANS.9: For this [is] the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sara shall have a son.

ROMANS.13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now [it is] high time to awake out of sleep: for now [is] our salvation nearer than when we believed.

GALATIANS.6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

I.CORINTHIANS.4:5  Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

EPHESIANS.1:10 That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; [even] in him:

EPHESIANS.5:16  Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

COLOSSIANS.4:5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time

II.THESSALONIANS.2:6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

I.THESSALONIANS.5:1 - 5 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as [do] others; but let us watch and be sober.

I.TIMOTHY.4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;   II.TIMOTHY.4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

II.TIMOTHY.3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

I.PETER.5:6  Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

REVELATION.22:10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.

So you can see that there are many scriptures that refer to specific seasons. The season is marked by a certain characteristic peculiar to itself. And that is why brother Branham is telling us in this message that to worship outside of God's presence at the time that He is Present is to worship in vain. You might worship but it won't do you any good, it won't  be of any benefit to you. That is why he had to preach this message before he preached the Rapture message. To warn us to get into Christ. For "If you walk in the Light as He is in the Light, then you have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin."
