Who is this Melchisedec #146

“Thy Faith Hath Saved Thee”

August 18, 2002

Who Is This Melchisedec 65-0221E   170 Now, if God will keep His Word, and if it happens to fall on someone that I know, then I'll get someone else. See, I want somebody that I don't know. And I want you to pray. Now, look, there was a little woman one time had an infirmity. She'd spent her money for the doctors; they could do her no good. And she said within her heart, "If I can touch that Man's garments, I'll be made well." You remember the story? And so all of them tried to get her to stay back, but she pressed through until she touched His garment, went back and set down. Now, listen close. And then when she did that, Jesus turned around and said, "Who touched Me?" Why, Peter the apostle rebuked Him. He might have something like, "Lord, don't say a thing like that. The people will believe there's something wrong with You, because when You ask them to eat Your flesh and drink Your Blood. They already think there's something wrong. And You say, 'Who touched Me,' why, the whole crowd's a-touching You." He said, "Yes, but I perceive that virtue went out of Me." That was a different kind of touch. Now, anybody knows that virtue is strength. "I got weak; virtue left Me." And He looked around on the audience until He found the little woman and told her about her blood issue. And she felt in her body that that blood issue had stopped. Is that right? And He said, "Thy faith has saved thee." Now, the Greek word there is "Sozo," which absolutely means "saved physically or spiritual," just the same, just saved. He's your Savior.

Wednesday night the Lord met with us in a wonderful way and brought much needed assurance to us concerning His Election, and our destiny in this dark but glorious hour.

Let me say a few words which will summarize what we saw in this paragraph last Wednesday night. We took just a few words, these: “if God will keep His Word,” and we focused our thoughts on the question “Will God Keep His Word?” And we showed how Keeping His Word also means He will maintain it, possess it, and continue in it.

Because if God does not keep His Word then His Word is no good.

And if God does not keep His own Word then His Word is not immutable.

And if God does not keep His Own Word, then He does not maintain by His Word either.

And if God does not keep His word then His word is ever changing.

Then if His Word is ever Changing, then He is a God Who Changes.

And if He is a God Who changes, then He is not the Same yesterday, today and forever.

For to Keep His Word means to possess His Word, It means to maintain His Word, and it means to continue in a state, condition or course of action.

Now, we looked at What Paul said about God keeping His Word, in Hebrews chapter 6, and it was simply wonderful what God showed us. But I do not have time to go into that sermon this morning because I have too much other to bring out from this paragraph, but believe me, those of you who were here know what I am talking about, when I say that, that sermon was on the highlights of My ministry.

If you were not in Him in the beginning, you will not be in Him at the end. And if you were not in Him at the beginning and at the end, there is no way for you to ever be in Him, for He changes not. And How do you know that you were in Him at the beginning and therefore will be in Him at the end? Because you are in Him now. And Who is He? He is the Word.

Therefore, if you are in the Word that has been revealed in this age, you were in him to begin with, because He cannot change, and if you were a part of Him then, you are a part of Him now, and you will be a part of Him for all Eternity. That is what Jesus is telling us in his prayer in John 17. He was only acknowledging what he knew by what Word he saw manifested in these men. Men today make such a big deal about the prayer of Jabez, but that prayer is a self-exalting prayer and doesn’t hold a candle to the prayer of Jesus. That’s what men should be talking about is this prayer of Jesus in John 17.

Remember, God says it and then confirms it with an oath which is the literal bringing into manifestation that Spoken Word Promise. And Jesus knew for that very reason He was to come to earth, and so when he saw in these men the manifestation of the promise, He knew that these were the men that God, His Father had sent Him to earth to bring forth in them that manifestation of the promise.

Now, this morning I would like to continue with this sermon of Brother Branham’s  from paragraph 170 and I would like to focus out thoughts on the statement.

"Thy faith has saved thee." Now, the Greek word there is "Sozo," which absolutely means "saved physically or spiritual," just the same, just saved. He's your Savior.

Now, there are many times in the Scriptures that Jesus says the Words, “Thy Faith hath saved Thee,  or Thy Faith hath healed Thee, or Thy Faith hath made the Whole, or Thy Faith hath made thee well.… And in all of these the same Greek Word sozo is used. That is what we hear brother Branham telling us here in this statement. He tells us that it has both a spiritual and physical meaning. We see the same word used for healing, saving, and making well in the following scriptures.

MATTHEW 9:22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

MARK 5:34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

LUKE 7:50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

LUKE 18:42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.

ACTS 14:9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,

The Greek word sozo means:  to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction/ And it also means to save from injury of peril, suffering from disease, to make well, heal, restore to health; to preserve one who is in danger of destruction, to save or rescue to deliver from the penalties of the judgment.

So you can see by brother Branham’s statement that the word sozo has to do with deliverance in both a physical sense as well as in the spiritual sense of the word.

Thy Faith Hath saved you.Thy Faith in What? Thy Faith in God…

FAITH 56-0427  E-75 He said, "Thy Faith hath healed thee." Is that right? No. "Thy faith hath saved thee." Well, the same word "saved" is "healed" ever time in the Bible. The Greek word is "Sozo." Is that right? Sozo. Physically or spiritually the same word: "Thy faith has saved thee." See?

Now, what I would like to look more closely at this morning is the thought, “Thy Faith hath Saved Thee.” Because we know the word sozo can be used for both a physical deliverance as well as a spiritual one. But the key is Faith. Thy Faith does it. That is the Key, he said it is your faith that has saved thee or healed thee or made thee whole. Thy Faith he said…. Now, what I want to do this morning is to take a simple message and show the difference between Faith and works. Because many people get so tied up with the works aspect and fail to see how Faith and works are tied together.

Let’ take for instance the woman who kissed Jesus feet. LUKE 7:36   And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat. 37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that [Jesus] sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, 38 And stood at his feet behind [him] weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe [them] with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed [them] with the ointment. 39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw [it], he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman [this is] that toucheth him: for she is a sinner. 40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on. 41There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. 42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? 43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that [he], to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged. 44 And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped [them] with the hairs of her head. 45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. 46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. 47    Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, [the same] loveth little. 48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. 49 And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? 50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

Now, brother Branham talks about this scene in the message JESUS KEEPS ALL OF HIS APPOINTMENTS  64-0418E  E-69, and he said,   “She'd went and kissed His feet and cry, and wash, and wipe, and kiss His feet again. You know, Jesus, if He'd have moved one foot, she'd have jumped up and run out of there. But you know, He just set and let her do it. You know, if you want to do something for Him, He'll let you do it. It may be all out of order, but He'll let you do it anyhow. See? It was doing Him a service, and she was washing His feet. And He just set there and looked at her. She was afraid to look up, 'cause afraid He'd make her scat. And see, she was washing His feet. She saw opportunity to do something for Him. And she was just... Now, see, when He--when Jesus spoke back to the Pharisee, He justified her by her works. But when He justified her to herself, He justified by her faith, "Thy faith hath saved thee." He showed the Pharisee what her works was, because your works expresses your faith.

Then in the very next breath brother Branham says,   E-70    Now let your hair grow out. Now, see, it expresses what you believe or not. That's God Word. There's no Scripture in the Bible but what that's the truth. Why do you do it? Now, notice. Too much Hollywood in Pentecost, that's what's the matter.

And not only does our works express our Faith, but it also expresses what influences our soul is being governed by. .

Therefore, we want to look at works not as law, as to whether of not we do so to save our soul or not, but what we do is an expression of our Faith. And we know that faith is a revelation.

TAKE ON THE WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD  62-0701  E-62  God don't judge no one by their works, judge you by your faith. Notice. I want to clear that up about the little woman last night too. It wasn't her works of washing her feet. He justified her then before Simon by saying what she had done; He justified her by works, what she was doing. But when He justified her in her own sight, He said, "Thy faith hath saved thee," 'cause no man is justified by works. By her faith in Him being the Son of God, not what she was doing, but her faith in Him... And your faith always tells your works. That's right.

Now, Remember, Brother Branham taught us also that there are two types of Faith. An intellectual faith and a faith that comes from the heart. In his message [PP 37 Inter veil 56-0121] Brother Branham taught said, "There is an intellectual faith. And there's a faith that comes from the heart.  And so we are looking at this Faith or Revelation that comes from the heart.  We are not so interested in intellectual faith here, because that in itself is works. In [Ezekiel 36], we see that God gives us a new heart which is a new understanding first, then He gives us a new spirit which is a new desire and finally after we have received this new desire or welcoming Spirit, to welcome the Word of God, then He gives us His Spirit which is His Word. Now let's just read this for ourselves...

Ezekiel 36:26-28 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do [them]. And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

And so you will notice that this new heart and new spirit and finally His Spirit entering into us is to bring about one thing, and that is that we will walk in His statutes, which is His Word, and we shall do the things that His Word speaks of for  us to do, which then brings about our actually becoming the Word of God manifested in flesh.

From IMPERSONATION OF CHRISTIANITY-Brother Branham  said,   " God had to give you a new heart, not a patched up one, a new heart. That's your intellects that you think with, a new way of thinking. Then He give you a new way of thinking, "Yes, that's right Then He said after that, "Then I'll give you a new spirit." What's that? A new desire, ... After you get a new heart and a new spirit, He said, "Then I'll put My Spirit..." His Spirit, part of the Logos in you controlling your emotions"

Now, furthermore, we find Paul speaking of this condition of the heart in [ 2 Cor 3: 15 - 18] But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. 16    Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. 17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord [is], there [is] liberty. 18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, [even] as by the Spirit of the Lord.

We see that a veil still covers the hearts or understanding of those who do not look to the Word of God, but who look rather to their church or the traditions and creeds they are familiar with instead of God's Word only.   But we are also told that one day there will be a people who will look to the Word of God and these are the people in whose hearts (or literally their understanding) will change. And when it does change, then God will Unveil Himself to them.

ANOINTED ONES AT END TIME 65-0725M  53    What is faith? Faith is something that's revealed to you, that is not yet, but you believe it will be. Faith is a revelation of the will of God.

INVISIBLE UNION OF THE BRIDE 65-1125  24-1    What is a revelation? Jesus said, "Upon this Rock I'll build My church, and the gates of hell can't prevail against it." Faith is a revelation, because faith has been revealed to you.

WORKS IS FAITH EXPRESSED  65 1126  105    Now, "faith" is a "revelation from God." Now, "faith" is a "revelation." There's where I want to stay there just a moment. It's a revelation. He has revealed it to you by His grace. It's nothing you did. You didn't work yourself up into faith. You never had faith; it's give to you by the grace of God. And God reveals it to you; therefore, faith is a revelation. And the whole Church of God is built upon the revelation….  117    In a audience of people, where a prayer line comes through, you'll find some... And they were all good people, we'll say. There's some that's trying hard to believe it, trying to work themselves into it. Some just can't do it at all. And others, it's just by grace; it's just given to them. Now, there is the difference. See? That does it. That's the real revelation, because faith is a revelation from God. It must be revealed first.

Now, you can't just believe them until it has been revealed to you or you are just trying to work yourself into some kind of delusion. How can you truly believe unless it is revealed to you. How can you believe if you do not know what you are believing for? It’s just like the Baptists believe and hang everything on their own confession. But if they are confessing by a mere intellectual assertion on their part, or by mere human reasoning on their part aside from Faith which is a revelation, then their confession is only works.

In the Message I WILL RESTORE, brother Branham, in talking about the Faith of Abel, said, He believed God, because God had revealed it to him.. The word reveal means, "to pull back the veil, in order to make known". In other words it speaks of something that was not known, being made known.  But what if your confession is not based on a reality, or the Living word made alive to you. What if it is based on human reasoning which says, “Yes, I believe that there was a man named Jesus who died for my sins, and this man was the Son of God.” Does that save you? Not if it hasn’t been revealed to you.

JOHN 12:35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. 36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them. 37   But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him: 38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? 39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, 40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart (understanding); that they should not see with [their] eyes, nor understand with [their] heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. 41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

PROVERBS 14:12   There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof [are] the ways of death.

ISAIAH 55:8   For my thoughts [are] not your thoughts, neither [are] your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For [as] the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

From the Message GOD IN SIMPLICITY brother Branham said, Let me read it again now, closely. Who has believed our report?... (Question)... and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? In other words, if you have believed our report, then the arm of the Lord has been revealed. See? Who has believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?

Therefore, until we understand it, until it has been revealed, we can not really believe it. For to believe with a wrong understand of what you are believing is as though not to believe at all.

Romans 10:13   For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Now, this is what the Baptists stand on. But here's the key,  He says, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  But, in verse 9 & 10 he said, you've got to believe first in your heart that God raised up Jesus from the dead and then you've got to confess it. And now he says,  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Therefore, this believing and confessing is your calling upon the Lord. AT THY WORD LORD 54-1207  E-48    Only by your confession can you be saved. That's the most powerful weapon that God put in the hand of man, is a committal and a confession. It'll do it every time, if you'll believe it, accept it on those basis, and believe it and stay with it. Keep confessing it.

But what if you are not sure of what you believe? Can you be saved?

CONTENDING FOR THE FAITH   55-0220E E-66    Jesus said, "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom." You can't understand it. It's a mystic, mythical thing until you're born again. There the very Life of God comes in you. Everlasting, Eternal Life, Zoe, God's own Life comes in you, and then you're a part of God. You're a Son of God or a daughter of God. And then you see as God sees. You believe as God believes.

ROMANS 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher Martin Luther said, “Even though they say they hear, thy boast in vain, unless they hear true preachers; for to hear false preachers means as much as not to hear. They hear and they do not hear; They have ears, but do not hear, nor do they preach the Word of God.”  15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! ?

Remember Jesus Words of warning that he spoke in the Book of Luke.

LUKE 8:17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither [any thing] hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.  18    Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

So then, the entire source and origin of salvation rests on this, that God sends out someone, ( A true minister of the Word).

  1. If He does not send out any, then they who preach, preach falsely, and their preaching is no preaching at all. In fact, it would be better for them not to preach.
  2. Then also they who hear, hear error, and it would be better for them not to hear.
  3. Then also they who believe, would believe false doctrine, and it would be better for them not to believe.
  4. Then also they who call upon Him would call falsely (upon a false Lord),  and it would be better for them not to call.

1        For such preachers do not preach,

2        such hearers do not hear;

3        such believers do not believe;

4        such callers do not call;

5        they will be damned because they would be saved by falsehood.

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?  17 So then  faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. The true, revealed, and vindicated Word of God.

ISRAEL IN EGYPT  53-0325  13    Now, man has always tried to save himself, and do different things to be saved by, but it's never has been in the New Testament by any works of our own; it's "by grace are you saved, through faith." That's the only thing that can save you is grace.

JEHOVAH JIREH  57-0810  E-32    Notice, "Abraham, I'm going to show you how I'm going to do it." And here's the 16th chapter--the 15th chapter, I believe it is, of Genesis. It's a beautiful picture. Now, Abraham was put to sleep by God. "Now, you don't have one thing, Abraham, that you can do to save yourself. But I'm going to show you how I'm going to do it." Now, He put him to sleep so he would be out of the picture altogether. And we're not saved by works; it's by grace, through faith, we are saved, not one thing you can do. Not one little corner could you turn to merit anything towards your salvation; it's a free gift of God by grace. That's right. If you give me a thousand dollars, and I say, "Well, I'll straighten up your tie, sir, for that." A little thing like that, yet you never give me the thousand dollars for I did something to merit that. It's absolutely a free gift of God, that He knocks at your hearts and says, "Do you wish to have it?" That's all.

MESSAGE OF GRACE 61-0827  57    So in the Deity of Jesus Christ, if the Lord God could come there and confirm that that is the truth, not only that, but by His Word He confirms it's the truth, and by signs and wonders He confirms it's the truth. Then, also, grace is the truth. Then why could anyone criticize and say that grace is wrong, that we're saved by works? We are saved by grace, that through faith, not by works. Works shows that you have been saved. But what saves you is the grace of God. Grace saves you. Grace is what God does for you. Works is what you do for God to show appreciation of what God did for you. But by grace are you saved.

COME FOLLOW ME  63-0601  E-44    God does not judge us by what we do, but by what we have accepted. We are saved by our faith, and not in our works.

EPHESIANS 2:8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

II TIMOTHY 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called [us] with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

ROMANS 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law [is] the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God [which is] by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth [to be] a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, [I say], at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. 27 Where [is] boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

ROMANS 4:1   What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? 2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath [whereof] to glory; but not before God. 3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. 4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, 7 [Saying], Blessed [are] they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed [is] the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. (He never said that you didn’t do it, He just doesn’t give you credit for it.)

You know there is an old American tradition that at one time I used to subscribe to, but I don’t any more. And that was this. The American spirit likes to give but has a hard time receiving when someone gives to them. And that is wrong. That’s the sin of Pride. I know because I used to be that way. It was hard for me to receive anything from others, but oh, how I liked to give to them. And that is the way we are with God so many times. Lord let me do this, and do that and do this and that, and we feel good by doing. But what about receiving what He already did, and believing He has already finished what He began? Are we feeling good about believing in the finished work?. Paul then tells us that Abraham’s faith was what God imputed to him for righteousness, and nothing he did for it was imputed to him before he had done anything. 9 ¶ for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. 10 How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. 11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which [he had yet] being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: 12 And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which [he had] being [yet] uncircumcised. 13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, [was] not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if they which are of the law [be] heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: In other words if there is anything you can do to buy a piece of the Kingdom of God, then God’s promise is a vain thing, because who needs a promise if it can be attained without a promise. 16 Therefore [it is] of faith, that [it might be] by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed;

Notice that Abraham was credited, not for any big act of works that he did, but  for his belief that God keeps His Word.

Paul tells us here in Romans  4:20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; He credited God with Keeping His word so God credited Him. 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. 22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. 23 ¶  Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; 24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; 25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

ROMANS 5:1   Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: How else could you ever have peace with God, unless He made a way that your sins would never be uncovered, and exposed to all. 2By whom also we have access by faith (Revelation) into this grace wherein we stand,  and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.(Look, God knew who was in Him and Who was not in Him, and therefore as we mentioned the Prayer of Jesus in St. John 17 how that Jesus saw the Word manifested in those men, because they were able to receive Him and His ministry.) 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Now, here is where our works comes in…ROMANS 6:1   What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also [in the likeness] of [his] resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with [him], that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is freed from sin. 8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: 9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. 10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. 11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13 Neither yield ye your members [as] instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members [as] instruments of righteousness unto God. (Now I want you to notice that Paul is making a suggestion here. He is saying, let not sin reign in you and yield yourselves to God. This is not a Thou Shalt not and a Thou shalt, but rather Paul is saying, if in fact you have reckoned your old life as unfit, and you have sincerely dies to self, then let God Life live out through you, and do not try to hinder it’s expression.)14 For sin shall not have dominion over you (and we know sin is unbelief, so unbelief shall not have dominion over you any longer.) for ye are not under the law, but under grace. 15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. 16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. 19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness. 20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. 21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things [is] death. 22 But now being made free from sin, (unbelief) and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin (unbelief) [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord

In chapter 9 Paul tells us that Israel never attained righteousness because they tried to attain it by doing right, instead of by thinking right which comes by revelation. ROMANS 9:31But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. 32 Wherefore? Because [they sought it] not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; 33  As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

GALATIANS 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

GALATIANS 3:1   O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? 2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? 4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if [it be] yet in vain. 5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, [doeth he it] by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? (Did God call and use William Branham because he was such a fine young man, or did take a young hot tempered young man and cleanse Him by His Word in order to use Him?)  6    Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. 7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, [saying], In thee shall all nations be blessed. 9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. 10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed [is] every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. 11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, [it is] evident: for, The just shall live by faith. 12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
