Who is This Melchisedec # 130
Waters of Life
May 28, 2002
148 So while Jesus was setting there, this woman
come out about eleven o'clock. See, she couldn't come with the virgins when
they come in the morning to get their wash water; she had to wait till they all...
They didn't mix like they do now. She was marked. So then she come out to get
some water. So she just took the old windle, and put the hooks over the jar,
and started to let it down; she heard Somebody say, "Woman, bring Me a
drink." Now, remember, this is Melchisedec; this is Jesus yesterday,
the Son of man. And she looked around, and she saw a Jew. So she said,
"Sir, it's not proper for a Jew to ask a Samaritan for anything. I'm a
woman of Samaria, so you have spoken out of your place. You shouldn't have ask
me such a thing as that; we have no dealings with one another." He said,
"But if you knew Who was talking to you, you'd ask Me for a
drink." She said, "How You going to draw it? The well's deep, and
You have nothing to draw with." He said, "The water that I give is
water of Life springing up into Eternal Life." He talked to her till
He found what her condition was. And then told--watch what He said to her now.
"Go get your husband and come here." And she said, "I have no
husband." He said, "You've said the truth, for you've had five, and
the one you now are living with is not yours; so in this you've said the
truth." Watch the difference between that woman and that bunch of priests.
She knowed more about God than that whole bunch of priests did put
together.
153 She said, "Sir, I
perceive that You are a Prophet." She said, "We haven't had one for
four hundred years. Now, we know that the Messiah's coming, and when the
Messiah comes, that's what He's going to do." That was the sign of the
Messiah, for He was the Son of man. Said, "That's what He's going to do
when He comes; You must be His Prophet."He said, "I am He."
Nobody else could say that. She dropped that water pot, and run into the city,
and said, "Come, see a Man Who told me what I done. Isn't this the very
Messiah?" Now, remember, He promised to do that same thing at the end of
the Gentile race. The Jews had had four thousand years to look for that
Messiah, four thousand years of teaching He was coming, and what He would do
when He got there; and they failed to see Him, failed to recognize it. And when
He made Hisself known in the very Bible terms that He said He would, when He'd
been a theophany and then become flesh and dwelled among them, they failed to
see it, and called His works the works of the devil.
156 Now, we've had two thousand years of
teaching, coming down through the Roman Catholic church, after the apostles.
Then we come down through the Roman Catholic, the Greek, and so forth, on down
to Luther's age, and Wesley, whatmore, nine hundred different organizations.
Coming down, they had all these ages' teaching. Now, He promised just before
the end time would come that the picture of Sodom and Gomorrah would again...
"As it was in the days of Sodom, so shall it be in the coming of the end
time, the Son of man will reveal Himself again." [Blank spot on tape--Ed.]
"Yet a little while and the world won't see Me no more, yet ye shall see
Me, for I (a personal pronoun)--I will be with you, even in you to the consummation,
the end of the world. I'll be with you." He's the same yesterday, today,
and forever. You see--you see the Samaritan was actually--from my last night's
sermon--was Hagar (See?) a perverted type. The Jew was Sarah—or was Sarahite;
but the Gentile is of Mary the Royal Seed, Abraham’s Royal Seed.
158
Now, it's promised that in these last days that this same God, this same
Christ, would come back here and reveal Hisself as Son of man. Why? He's the
same yesterday, today, and forever. And if He let those Jews go by with--and
give them that Messiahic sign, and then come to the end of the Gentile's
teachings and let them just go in on theology, He would be unjust. He's got to
do the same thing, because the Bible said in 13--Hebrews 13:8, He is the same.
And He's promised in Malachi 4 and all the different Scriptures that the last
days the church would be setting just exactly like it is today and the world
would be.Look at the world today. Look at the Sodom condition. Look at the
earthquakes in divers places and the things that's taking place. Look at the
church in the mess it's in of Babylon. Look at the messenger to it, an Oral
Roberts and a Billy Graham: G-r-a-h-a-m. First time we ever had a messenger to
all the churches that his name ever end in h-a-m like Abraham. A-b-r-a-h-a-m is
seven letters; G-r-a-h-a-m is six letters. Where's he at? To the world. Six is
man's number. Man was created on the sixth day. But seven's God's number
Now,
for tonight we will once again look into this Message of Who is this Melchisedec
and focus our thoughts on the main theme that Brother Branham seems to be
weaving in these paragraphs and that is the same theme he has woven so
beautifully through out this Message and that is WHO IS THIS
MELCHISEDEC? Notice in paragraph 148 Brother
Branham says, “Now, remember, this is Melchisedec; this is Jesus
yesterday, the Son of man.”
Now,
this ought to tell you two things. Number one, he is not speaking of the Son of
God, but of God Himself, that Jesus Who is the Same, Yesterday, Today and Forever.
And number two, we know that the title Son of Man refers to God Himself in the
office of a prophet, who is that Jesus of Yesterday that Brother Branham is
speaking of. If you will remember, a few weeks ago we took a message called “God
in the role of Son of Man”, and proved
by the Scripture that God Is the One Who haS come down in this END-TIME role of
Prophet. For He is the God prophet.
Now
as we continue in our thoughts tonight, I would like to look at some other
things that brother Branham is saying here. Now, notice that he is quoting from
John chapter 4 where Jesus says, But if you knew Who was talking
to you, you'd ask Me for a drink. Now,
remember, Jesus said Himself that He only speaks what His Father tells Him to
say. John
Chapter 12: 50 And I know that
his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the
Father said unto me, so I speak. So
we must realize that the Father is the One who told the Son to say what he did
concerning, the Words, “If you only knew
who you were talking to.”
Let’s
just take a look at this scene that brother Branham is focusing his thought on
for ourselves. If you will turn in your Bibles to St. John Chapter 4 and we
will begin reading from verse number one.
St.
JOHN 4:1 When therefore the Lord knew how
the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,) 3 He left Judaea, and
departed again into Galilee. 4 And he must needs go through Samaria. 5 Then
cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of
ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus
therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was
about the sixth hour. 7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus
saith unto her, Give me to drink. 8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the
city to buy meat.) 9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that
thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the
Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. 10 Jesus answered and said unto her,
If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me
to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
Now,
let’s stop here and look at this scene. First of all it is no fluke that Jesus
placed Himself at the well, waiting for this woman to come to the well. He knew
that the time was well passed for the young virgins to come to the well. They
came earlier in the morning, but the time Jesus came was about 11:00 a.m. in
the morning. That means she was limited to when she could be in public, which
11:00 or the sixth hour of the day means the day would begin somewhere around
5:00 a.m.
Rapture the 65-1204
P:72 Now, in the Bible
times--talking about the watches--and nights were not divided into hours in the
Bible time. (Now, listen closely, 'cause I'll hurry now cause they want the
room.) No, the Bible was not divided--or the night was not divided in hours in
the Bible time; it was divided in watches. There was three watches. Now, the
first watch started at--from nine until twelve; the second watch started from
twelve to three, and the third watch of the night was counted from three to
six.
Brother
Branham clued us in on this in paragraph 148.
148 So while
Jesus was setting there, this woman come out about eleven o'clock. See, she
couldn't come with the virgins when they come in the morning to get their wash
water; she had to wait till they all... They didn't mix like they do now. She
was marked. So then she come out to get some water.
Now,
let’s get back to this scene in St. John 4 and pick up at verse 11. The woman saith
unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence
then hast thou that living water? 12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob,
which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his
cattle? 13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this
water shall thirst again: 14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall
give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in
him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
Now,
what Jesus is telling her here is that He has tapped into the Eternal Great
Fountain of Life which is God Himself.
Psalms
Chapter 36:9 For with thee is the fountain of life: in
thy light shall we see light
Hebrews Chapter 6 57-0908E P:15 Now, this great Melchisedec, what a story on Him here. We
want to read a little bit, this type. We had to run through it so fast; we're
going to start back here on a certain part of the Scripture, and we're going to
start about the 15th verse. And it is yet... more evident: that there... for
that after the similitude of Melchisedec there arises another priest,
Now, Melchisedec was a priest? Was he? Here's what He was. We find out that God
in the beginning was a great Fountain of Spirit. Is that right? He had no
birthplace; He had no dying place; He had no beginning of days; He had no
ending of years; He was just as eternal as eternity is eternal. He never was
born; He never did die. Now, remember, I'm not saying there's not a burning hell.
There is a burning hell, fire and brimstone, where the--the worm is--the fire
isn't quenched and the worm never dies, of fire and brimstone, a punishment; it
may last for a hundred billion years, but it has to have an end, for hell was
created for the Devil and his angels. And everything that the very God
Himself, which was in the beginning, everything come off of God.
So
the woman then realizes she is speaking to the Messiah, Himself. 15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I
thirst not, neither come hither to draw. 16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy
husband, and come hither. 17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband.
Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: 18 For thou hast
had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst
thou truly. 19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a
prophet. 20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in
Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. 21 Jesus saith unto her,
Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor
yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we
know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
What
a statement. You worship what you know not. I am afraid that is a trait of the gentile people.
They worship what they know not. The Apostle Paul made the same statement to
the Greeks when he told them in Acts
Chapter 17:16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his
spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry. 17 Therefore disputed he in the synagogue
with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them
that met with him. 18 Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the
Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other
some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto
them Jesus, and the resurrection. 19
And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May we know what
this new doctrine, whereof thou speakest, is?
20 For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know
therefore what these things mean. 21 (For all the Athenians and strangers which
were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear
some new thing.) 22 Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye
men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious. For as I
passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO
THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto
you. 24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord
of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 25 Neither is
worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to
all life, and breath, and all things; 26 And hath made of one blood all nations
of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times
before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; 27 That they should seek
the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not
far from every one of us: 28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being;
as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. 29
Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the
Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men
every where to repent: 31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will
judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he
hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the
dead. 32 And when they heard of the
resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again
of this matter. 33 So Paul departed from among them.
How
many people even in this Message worship a God they know not. And if you do not
know Him, then He is the unknown God. Paul said of that hour, “Now we see
through a glass darkly, but he also told us there is coming a day when we shall
know even as we are known. St. John told us that we will know him because we
shall see Him as He really is. And yet with such a glorious Message as we have
in this day and yet we have so called message churches filled with people who
do not Know God. Therefore, if they do not know Him then they are still
worshipping an unknown God. We have a message in this hour that has introduced
us to Him, and has given us a thorough declaration of Him, even unveiling the
Mighty God in our midst, and yet because of the pride of the heart or the pride
of station, men have chosen rather to ignore what God has done in this hour,
preferring not to know Him as He really is.
Brother Branham said in His message entitled 'A
DECEIVED CHURCH' "But as Israel was bound by their
Kings that they could not follow the real King; and the real King, when He
came, they didn't recognize Him. So is it today, oh, Lord. The King of Glory
has appeared in the form of the Holy Ghost and Lord, They don't know it. They
don't recognize it. They're so organized so tight, that they do not
understand it, because It's not in their organization. Lord this is a work of
the devil that's done this to the people. May the Samson of God, may the True
in heart, those who are longing and crying and pleading and holding on, may
they stay with It, Lord, until this new crop grows out. Until there comes
forth again a joy in Zion, and there comes forth a group that can recognize and
understand. That can see the Messiah and the hidden power that's hid from the
world, that they will not understand now. Grant, Lord, that they'll see this,
for we ask It in Jesus name, a-man."
So
we see that men choose rather to walk in darkness rather than opening
themselves up to the correction of the Word.
PSALM
50:10 Who is among you that feareth the
LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath
no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God. 11
Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks:
walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This
shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.
The
NIV puts it this way. 10
Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the word of his servant? Let him
who walks in the dark, who has no
light, trust in the name of the Lord
and rely on his God. 11 But
now, all you who light fires and
provide yourselves with flaming torches,
go, walk in the light of your fires
and of the torches you have set ablaze.
This is what you shall receive from my hand:
You will lie down in torment.
The
Amplified version : 11Behold, all you [enemies of your own selves] who attempt to
kindle your own fires [and work out your own plans of salvation], who surround
and gird yourselves with momentary sparks, darts, and firebrands that you set
aflame!--walk by the light of your self-made fire and of the sparks that you
have kindled [for yourself, if you will]! But this shall you have from My hand:
you shall lie down in grief and in torment.
Jesus
even said in St. John 3: 19 that men love darkness rather than light. John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the
world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light,
lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the
light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
AMPLIFIED
John 3:19 The [basis of the]
judgment (indictment, the test by which men are judged, the ground for the sentence)
lies in this: the Light has come into the world, and people have loved the
darkness rather than and more than the Light, for their works (deeds) were
evil.(1)
Darkness
and walking in darkness is associated with not knowing where you are going as
we see in the following scriptures.
Psalms
82:5 They know not, neither will they
understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out
of course.
And
again we hear Jesus Himself tell us this in JOHN
12:35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a
little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest
darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither
he goeth.
JOHN
8:12 Jesus said, Then
spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that
followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Ephesians 4: 17 Having
the understanding darkened, they being alienated from the life of God
through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
Romans
Chapter 11:10 Let their eyes be
darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.
Romans Chapter 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. And remember the heart represents understanding, so we see their understanding becomes darkened.
Now
in getting back to Jesus discussion with the woman at the well, we hear Jesus
tell us there is coming an hour when God will require man to worship Him in
Spirit and Truth, and that speaks of the Word, because Jesus said in John 6:63,
My words are spirit and they are Life. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true
worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father
seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that
worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.(Notice he said, MUST. There is no other way. Anything
outside of Spirit and Truth will not be accepted. You must worship in the Word
of Truth. A false word will be as no worship at all.) That is why Martin Luther in his Book on Romans, in quoting Paul
from Romans 10:13-17 said the following.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of
the Lord shall be saved.
Now, here's the key, He says, "For whosoever shall call upon
the name of the Lord shall be saved. In
verse 9 & 10 he said, you've got to believe first in your heart that God
raised up Jesus from the dead and then you've got to confess it. And now he
says, For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Therefore, this believing and
confessing is your calling upon the Lord. AT THY
WORD LORD 54-1207 E-48 Only by your confession can
you be saved. That's the most powerful weapon that God put in the hand of
man, is a committal and a confession. It'll do it every time, if you'll believe
it, accept it on those basis, and believe it and stay with it. Keep
confessing it. When you confess it...
But what if you are not sure of what you believe? Can you be saved?
CONTENDING FOR THE FAITH 55-0220E E-66 Jesus said, "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the
Kingdom." You can't understand it. It's a mystic, mythical thing until
you're born again. There the very Life of God comes in you. Everlasting,
Eternal Life, Zoe, God's own Life comes in you, and then you're a part of God.
You're a Son of God or a daughter of God. And then you see as God sees. You
believe as God believes.
This is the real issue then. How do you
really know you are calling upon the right Lord? The Word Lord simply means
master, Jesus used the same word Kurios
when he said MATTHEW 6:24 No man can serve two masters:
for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to
the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Therefore, how will we know which Lord, Which Master to call upon?
Paul answers this question as we shall see in the next few verses.
ROMANS 10:14 How then shall they
call on him in whom they have not believed and how shall they believe in him of
whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? (Martin Luther said, Even though they say they
hear, thy boast in vain, unless they hear true preachers; for to hear false
prophets means as much as not to hear. They hear and they do not hear; They
have ears, but do not hear, nor do they preach the Word of God. 15 And how shall they preach, except they be
sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the
gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! ? This is directed against all conceited
teachers and arrogant instructors .
If you will notice in verse 14-15 there are four
statements that Paul makes that of which follow together in such a way that one
leads to the other, but so that the last forms the foundation on which the
others rest. Thus we see from what Paul said, that it is impossible that those
preach who are not sent, It then is impossible for those to hear who are
without a preacher, and it is impossible for them to believe who do not hear,
and thus it would be impossible for them to call upon the name of the Lord who
do not believe. And thus it would be impossible for them who do not call upon
the name of the Lord to be saved. So
then, the entire source and origin of salvation rests on this, that God sends
out someone, ( A true minister of the Word).
1. If He does not send out any, then they who
preach, preach falsely, and
their preaching is no preaching at all. In fact, it would be better for them
not to preach.
2. Then also they who hear, hear error,
and it would be better for them not to hear.
3. Then also they who believe, would believe
false doctrine, and it would be better for them not to believe.
4. Then also they who call upon Him would call
falsely (upon a false Lord), and it
would be better for them not to call.
1
1
For such preachers do not preach,
2
2
such hearers do not hear;
3
3
such believers do not believe;
4
4
such callers do not call;
5
5
they will be damned because they
would be saved by falsehood.
Ø
Ø Then we
would see what is spoken of in Proverbs
1:28 which says, “Then shall they call upon me, But I ill not
answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: for that they
hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord.”
16
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath
believed our report? 17
So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and
hearing by the word of God. The true, revealed, and vindicated Word of God.
Then can you see the importance this evening of
receiving a vindicated Ministry? Because if it is not vindicated, then how do
you know what you are hearing is not error? And if it is error, then you would
be believing error, and if you believe error, then you would be calling out to
a wrong God, and if you call out to a wrong God, then how could you be
saved? Therefore, God has come down to
vouch safe His own Presence among us. We know that we are the elect of God
because He said so. It is not just something we have read in a book, but God
Himself has come down and has spoken through the lips of His Prophet whom He
has vindicated and that is what I am standing on this evening.
Can you imagine the mess the Mess-Age would be in if
all of God's True Five fold ministry were to be called off the scene? It is
going to happen one of these days, and when it does, you talk about a famine.
UNCERTAIN SOUND 61-0429E E-51 One day God said, "Now, you prophesied enough against
them, come on out of the field, and I'm going to let the judgments of your
prophecy rain down on them." So Elijah went up on top the mountain, up
there for three and half years, or three years when they was all 'bout gnawing
their tongues for pain, but he was setting by a little brook. Little spring,
had the spiritual revelation all the time, waters of life pouring up. The rest of them... And listen, brother,
sister, let me tell you. One of these days when God is, just get enough of this around here, and
He will take all the true off the field and then you'll want a revival. It has
to come to pass. The prophet said there would be a time in the last days,
when there would not be a famine only for bread and water, but for hearing of
the Word of God. And the true servants will be taken off. And there'll be a
famine in the last days. It sure will be.
25
The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ:
when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Jesus saith unto her, I
that speak unto thee am he. 27 And upon this came his disciples, and
marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou?
or, Why talkest thou with her? 28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went
her way into the city, and saith to the men, 29 Come, see a man, which told me
all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
It
doesn’t take 20 years of hanging around this message to finally get it. When
the light strike that is it.
Greater than Solomon is here 62-0628 P:28 She said, "Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. "What was it? That Light had caught it. Right quick that seed come to life. See? Something in there--in her, she seen it. She was ordained to see it. She was called of the Father, had been given... The life had been given from--from the foundation of the world. And as soon as that Light flashed across her... No matter how much ecclesiastical training had been seen, they was blind to it; but when that Light of God flashed across that little woman, she saw it.
Sign of this time
63-1113 P:76 When you come to find Jesus Christ to be
reality, and you hear that He is alive, there's nothing going to stop you, when
that hunger, that seed that's been predestinated before the foundation of the
world. When the Light strikes that, it's coming to Life that quick.
Why cry speak 63-0714M
P:49 when that Light
strikes it, they see the very vindication of God, that Pillar of Fire hanging
there, and the signs and wonders that promised, the Scripture being laid in it,
it comes to Life. No matter how little it is and how many in the minority;
God's group has always been the minority. See? "Fear not little, little
flock, it's your Father's good will to give you the Kingdom." See? They
catch it.
Greater than Solomon is
here 62-0628 P:27 But as soon as that eternal Light shone
upon that predestinated seed, it come to life right quick. They saw it. They
recognized it right quick
World's Falling Apart
63-0412M P:79 There's
a predestinated seed. When that Light strikes, they'll catch it like that.
