Now, there's a woman; and she recognizes now that something's happened. That
Light's hanging right over her. She's setting right here, she's... Green
sweater on or something... I don't know the woman. I suppose we are strangers
to one another. That is right. Do you believe that God... You're--you're in
need of something, and you believe that God can reveal to me what your trouble
is? And if He does, then you know it'll have to be a supernatural power,
because I don't know you. And it'll have to come through supernatural. Depends upon what you think it is. You can take your side with the priest,
call it the devil, or you can take the side of the believer and call it God.
Ever which you believe, that's where
your reward will come from. If God will reveal to me your trouble, will you accept Him
as your Atonement for that trouble? I don't know what the trouble is, but I
know and you know that something's going on. Now,
just let me tell you how you're feeling, then you'll know, a real warm,
sweet, comfortable feeling. I'm looking right straight at It. It's that Light, Amber Light hanging
from the woman. And the lady is suffering with a trouble in her stomach. It's a
kind of a growth like in her stomach. She's not from here, no; you're from away
from here, aren't you? That's right. You're from Wisconsin. Is that right?
Sure. Now, you are healed. Your faith has made you whole. Now, tell me who
the woman touched? I'm twenty-five yards from her. She touched Jesus Christ, the High Priest. You
believe that?
Oh, my what a tremendous thing to be witness of. The very God who created the Universe right there in that meeting, and actually working to draw and attract His Children to the Message that He has come to bring them. Now, I want you to notice one particular statement that brother Branham made concerning the woman and her faith.
He said, “Depends upon what
you think it is. You can take your
side with the priest, call it the devil, or you can take the side of the
believer and call it God. Ever which
you believe, that's where your reward will come from. If God will reveal
to me your trouble, will you accept Him as your Atonement for that trouble?”
There are several points within this statement, and I would
like to break it down for just a moment.
#1) “Depends upon what you think it is.”
#2) “Ever which you believe, that's where your
reward will come from.”
Now, I remember years ago looking at these thoughts where
Jesus said, “as the tree leaneth so shall it fall, and brother Branham said
almost 80 times though out his
ministry, “The Right mental attitude towards any promise of God will bring it to
pass, because the Word is a seed,” and every seed will bring forth
after its kind.
MARK 9:23 Jesus said unto
him, If thou canst believe, all things [are] possible to him that believeth.
But it’s your attitude that will either bring it to pass in YOUR life, or not. The attitude you take. When they asked Jesus to teach them to have Faith, Jesus told them it was their own attitude toward the promise that will bring the result.
LUKE 17:5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase
our faith. 6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye
might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou
planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
Notice he said, you shall say to that tree, not ask God, but you say to that tree, and it shall come to be just like you said it. But it depends on your attitude, towards that promise. It’s your faith that does it, that produces the results.
EXPECTATIONS
50-0405 E-13 Just for a little text, if I should call
it that, I want to speak for a moment or two on the word of "Expectation." We always get what we expect. When people expect anything, well then they
usually get what you look for. It's the mental attitude that you have. Remember this, and
never forget it. The right mental attitude towards any promise of God will
bring it to pass, the right mental attitude towards any promise of God.
Remember, how that Job said, “my greatest fears have come
upon me.” Why? Because that is what he sowed. Remember the message I preached a
few years ago called the garden of your mind? We showed in that sermon that
every thought is a seed and as a seed it contains a life or expression of what
it is.
MATTHEW 13:18 Hear ye therefore
the parable of the sower. 19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and
understandeth [it] not, then cometh the wicked [one], and catcheth away that
which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. 20
But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth
the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; 21 Yet hath he not root in himself,
but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of
the word, by and by he is offended. 22 He also that received seed among the
thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the
deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. 23 But he
that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth
[it]; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some
sixty, some thirty.
LUKE 8:11 Now the parable is
this: The seed is the word of God.
And we know the law of reproduction that God set in the
earth back in Genesis 1:11 is that every seed must bring froth after its own
kind, its own nature. So we see that we are looking at a physical manifestation
of a Spiritual Word. Words are not physical, they are spiritual. You can not
see them, feel them, smell them, or taste them. But they are most powerful
because they are a seed. In the Beginning was THE Word and THE Word was God.
And He said and whatsoever He said came to pass.
GOD IN HIS
WORD 57-0323 E-35 God in His
Universe, now God in His Word. You believe God is in His Word? The Bible said that the Word of God is like
a seed that a man sowed. Now, you people here in California raise a lot
oranges, citrus fruit. Did you know that that little tree when you plant it
just about that high, half inch high, that every bushel of--of peaches, apples,
oranges, grapefruit, everything that that little tree will ever bear in all of
its life on the earth, is in it when you set it out? That's right. Certainly it
is; it's a seed, and the life is in the seed. The only thing you'll have to do
is to water the seed. Well, I... You put me on record tonight in these
recorders. I have no apology for this remark that I'm fixing to make. I believe, and can prove, that the right
mental attitude towards any Divine promise of God will bring it to pass.
Yes, sir. The right mental attitude, but you've got to have the right attitude.
The--the attitude is what brings the results. If you say, "Yes, yes, I believe it but I don't know now."
That's not the right attitude. The right attitude is to receive it, and say
it's "THUS SAITH THE LORD." Then it's right.
GOD'S COVENANT
WITH ABRAHAM 56-0223 E-52
What do you do? You'll put the wheat in the ground, and commend it to
God, and it's God's duty to see that it raises. That's the way you do the Seed
of God. Listen to me, any... The right mental attitude towards any
Divine, or the promise of God will bring it to pass. I don't care what it is,
if you can get the right mental attitude towards the promise. For His
promise... "Every the Word of
God," Jesus said, "the Word is the Seed." And every seed is a
promise in there. And if you can just take them seeds into your heart, no
matter what it's for, God will honor it, and it'll bring forth just exactly
what it promised. Oh, my.
GOD REVEALING
HIMSELF TO HIS PEOPLE 50-0813E E-39 The
right mental attitude towards any promise of God will bring it to pass. Do
you believe that? The Word is a Seed (Is
that right?) that a Sower sowed in the ground. And every Seed will bring forth
of its kind. If you need salvation, the Seed's here. If you need healing,
here's the Seed in the Word. The Word of God is a Seed. Put it in your heart.
Don't dig it up every morning to see if it's sprouted, put it in there and
leave it there. It's God's business to bring forth the harvest. You just leave
it there; water it by faith and praise every day thanking God for it. All
right.
BELIEVEST THOU
THIS? 50-0716 E-17 Now, what does the farmer do? He sows the
wheat. Well, look for the harvest. The next morning, what if he goes out there
and uncovers it, say, "Why, it ain't sprouted. There's nothing to it. So I
ain't going to have no wheat." Well, if he isn't going to have any
wheat... If he keeps digging it up, looking at it, he will never have wheat.
You just sow it and let it alone. Amen. There it is. It's up to God to bring it forth.
It's up to God to send the rain. And it's
you to accept God on His Word. Hallelujah. And it's up to God to bring His
Word to pass. No man's worth any more than his word, and God's not worth a bit
more than what His Word is. And I say this with a challenge in faith, that every promise
of God will be brought to pass if you take the right mental attitude towards
it. That's right. Look at it. Believe it.
E-18 John Sproule, many of you
has heard of John, the Glory Barn, years ago. In Alsace Lorraine, France, said
him and his wife walking out one afternoon looking at a statue of Christ. And
he stand out criticizing; he said, "Why, I don't see no suffering. Don't
see nothing that look like anything would be so great about that monument
there." The guide said, "Well, you're looking at it wrong, sir."
Said, "You get down here at the altar." Said, "There's a altar
built here." And said, "Now, look up." He looked up and said,
"Oh, my." His heart like to broke.

Brother, if God requires fundamentalism, then He's got to accept that man,
just the same as He accepts that man. You talk to fundamentalists today, that
don't believe in Divine healing. Talk to fundamentalists; they don't believe in
the baptism of the Holy Spirit with signs and wonders. Be careful how you talk
to them. They say, "We believe in the death, burial and resurrection. We
believe in the second coming of Christ." They preach it. And the nation
has been whored with it. And evangelists has went everywhere preaching it. And
they wonder why we can't have a revival. It's, brothers, because we're not preaching it in the right way. I'm nobody to say
it. But I know what God's Word says is the truth. That's right.
I CORINTHIANS 3:10 According to the
grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the
foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he
buildeth thereupon.
You’ve got to say
it like he said it, and then it will come to pass. You can’t call a door knob a
cow, and then try to milk it, and expect milk to come forth, because that’s not
what it is. It’s a door know, and it is meant for opening and closing a door.
So you must take the Word for what He said it is, and then plant it in your
heart and believe it and it will produce exactly what it is meant to produce.
There is Word Seed
in this Bible for healing, then find that seed and plant it. Believe it. Plant
it in your heart and confess it and believe God will bring it to pass. There is
seed in this bible for your finances to be whole. Then find it, plant it and then
believe that God will bring that Seed into manifestation. There is seed in this Bible for your other
half. Then find that seed in there and plant it and believe for it and watch
what happens. God’s Word is a Seed, and there are seeds in this Bible for healing,
for salvation, for finances, for a spouse, for joy and peace, and on and on and
on. There are seeds in this Bible for every need you have spiritually,
physically and emotionally. Having trouble preparing for a test? Having trouble
be able to study? There are seeds in this Bible that says, PROVERBS 16:3 ¶ Commit thy works
unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
PSALMS 37:5 Commit thy way unto
the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring [it] to pass.
Now, the thing I want
to focus on this morning is actually two things.
Number one, we get
what we are looking for.
And number 2, we
must be careful what we are looking for.
I will never forget years ago, I had a small cavity in the side of one tooth and so I asked the Lord to remove the cavity and about an hour later I put on a can of stew, and after cooking it I prepared to sit down and eat it. I forked a nice piece of meat and chomped down on it, and wouldn’t you know, there was a perfect wedge shaped piece of bone in it and it wedged between that tooth and then next healthier tooth, and broke off the cavity perfectly clean. About 1/3 of the tooth came out in a perfect split, and I no linger had a cavity in that tooth. So you have to be careful what you are believing for or praying for.
So many young people today are lonely and so they start looking for a mate, and they get one all right, but is it the right one. I’ve seen many a young guy and girl go looking for a mate for the wrong reasons. And they get someone to fulfill that reason alright, but then they are left high and dry in all the other areas that really matter. They got what they were looking for, because they weren’t looking for much. They got the dime instead of the silver dollar. And in some cases they didn’t even get a dimes worth.
Now, there are 57
different times in Scripture we are told to be careful or to take heed. And so
this morning we are going to look at these because we have already established
that you will get what you are expecting. So what we expect had beeter be
thought out carefully.
PHILIPPIANS 4:6 Be careful for
nothing (or be careful about anything
or everything);
but in every thing by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts
and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are
true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever
things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of
good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on
these things.
Take Heed:
prosecho {pros-ekh'-o} -- beware
-- give heed to -- take heed to
or unto 2a) to turn the mind to, attend
to be attentive: to a person or a thing: of caring for, providing for 2b) to
attend to one's self, i.e. to give heed to one's self; give attention to, take
heed 3) to apply one's self to, attach
one's self to, hold or cleave to a person or a thing; to be given or addicted
to; to devote thought and effort to
MATTHEW 6:1 ¶ Take heed that ye do not your alms before
men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which
is in heaven.
MATTHEW 16:6 Then Jesus said
unto them, Take heed and beware of the
leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. 7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, [It is] because we
have taken no bread. 8 [Which] when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of
little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
9 Do ye not yet understand, neither
remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
10 Neither the seven loaves of the
four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? 11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake [it] not to
you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and
of the Sadducees? 12 Then understood they how that he bade
[them] not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees
and of the Sadducees.
MARK 4:24 And he said unto
them, Take heed what ye hear: with what
measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you (and this is the
key. The means of measurement you use is what you are going to get back. So if
you hear with a Baptist mindset, that’s what you are going to get. If your
measuring stick is your limited understanding, then that is what you will get
out of it. Don’t limit yourself. He said, “if we be any otherwise minded, God
will reveal it to us”. And so if you ask for correct Revelation upon His Word,
you will get it. ): and unto you that hear shall more be given. 25 For he that hath, to
him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that
which he hath.
LUKE 8:18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever
hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken
even that which he seemeth to have.
MATTHEW 18:10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these
little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always
behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
MATTHEW 24:4 ¶ And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take
heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ;
and shall deceive many.
LUKE 11:34 34
The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single,
thy whole body also is full of light; but when [thine eye] is evil, thy body
also [is] full of darkness. 35 Take
heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. 36 If thy whole body therefore [be] full of
light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the
bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.
LUKE 12:15 And he said unto
them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in
the abundance of the things which he possesseth. 16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a
certain rich man brought forth plentifully: 17 And he thought within himself,
saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
18 And he said, This will I do: I
will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my
fruits and my goods. 19 And I will
say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine
ease, eat, drink, [and] be merry. 20
But God said unto him, [Thou] fool, this night thy soul shall be
required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
21 So [is] he that layeth up treasure
for himself, and is not rich toward God. 22 ¶
And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no
thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall
put on. 23 The life is more than meat, and the body [is more] than raiment. 24
Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have
storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the
fowls? 25 And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one
cubit? 26 If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye
thought for the rest? 27 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they
spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed
like one of these. 28 If then God so
clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the
oven; how much more [will he clothe] you, O ye of little faith? 29 And seek not
ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father
knoweth that ye have need of these things. 31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of
God; and all these things shall be added unto you. 32 Fear not, little flock;
for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell that ye
have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in
the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth
corrupteth. 34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
35 Let your loins be girded about,
and [your] lights burning; 36 And ye
yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the
wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
37 Blessed [are] those servants, whom
the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he
shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and
serve them. 38 And if he shall come
in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find [them] so, blessed
are those servants. 39 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had
known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have
suffered his house to be broken through. 40
Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye
think not.
LUKE 17:1 ¶ Then said he unto the disciples, It is
impossible but that offences will come: but woe [unto him], through whom they
come! 2 It were better for him that a
millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he
should offend one of these little ones. 3
Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke
him; and if he repent, forgive him. 4
And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in
a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
LUKE 21:34 And take heed to
yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and
drunkenness, and cares of this life, and [so] that day come upon you unawares.
35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole
earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy
to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son
of man.
ACTS 5:33 When they heard [that], they were cut [to
the heart], and took counsel to slay them. 34 Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named
Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and
commanded to put the apostles forth a little space; 35 And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take
heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men. 36 For before these days rose up Theudas,
boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred,
joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were
scattered, and brought to nought. 37
After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and
drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, [even] as many as
obeyed him, were dispersed. 38 And
now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this
counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: 39 But if it be of God,
ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.
40 And to him they agreed: and when
they had called the apostles, and beaten [them], they commanded that they
should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. 41 And they departed
from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to
suffer shame for his name. 42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they
ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
ACTS 20:27 For I have not
shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. 28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and
to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to
feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 29 For I
know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you,
not sparing the flock. 30 Also of your
own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples
after them. 31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years
I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears. 32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God,
and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an
inheritance among all them which are sanctified. 33 I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel. 34 Yea, ye
yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to
them that were with me. 35 I have
shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and
to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to
give than to receive. 36 ¶ And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled
down, and prayed with them all. 37
And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul's neck, and kissed him, 38 Sorrowing most of all for the words which
he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto
the ship.
I CORINTHIANS 8:9 But take heed lest
by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are
weak.
I CORINTHIANS 10:12 Wherefore let him
that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. 13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to
man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye
are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may
be able to bear [it]. 14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
15 ¶
I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.
GALATIANS 5:14 For all the law is
fulfilled in one word, [even] in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as
thyself. 15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not
consumed one of another. 16 [This] I
say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit,
and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other:
so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest,
which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance,
emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of
the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they
which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified
the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory,
provoking one another, envying one another.
COLOSSIANS 4:17 Take
heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it.
I TIMOTHY 4:16 Take
heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this
thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
HEBREWS 3:12 Take heed,
brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing
from the living God. 13 But exhort
one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened
through the deceitfulness of sin. 14
For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our
confidence stedfast unto the end; 15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his
voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. 16 For some, when they had heard, did
provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. 17 But with whom was he grieved forty years?
[was it] not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
18 And to whom sware he that they
should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? 19 So
we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
II PETER 1:19 ¶ We have also a more sure word of prophecy;
whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark
place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of
the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake [as they were] moved by the
Holy Ghost.
HEBREWS CHAPTER 2 PART
1 57-0825M 33-2 In the 1st
chapter we found that it was exalting the Lord Jesus. Oh, how he brought down
to show by the--by the experience that he'd had on his road to Damascus... Now,
Paul was, to begin with, a real theologian. Paul was taught under Gamaliel, one
of the best teachers of that day. And he was smart and intelligent, and was a
real shrewd Bible scholar. And I found this, when he was on his road down to Damascus
with letters in his pocket to arrest all those that were in the blessed old
Gospel way... And the man was sincere. But I've always believed that since Paul
seen Stephen die, I think that must've got right next to him. When he consented
to Stephen's death and held the coats of those who stoned him, then Paul was
guilty of the blood of Stephen. And he confessed and said, "I'm not even
worthy," said, "because I shed the blood of His--of His--of--of the
martyr, Stephen." 'Cause he witnessed to it.
33-4 And if you witness to anything, you're
just as guilty as being a partaker of it. So if we witness, say, "Oh, yes,
they oughtn't to have did this, this so-and-so." Be careful what you say,
because you're guilty the way your judgment goes. If you can't decide, don't
say nothing; just leave it alone. Then when you testify that you are a
Christian, then you're guilty. See? You're guilty of being a Christian, and you
must live to that. And when God makes a--a promise in the Bible... (I see a man
here in a wheelchair.) When God makes a promise, He's guilty of that promise
unless He brings it to pass. And God's guilty when He makes a promise. And the
Scriptures are guilty until They're fulfilled. See? They're--they're right
there as a--as a statement that God has made. And It's got to be fulfilled or
God's guilty. See?
TIME OF DECISION
59-0418 E-19 So they called in the young girl, Rebekah.
And perhaps the conversation was something like this. "Rebekah, we have
fed you and raised you to the best of our knowledge to be a--a virgin girl, and
that you are. But here comes a stranger among us with some evidence that there
is a rich man who's going to give to his son all these blessings. Do you wish
to go with him now, or do you wish to wait for about ten days till you make up
your mind?"
Now, remember the
servant said, "I want to be on my way. God has give me good favor, and I'm
ready to be on my way." God... Don't never put off tomorrow what you can
do today. That's the way the message is when it's preached. You hear of a King,
God, Who His Son, Christ, falls heir to all things. And we've got a little
foretaste of it by the Holy Spirit. What do you think about Him? Have you got
faith in Him? E-20 Remember, she had to choose by faith.
She'd never seen the man. But she had to choose by faith and the words of a
servant. That's the same way you'll have to do. 'Cause, that's the only way
there is to do it. God sends out His servants and they preach the Word. Faith
cometh by hearing. What do you think about it? That's up to you to make your
choice. I would advise you not to put it off. You say, "Well, I have
always longed to receive the Holy Spirit. I better think it over." Don't
think it over. This is the time. It's the truth. "I believe that God would
heal me someday." As long as you keep that in your mind, you're a defeated
person. God healed you nineteen hundred years ago. Now is the day of your
decision when you hear the message that Christ was wounded for your
transgressions, with His stripes you were healed. This is the time now to
believe it.
E-21
You have to make other decisions. Before you get married, you have to
decide on what girl you're going to make your wife. And you women have to
decide on what man's going to be your husband. You better not put it off too
long; he might change his mind.
Like the woman was
here some time ago; she had two men, they were both good men. And she couldn't
make up her mind which one she was going to marry, and she lost them both. So
God wants immediate action. If you love Him, throw everything else aside and
take Him. If you believe His Word, cast everything else away and take His Word.
It's a time of decision. You have to make up your mind. E-22 In politics, you have to make up your mind
who you're going to vote for. Deciding on a car, the family has to make up
their mind what kind of car they're going to get. There's many times you're
forced to a decision, and you're almost at that spot right now. Sinner friend
here, and in radio-land both. You are now on the spot. What are you going to do
about it? You say, "Oh well, I don't care about praying. I... My life is
young, and I--I don't think I--I have to do it now." Don't put it off too
long.
E-23
Here a few weeks ago... Many of you in radio-land and in here are very
well acquainted with the story of that airplane falling up in the eastern
states there in New York, and drowning all those people trying to go under the
bridge. About two weeks before that, there was a trial about some property down
in the... on the bowery. And they had a couple of little preachers down there
who could hardly sign their own name, not educated. And a great lawyer by the
name of Greenwall was just a working these little fellows over. They had said,
"Get rid of that. What could you do to it? You couldn't embetter the
place." But they had an abstract deed. So they wanted to hold it. They
said, "What can you do for it when you can't hardly sign your own name? We
need that for something else."
E-24
And the little fellows come to the stand. And one of them got up, and he
said, "Sirs, it is true that we don't have educations, and we couldn't
improve the property. But the Lord led us to take that place. The Lord told us
to do it." And Mr. Greenwall stood up in his spirit, and he said, "We
don't need God in this. We don't have nothing to do with it. Don't you call God
in on this. We don't want Him in on this." Two weeks later, he drowned in
the water in that airplane wreck. I wonder if he had time, or wanted to call
the Lord into it then or not. See, there's a time when you're forced, and be
careful what you say.
E-25
Two years ago I was in Phoenix, Arizona. And Mr. Brown... Many of you
know him, Mr. Young Brown, Brother Jack Moore's associate. We were trying to
find a cheaper hotel. I don't believe it's... I better not say that. Well, I
started it, I might as well keep it up. I--I don't believe it's good, and I
don't believe it's... It's all right. I don't say you're not a Christian, but I
don't think it's becoming to a Christian to try to have--have the best. I get
so sick and tired of hearing people say, "Oh, I wouldn't go to that
place." I've never seen the place yet I couldn't go for the Lord, care
where it would be. If it's a little mission... If it's wherever it may be, I
don't care. I don't think we should try to put on a lot of make-belief, what we
call, it's a worldly expression, "put on the dog." I don't think we
should do that. Christians... That's not becoming to a Christian. Our Lord
didn't even have a place to lay His head. He had no house to live in. As I said
this morning, my little boy said to me, a few weeks... About a week before I
come down to California, he was laying on the couch looking up at the picture
of Jesus, and he said, "Has Jesus got a boat?" He loves fishing so
well. And I thought, "No. When He preached the Gospel, He had to borrow a
boat." But He's the Captain of the Old Ship of Zion.
E-26
Whole lot of put-on, we don't need it. And the church being nice, they
put me up in a--a ritzy hotel. I didn't even know how to use the forks at the
table. And--and all them stuff laying out there, I--I had to watch somebody
else to see which fork they'd pick up. I--I--I didn't know how to use it. And I
wanted to get out of there. And I was trying to find me a--a cheap hotel. And I
was riding around town, and I said, "Brother Brown, stop there, and I'll go
over on the side of the street, and we'll wait for you." He said... I
said, "Ask them if they got a room." And it looked like kind of a
third or fourth class hotel. And so he went over and a few moments he come
running across the street, and he J-walked. I think that's what you call it out
here and pay fifteen dollars for it. But they... He J-walked across the street.
And there was a little policeman setting over there. Oh, my. Did he tear him
up. And he said, "Where you from, anyhow?"
E-27
And Brother Brown, just about like myself, can't talk good. And he said,
"I'm from Louisiana." He said, "Do you mean that they let you
J-walk in Louisiana?" And he said, "Just walk anywhere you want
to." So he--he said, "Walk across the street?" Said,
"Yes." He said, "You're a lying." Mr. Moore said, "No.
I'll voucher for him." Said, "We can walk anywhere you want to in
Shreveport where we live, as long as you're just watch your traffic." Oh,
and that little policeman got arrogant. And Mr. Brown said, "Sir, I'm only
telling you the truth." He said, "You did that just to act smart,
'cause you seen me on the corner and knowed I was a policeman." You know,
one of these little fellows wants a feather in their cap? So he said,
"You're just acting smart. I'm going to jerk you out of there and put you
in jail." He said, "Mister, you can put me in jail if that's your
rules." But said, "I'm a minister of the Gospel." He said,
"I don't lie. I'm honest. If I'd knowed you shouldn't done that, I would
not have done it." He said, "But I didn't know any difference."
E-28
Oh, and he got real nasty about it. And I told him I was a minister, and
Mr. Moore was a minister. There was two more ministers in the car. Oh, he
really got raw then. "Ministers, law breakers." And I said, "We're
not law breakers, sir." I said, "We're honorable men who preach the
Gospel." And he... Something said to me like this. "Be not deceived,
for God is not mocked. Whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap." I
just quit talking to the fellow. Held my head down and let him go ahead till he
got all the steam blowed out. And then he threatened us and everything else.
And of course, they'd been brought before a judge. And the man proved that he
didn't know any difference. We hadn't been there but two days. And we'd been...
He'd been living out in the--one of those side streets way out, King's Courts,
or something like that. And he didn't know any different. But the policeman,
just to be nasty... But you know, the Bible said, "Touch not Mine
anointed." I said, "Well, did you get the room, Brother Brown?"
He said, "Didn't have any." I said, "Well, I will go back."
E-29
And we started driving out. And I took them back to their place about
six blocks away or a little more. And I come back around just in time to see
the man try to run around a man making a right hand turn, and was crushed under
the wheels. I stopped my car, and pulled over to one side to be sure if that
was the policeman, and it was. He'd run under a truck making a right hand turn
(Policeman's fault.), slid his tires sideways, and went right under the big
wheels of that truck. There he was mashed up, legs broke, arms broke, couldn't
scream, he's out unconscious. Pulled him out. And I stood there and I thought,
"Now, what about it?" See, you get sometimes in a tight place; be
sure you make the right decision. Put God in everything that you do. Make your
decisions.
E-30
There's sometimes maybe when you have some money that you want to put
away. Perhaps maybe you and your wife saved up money and--and got enough money
to put away to kinda take care of you in your old days. That's all right.
That's a legitimate thing to do. But then, perhaps, what if the time comes when
you're to put it away, you've got to make a decision where you put it. Now, what
if I come to you and say, "Say, here's a place you can put it down here
that's a... Oh, one of these here fly-by-nights, you know, but... Get rich
overnight. Put it in there. It's a little chance." You'd say, "No,
sir. I won't put my money in such a place, because it's just a new thing."
But what would you look for, to find a place to keep the money that--that you
knew if you lost it, in old age you'd probably be out on the street begging.
But with this money, if you put it in the right place, you'd have a security of
your old age. You know what you'd do? You would find the best old reliable
company that you could find and invest your money. Sure, 'cause you don't want
to be on the street in your old age. You'd quickly decide. Though it didn't pay
as much dividends, yet you'd want your money safe. If you think that much about
your old age in your life here, what about Eternal Life? What about the life
you've got to live--live in hereafter? You're...
