MASTERPIECE No. 20
Being A Part of God no. 4
If Sons then Inheritance
Saturday evening, August 27,
2005
Rev. Brian Kocourek
This evening I would like to continue with our Study
from Br. Branham’s sermon called THE MASTERPIECE 64-0705 and this will be number Four in our mini
series entitled, “A Part of God”, and number 20 in our study of the
Masterpiece.
Last
week we spoke on God playing the role of a Son while He was incarnate in His Son
Jesus.
In
John
5: 19 we
hear Jesus say, Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto
you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do:
for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
In fact we also hear Jesus
say this and the reason he said this is because He would not seek His own will.
John 5: 30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge (and
to judge means you are weighing what you hear against a standard.) and my judgment is
just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath
sent me.
We also saw how that Jesus
as an obedient son said the things he spoke, He was taught by the Father and
commanded by the Father what to speak.
John 12: 49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father
which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should
speak.
John 12: 50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting:
whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
John 14: 21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he
it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I
will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
John 14: 31 But that the world may know that I love the Father;
and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.
John 15: 10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my
love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
John 10: 18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of
myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This
commandment have I received of my Father.
So
we can certainly see how that Jesus did not come to manifest Himself but the
Father that sent Him. But notice that Jesus was not playing out the role of a
Father, but that of an obedient Son. Then it is essential that God was in
Christ reconciling the world unto Himself and that it was God who was acting and
performing and showing Jesus the Role of an Obedient Son. Thus as brother
Branham said in his sermon, Spoken word original seed 62-0318E P:13 God the Father was
a God that lived in the Pillar of Fire. He was trying to draw
Way back the 62-1123 P:61 God, the great Pillar of Fire that followed the children of
Invisible union of the bride 65-1125 P:33 And so was God manifested
in the beginning. And finally He would appeared as Jehovah, God the Father. Then
He appeared as God the Son in Jesus Christ. Now, He's appeared as
God the Holy Ghost, the same God all the time, three manifestations of the
same God.
For
the past three sermons we have been looking at our own Life as having come
forth from the Father. That’s Ephesians 1: 3-20 and we have seen how that
Jesus came forth also from the Father and how that God was in Christ showing
Him the role of an obedient Son. Therefore Jesus is the pattern of Son, and we
if are to come into our role as sons as Jesus showed Himself an obedient Son, then it is expedient that the
Father send forth of His own Spirit into our hearts whereby we also can cry
abba Father as He did His only begotten.
For the Apostle Paul said, “if the spirit that raised up Jesus from the
dead dwell in you it will also quicken your mortal body. And He also said, “for
by one spirit we are all baptized intio one body.
Now,
this evening I would like to speak on the subject, “If sons then inheritance. “
And
for our text, let’s return to Ephesians chapter one again and read.
EPHESIANS 1:3 ¶ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all
spiritual blessings in heavenly [places] in Christ: Now,
to begin with the Apostle Paul is telling us that God is both the God and also
the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore I want you to notice that He is
said to be God first, and then Paul adds that He is also the Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ. Now, don’t ever forget
this order. He is God first and then He is your Father. 4 According as he (That’s God He’s
talking about)
hath chosen us in him (Now he is still talking about God, so He is
saying that God chose us while we were yet in Him) before the foundation of the world, that we
should be holy and without blame before him. The next two words
should have been in verse 5, because it was out of His love that he
predestinated us. Therefore we should read it as 5. in love:
having predestinated us (notice that it is in the past tense that he
did this) in
love: having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to
himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, (Now notice
that the focus of the predestination was to bring us up to adoption according
to the good pleasure of His will. Therefore it was God’s pleasure to adopt you.
And remember a couple weeks ago we spoke on the spirit of adoption that is to
come into the church to bring sons unto God and make them ready for the
adoption.)(Now, I happen to like this next verse the best because it tells me
that I had nothing to do with being accepted by Him.) 6 To the praise(Now, to the praise
is something we do, he says to the praise of the glory of his grace. And the
glory is the doxa or the opinion, judgment and value of the thing we are praising
which is the fruit offering of our lips giving praise to His name.)
So
praise is what we do because of what He did.
And that is HEBREWS 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God
continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. 16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with
such sacrifices God is well pleased.
Now
in getting back to Ephesians one and verse. 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace,
wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. (So we see our
praise is of what He has done, and not of what we do. Because he said it is the
glory of His Grace, and the word glory was translated from the Greek word doxa
which means the opinion. Judgment and value of His Grace. In other words,
saying the same thing and thinking the same thing because we have the same
value as he has, and the object we are saying the same thing about ,is His
grace. Why? Because we are told that he hath made us accepted by God as His
Beloved. And then he tells us how this came about,) 7 In whom we have redemption through his blood,
(Yes our redemption is by His own Blood, the blood of God that was shed through
the body of His only begotten son, and then we also have ) the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches
of his grace;
Now,
it is essential that we have this redemption because to redeem means to buy
back and this tells us that we started out in Him and His blood made the way
for us to come back to Him. And by doing so we received forgiveness which is very
important because with no forgiveness we would not have access to him.
Now,
let’s not forget that we are talking about the inheritance this evening. But as
you can see the complicated situation we were in as fallen sons, is that we
were not worthy of any inheritance from God our Father, so He had to spill His
own blood vicariously through His only begotten Son who never sinned nor ever
disbelieved in any way. And to bring us back and make us accepted in the
beloved God had a way and that was through His own blood.
8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and
prudence; (This tells us that God has overflowed from Himself
and has placed some of that overflow of wisdom and prudence into us for the purpose of helping us to know our
position as sons. )9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will,
according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: (This
tells us that God made known to us the mysteries of Himself that we might know
and understand His purpose and plan that he has for us. And that we might be
ready for the gathering unto Him as he says in the next verse.)
10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might
gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and
which are on earth; even in him:
Now,
this next verse is where I want to get today…11 In
whom also we have obtained an
inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who
worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
Now,
I want you to see that part of this obtaining of this inheritance is that it
is according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after
the counsel of his own will:
That
is why Jesus said in, JOHN 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but
the will of him that sent me.
Then
the Apostle Paul tells us that when we have come to do the will of God that we
shall be viewed By God as He viewed His first born son. 12 That we should be to the praise of his
glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye
heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that
ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, (Now,
this tells us here that God then after we have shown to trust Him, then seals
us with the earnest of our inheritance which is the down payment of our
inheritance until the redemption of our bodies is fully taken place at the
change of the body.)14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased
possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Now,
then if we have the earnest of our inheritance then we ought to know what the
inheritance is, don’t you think? I mean if we are given something as an
inheritance then we ought to know what it is. And I would think we would be
real curious to know what we have waiting for us. Look, the apostle Paul told
us the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the earnest of our inheritance, but the
trouble with the church today is that the people haven’t bothered to check out
what the inheritance is? They don’t even know what they are inheriting from God
their Father. Wouldn’t you want to know what you got coming if you are told it
will all be yours? How many of you would buy a house without first looking it
over? Wouldn’t you want to know up front before you pay the price what you are
getting?
From
his sermon ELIJAH
55-0301 E-26 William Branham said, The people that's become Christians don't know
what they own. Could you imagine me buying a house without looking all over it
first? Could you imagine me owning a place like somebody give me a big arcade,
great big place where everything's just everywhere. It's all mine. Well, that's
the way it is when you come to Christ, everything belongs to you. All
the redemptive blessings that Christ died for is yours. Every believer has
possession of every redemptive blessing (Amen.) is give to the believer. By one spirit we're
all baptized into this big
And
so what is God’s step ladder? Well, brother Branham taught us the way up is
down. So get down on your knees and pray and ask for Jesus said ye have not
because you ask not, ask abundantly that your joy may be full. He that abases himself shall be exalted which
means tro be lifted up. So if any of God’s promises seem to high for you t
oreach then get to your knees that God may raise you up so you can attain unto
it.
From
his sermon called,
EXPLOITS OF FAITH
53-1213E E-61 Many of you Christians here tonight don't
know where you are. You have a right to
these things. Did you ever go down here to the arcade somewhere, or walk
into a great big variety store? You look around, now you just maybe just living
on one thing. But in a variety store you got here's something, and over here's
something, and over here's something. And coming into Christ is like coming into a big variety store. We
have joy; we have peace; we have long-suffering; we have Divine healing. We
have speaking in tongues; we have interpretation of tongues. We have prophecy;
we have everything. It's a big variety store. Is that right? And by one Spirit
we're all baptized into this big variety store. That's right. E-62 Have
anything. Maybe something may be a little high for your reach; God's got a step
ladder over here; let's just get on it. I like to look around see what I got,
don't you? See what we got. God's got all these things setting around here for
us; let's just reach up and get them. If you need healing tonight, let's go get
it. Just a little bit high for you, say,
"God, get me on the ladder right quick; I want to see what it's all
about." He will take you. Lift me up above the shadows, give me fellowship
with Thee. In the light I see the fountain and the Blood that cleanses me, and
giving me these God given rights. Amen.
GOD PROVIDING HEALING
54-0719E E-18 The trouble with Christians today, they
don't realize what is provided for them. Many people doesn't realize that the
great glories and powers that's provided for them... Coming into Jesus Christ
is like walking into the arcade down here or a great department store. If
somebody give me a great department store down here in the arcade, and told me,
"This is all yours." Well, the first thing I'd do, I'd want to walk
around in there and found out--find out what I owned, what was mine. And that's
the way it is in Christ. When you become a Christian, walk around, find out
what you own, what's yours. All things are yours, given to you freely.
Everything that Christ died for is yours, every one of you. And you've got a
checkbook with Jesus' Name signed across there, and saying, "Whatever you
send this check to the Father, whatever you ask the Father in My Name, that
I'll do." You're just scared to fill it out; that's all. E-19 Why, if I went into department store, and
they said all this is yours, I'd look on every shelf to see what belonged to
me. And some of these things that's up high, I couldn't hardly reach them, I'd
go get me a stepladder, and get up so I could look around and find what it's
all about. Wouldn't you do that? That's the way, when we come into Christ, if
something seems just a little high, step up in the Gospel ranks and find out
what belongs to you. God's got a stepladder that reaches plumb into glory.
Jacob saw it one night, with Angels coming up-and-down from earth to glory.
It's all yours. God's provided it for you. Just get on it tonight and climb
right on out of this earthbound people here, that says, "The days of
miracles are past." We are not earthbound people, we are heaven-bound
people, filled with the Holy Ghost, climbing the ladder going to glory.
Everything along the road belongs to us. Everything Jesus died for belongs to
us. Sure. E-20 God, back there, the Creator,
when they had need of meat, God caused a wind to blow from somewhere out from
the sea. And here come quails in that they didn't even have to hunt them. They
just picked them up and eat the quails. Where'd them quails come from? How did
they come from out of the sea, the wind was blowing that way? God blowed them
in from somewhere. I believe that He's God that will provide food for them, and
He created those quails, and just sent them down with His breath right into the
camp. I believe God can do the same thing for every needy person here tonight,
can send the Holy Spirit in here to awaken you conscious of His Being, and give
to you those things that Jesus Christ promised to you, and died for you to
have. He's Jehovah-jireh, the Lord will provide. E-21
When they got sick, they didn't have to go out and hunt up some
remedies, God provided an atonement for them. He made a brass serpent, and put
it on a pole, and said that whoever will look at that will get well. And every
man that looked on it and believed, God healed. Now, the brass serpent couldn't
pray for anybody. It couldn't lay hands on no one. It has no hands to lay on,
but God provided a way for them to look and live. It was a symbol. It was an
ensign in the camp of
SHOW US THE FATHER
54-0811 E-30 Now, the trouble with
people, when you become a Christian you don't look around in the Bible and
see... You say, "Well, I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior."
That's good. There's nothing wrong with that. That's what you should do. But after you become a Christian, go in the
Bible, look around and see what's yours. Amen. E-31
When you buy a house, you look around to see what's yours, don't you?
Why, it's just like putting in a big arcade. I'll go around in a big arcade.
That's what it is. I'll go around; I look at this. It's mine. Now, if you want
to stand back and say, "Yes, I believe it, but I'm scared. I'm scared I
can't do it." Well, just go ahead that's all the farther you'll ever get.
But me, I like to look around like Abraham did, walk up-and-down the land, see
what you got. Amen. I like to see whether His promise is what He said. I'll
believe it. It's in His Word. E-32 This great big arcade of Christ, by one
Spirit we're all baptized into this arcade. If something looks a little odd for
me, I'll just get a ladder, and get up, and examine it, and see what it looks
like. That's the way to do it. Climb up by faith into the realms where man
can't touch. It's hanging there; God promised it to you. There's a step ladder;
just keep climbing. You'll get it; reach up for it. Amen. Sometimes I'm ashamed
to think our little petty faith, when God's eternal Word lays here, which is
God Himself manifested in the Word.
E-33 Look what He said. Here's
a good thought. He told Joshua, or not Joshua, but Moses, "I have given
you
And
the apostle Paul told the church 15 ¶ Wherefore I also,
after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, (Paul
saw that the church had received the earnest as he said in verse 13-14, and
that they had faith, and Love and He knew there was one thing left to come and
that would be the spirit of Adoption to know and understand the will of the
Father). 16 Cease
not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; 17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the
Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the
knowledge of him: 18 That the eyes
of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his
inheritance in the saints, (notice He said that God would send
forth the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Himself in order
that we would understand His great purpose and that we also would know the
riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints. God wants us to know what
we are inheriting. And that is why he sends the spirit of adoption that we
receive the very mind of the Father so when we inherit all things in Him, that
we will know what to do with them. )19 And what [is] the
exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the
working of his mighty power, 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him
from the dead, and set [him] at his own right hand in the heavenly [places], 21

all [things] to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that
filleth all in all.
Look,
God has given us a plethora of blessings that we are to inherit. In the Bible
there are 61 times the word inherit is spoken of, and there are 204 times the
word inheritance or inheritances is used. In the old testament the main item of
