Preparation #53 Confession

Sunday December 5th,  1999

Brian Kocourek

PREPARATION 53-1111  E-92    I'm telling you now; when you walk to the altar one day and said, "I accept Jesus Christ as my Saviour," raise up your hand and started praising, thanking Him for your salvation. You couldn't show any physical results, but you went ahead and you believed it. You stayed with it; you confessed it; you believed it. And now, you... Everybody knows you got it. Do the same thing by healing. Accept Him on the same basis. "I accept Him as my Healer." Don't get that little old cowed down saying "Well, I don't believe I can move this foot." Why not? You might not be able to walk perfect for a month. But kick that crutch away and walk away anyhow. It's your God given privilege. Amen.

HEBREWS 3:1

  1       Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our

         profession, Christ Jesus;

  2    Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses [was faithful] in all his house.

  3    For this [man] was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more

         honour than the house.

  4    For every house is builded by some [man]; but he that built all things [is] God.

  5    And Moses verily [was] faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken

         after;

  6    But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the

         hope firm unto the end.

  7       Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,

  8    Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

  9    When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

  10    Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in [their] heart; and they have not known

          my ways.

  11    So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)

  12    Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

  13    But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

  14    For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

  15    While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

  16    For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.

  17    But with whom was he grieved forty years? [was it] not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the

          wilderness?

  18    And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

  19    So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

HEBREWS 4:14   Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let

            us hold fast [our] profession.

15       For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points

           tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

HEBREWS 10:19

  19       Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

  20    By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

  21    And [having] an high priest over the house of God;

  22    Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

23  Let us hold fast the profession of [our] faith without wavering; (for he [is] faithful that promised;)

  24    And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

  25    Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some [is]; but exhorting [one another]: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

26    For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

ROMANS 10:8     But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, [even] in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9        That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10    For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11    For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

   homologeo    {hom-ol-og-eh'-o}

  --confess (17)

  -- profess

MATTHEW 10:32  Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

  33    But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

JOHN 12:42     Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess [him], lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

  43    For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

JAMES 5:13     Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

  14    Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

  15    And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

  16    Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

  17    Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

  18    And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

  19    Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;

  20    Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

I JOHN 1:7  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

  8       If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

  9    If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

  10    If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

I JOHN 4:15    Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

II JOHN 1:7    For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

8  Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

10  If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into [your] house, neither bid him God speed:

11   For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

I TIMOTHY 6:11   But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

  12    Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

ATTITUDE AND WHO IS GOD? 50-0815  E-35    And when the inspiration of the Holy Spirit is here to inspire you, remember, God will make your body come into your confession. If you say you're a drunkard, and want a drink. Don't worry, you'll soon be one. If you say you're a sinner, and want to sin, you'll be right into it. If you say you're a Christian and believe it all along, God will bring... Your testimony will bring you right into it. If you believe in healing, and believe that God has healed you, confess it, and God will make your body obey your confession, for He's the High Priest of your confession; setting at the right-hand of the Father now with His own Blood to make intercessions for any confession upon anything that He died for. And He died to rid sin. And sickness is the result of sin. "He was wounded for our transgressions, with His stripes we are healed." Remember that. Have faith. Don't waiver. Stand on it.

MANIFESTATION OF THE SPIRIT 51-0717   E-19    Now, remember, it isn't how much you cry; it isn't how much you repent; it isn't how loud you can cry to God; it isn't how sincere you can be; it's how much faith that you have when you come to Him. He doesn't save you on the merits of your prayer. He doesn't save you upon the merits of your righteousness. He saves you upon the merits of your faith. It's by faith are you saved, and that through grace. Now, you come to the altar realizing that you're a sinner and you are sorry for your sins. You repent of what you've done. And you can stay there and cry for week in and out. And it would never save you until you believe in your heart that you are saved. Is that right? Then you confess it. Now, He can't do nothing for you until you confess it. Is that right? For He is the High Priest of (conjunction)--of your confession. He can do nothing... "You confess Me before men, I'll confess you before the Father." Is that right? "What you say I done down here for you, that's what I say the Father that you... that I have done for you." He's the High Priest. You get that young man? The High Priest of your confessions. Now, here He is setting here to make intercessions on my confession, and I have a right to confess that He's done anything for me that's in the redemptive blessings. There you are. What was the redemptive blessings? "He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquity, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, with His stripes we're healed." Is that right? That's every believer's possession. That's mine.

          E-20    You know what I find in traveling? I say this with humbleness. I find two classes of people. One, the fundamental, the other one, the Full Gospel. They're both fine classes of people. But here's the trouble. The fundamental knows what they are, positionally, in Christ, but don't have much faith to exercise it. The Full Gospel's got plenty of faith, but don't know what they are. That's right.  Just like a man's got a lot of money in the bank, but he don't know how to write a check. And the other man's got no money in the bank and he knows how to write a check. If I could ever get them together. If you realize that you're a son and daughter of God, and the deposit's made in Calvary, and you've got a checkbook in your hand, write anything you want to on there, God's promised to take care of it. It's in the bank. It was deposited at Calvary. Your salvation, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, you're worries, and things gone. And everyone of you can be perfectly made well, 'cause your redemption is already redeemed before God, and He's setting at the right-hand of God to make intercessions upon your confession.

  E-21    I'm a Baptist, but that... Not... I'm a Pentecostal Baptist. I got the Holy Ghost, so that changed my things a little bit. But look, brother, that would almost make me shout, to think that I have a right to anything that He died for. He put it in the deposit box at Calvary, and give me a checkbook, said, "Write whatever you want to. I'll take care of it. Just send it up to Me." Oh, my. That's wonderful. There He is to make... Now, how do you get saved? Let's take it in a childlike form where every believer, no matter if you're--what church you belong to. And your pastor, if he's a right man, he will tell you that--that you can only be saved through faith, not through works, through faith. Now, you believe that He saved you. Now, first thing, that comes from the heart. You believe it. Then you walk up and confess it. Say, "I accept Jesus as my personal Saviour. I believe He saved me." There's not a physical thing in the world that you could prove that you're saved. Your eyes are the same color, got the same shirt on you had on. Go outside and the old gang says, "They ain't nothing to that." But you believe there's something to it, don't you. Now, how... What if you say, "Well I'm going to see how it works out." It'll never work out until you keep your testimony going. You believe you're saved. You act like you're saved. You say you're saved. And you associate with those that are saved, and it works salvation. Is that right? And the same thing will take place by Divine healing. You believe you're healed. You act like He healed you. You say you're healed. And He's a High Priest of your confession to make good anything that you confess that He's done before--fore the Father. There it is.

    E-22    I've seen sarcomas cancer... And brother, the kings and rulers of the nations and earth won't call for fanaticism. You know that. But it's the truth as I'm standing here. It's God's Eternal truth. When you believe it, and act upon your faith, God will bring it to pass.

MATTHEW 21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this [which is done] to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

22     And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

MARK 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

  24    Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive [them], and ye shall have [them].

25And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

26     But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

JAMES 1:2

  2       My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

  3    Knowing [this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

  4    But let patience have [her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

  5    If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

  6    But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

  7    For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

  8    A double minded man [is] unstable in all his ways.

ONLY ONE TRUE LIVING CHURCH  51-0727   E-45    Psalms 103:3 said, "I'm the Lord Who forgives all of thine iniquity (Do you believe that?), Who heals all of thy diseases." Now, you might come and confess your sins to me, and ask me to pray for you, but I cannot forgive you. If you sinned against me, I can forgive you. But if you sinned against God, He is the only one that can forgive. And He has forgiven every person in the world, and ever will be in the world. They're already forgiven, but it will never help them until they accept it by faith and then confess it. And He's healed all the sick people, but it will never help them, until they confess it by faith, and believe it, and act upon their confession. "For as the body is dead without the Spirit," says James, "so is faith without works." You've got to believe it and act like it. When you accept Him as your Saviour, you've got to believe it and act like Him.

AT THY WORD LORD  51-0928  E-59   For you would know that He's the High Priest of your confession, that He's at the right-hand of Father to make intercession for anything that you confess He's done; it's all yours. The checkbook's in your hand. Everything that heaven owns is yours, you got a checkbook. The only thing you have to do is say, "I believe it; I'll sign my name to it; it's mine." Go right on out believing it, testifying of it, and you'll get well. See? Amen.

JESUS CHRIST THE SAME YESTERDAY  53-0506   E-12  A man could come to the altar; he could pray all night. He could cry, he could beg, he could plead, walk up-and-down the floors, make restitutions. But until he believed and accepted, he'd still be a sinner. For Hebrews 3 said, "Jesus Christ is the High Priest of our confession," profession, the same translation is confession. He's the High Priest of our confession, therefore, He can't do nothing for us, until first, we confess that He has done it. And then He goes to work as a high Priest, making good what we profess, that He has done. What... And He will make good anything that He included in His atonement.

AT.THY.WORD.LORD_  JOHNSON.CITY.NY  TUESDAY_  54-1207  E-47    For God can only save you as you testify. He can only heal you as you testify. He is setting at the right hand of the Father tonight to make intercession upon your profession. It isn't how loud you cry, how hard you beat the altar, how many good deeds you do; it's your faith that saves you. And if you'll confess it with your lips and coming from your heart, He goes to work as a High Priest setting at the right hand of the Father to make intercessions upon your confession. Hebrews 3:1, He cannot do one thing for you until first you believe it and accept and confess it to be so. And the people today, they'll go out, say, "Well, I felt better last night, but today I'm so bad I just can't hardly stand it." That's just exactly when you lose your confession and drop right down. No matter who you are, how saintly, how godly you are, you're a minister, clergyman, or you're a deacon, or whatever you are, or you been a Christian for fifty years, if you go out of here tomorrow and lose faith that you're a Christian and start telling people you're not a Christian anymore, you're backslid. You're gone.

AT THY WORD LORD 54-1207  E-48    Only by your confession can you be saved. That's the most powerful weapon that God put in the hand of man, is a committal and a confession. It'll do it every time, if you'll believe it, accept it on those basis, and believe it and stay with it. Keep confessing it. When you confess it...

JESUS CHRIST THE SAME 55-0603   E-6  Now, I believe that healing is in the atonement, that it was included when Isaiah said, "He was wounded for our transgressions with His stripes we were healed." When Jesus died at Calvary, He saved every sinner that ever was. But it will never do you no good, until you personally accept it as your personal Saviour. And He healed every sick person that would ever be sick. But it'll never do you no good until you accept it as your own personal property. "He was wounded for our transgressions; with His stripes we were healed." It's all past tense. All God can do for you He's already did when He, Jesus died for--to reconcile sinners and back to Christ at Calvary.   Now, that's the Gospel, friends, as clear as I know it. Now, it's the individual. Now, maybe say, "Well, what's the use in preaching?" That's what a minister's for. God sent preachers to preach the Word. When you hear It, search it, see it's the truth, accept it. Now, the preacher doesn't save you. His message doesn't save you. Your personal faith in a risen Lord Jesus is what saves you. No matter how much you'd cry. How loud you would holler. How much you would take on. It'll never save you until you believe it with all your heart, and stand up, and confess it. For He's the High Priest of our confession, Hebrews 3, or what we confess He's the High Priest to make intercessions upon what we confess is the truth. Anything that was included in the atonement is the personal property of every believer. When a man gets saved or a women, boy, or girl, God gives them a check book, as it was, with Jesus' Name at the bottom of every check for anything redemptive blessing that Jesus died for. It's your personal property. Don't be afraid to fill it out. The bank of heaven will recognize it Jesus said, "Whatsoever things you desire when you pray, believe you receive it. Whatever you ask the Father in My Name that I will do," the unlimited unsearchable riches of Jesus Christ in that promise.

LED BY THE SPIRIT  59-0407  E-45    Now, do you believe that He is the High Priest today according to the Book of Hebrews? The High Priest, He is setting His body, that corporal body that God was manifested in, for God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself... Now, God's in His Church reconciling the world to Himself. But then when Jesus died for--to make the atonement. He rose on the third day, and God raised that body up and set It on His right hand in glory. You believe that? He's setting on the throne of God, the right hand of power and majesty in glory. And then, as we make confessions, then that body stands there as a perpetual atonement. And when we confess that He's did anything, He's a High Priest there to stand in our place, a sacrifice, a sacrificed High Priest, that's standing in the Presence of God with His own Blood to make intercessions upon our confession. E-46    Now, here's what you do then. Say, "Lord Jesus, the great High Priest of the Covenant, I most humbly come to Thee in confession of my sin." Now, sin is unbelief. Smoking's not a sin. Drinking's not a sin. Committing adultery is not sin. That's the attributes of unbelief. If you believed, you wouldn't do those thing. See? There's only one sin, and that's unbelief: "He that believeth not is condemned already." See? You smoke, lie, steal, drink, commit adultery, because you're not a believer. A believer doesn't do that. He's passed from death unto Life. "He that heareth My Words and believeth on Him that sent Me has Eternal Life, and shall never come to the judgment, but's passed from death to life." John 5:24.

IT IS I BE NOT AFRAID  60-0329 E-8  And now, it's your faith in that finished work that does the work. That's the way it is. You confess it, and He's the High Priest of our confession. He cannot do anything to you, until first you profess that you accept--that you confess what He said, "By His stripes I was healed." Then He's the High Priest to make intercessions upon our confession. And if that ain't the Gospel, I don't know it, and I've--I been wrong. But I've seen Him do it to much.

PROVING HIS WORD 65-0426   215    I want you without the prayer cards now. The prayer cards will be called up. I want you to pray.The Bible said that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He says, He's a High Priest setting there making intercessions upon our confession. We have to confess it first, before He can be a High Priest, 'cause He only intercedes to our confession. Is that right, minister brethren? See, He only intercedes upon our confession, what we confess that He is, what He has done for us, not what He will do. He's already done it. We have to confess that He's done it. "He was wounded for our transgressions; with His stripes we were healed."

WE WOULD SEE JESUS 58-0523   E-12    Now, if Mohammed's a living, let him speak. If Jesus a living, let Him speak, and you decide. Don't never be afraid to put any Divine promise of God to action. And remember, don't never forget this quotation: "That the right mental attitude towards any Divine promise in this Bible will bring it to pass." Just remember that. The right mental attitude toward any Divine promise that's written in this Bible will bring it to pass. So now, just keep that on your mind. If God made a promise, and you'll take the right attitude towards that promise, God will fulfill everything that He's promised. I know that to be true. And I've seen sarcomas cancer healed with that, because people believe that it was the Truth.

WE WOULD SEE JESUS SIRS 60-0109  E-10    And may I go on record just now saying this: That I believe that the right mental attitude toward any Divine promise of God will bring it to pass. If you can take the right attitude toward that promise... For the promise is a seed. A seed goes into the ground, and if it's a germitized seed--got life in it--it'll bring forth its kind, if it's put in the proper place. If a seed is put into the ground... And Jesus said "The Word of God was a Seed a man sowed." He was the Man that sowed it. And then, if the Word of God is the Seed, and the Seed's put in proper condition, in a heart full of faith, it'll make every promise live, bring forth what it promised.

GOD IN HIS WORD 57-0323   E-35    God in His Universe, now God in His Word. You believe God is in His Word? The Bible said that the Word of God is like a seed that a man sowed. Now, you people here in California raise a lot oranges, citrus fruit. Did you know that that little tree when you plant it just about that high, half inch high, that every bushel of--of peaches, apples, oranges, grapefruit, everything that that little tree will ever bear in all of its life on the earth, is in it when you set it out? That's right. Certainly it is; it's a seed, and the life is in the seed. The only thing you'll have to do is to water the seed. Well, I... You put me on record tonight in these recorders. I have no apology for this remark that I'm fixing to make. I believe, and can prove, that the right mental attitude towards any Divine promise of God will bring it to pass. Yes, sir. The right mental attitude, but you've got to have the right attitude. The--the attitude is what brings the results. If you say, "Yes, yes, I believe it but I don't know now." That's not the right attitude. The right attitude is to receive it, and say it's "THUS SAITH THE LORD." Then it's right.

TESTIMONY OF A TRUE WITNESS  61-1105  254    Laying upon this pulpit this morning, lays handsful of handkerchiefs, coming from sick and afflicted. God, let the God that--that give me this message yesterday, let the God that spoke through Brother Higginbotham this morning and predicted It was coming, let the God Who shows the visions, speak. I defy every devil and take this mountain by faith. Who are you, great mountain of sickness, that would stand before the Lord? Why, you'll become as a plain. Who are you, river or--or dead sea, that would stand anything dead before God? Open up your way, we're coming over. We're going to the promised land. Heal every one of these, Lord. Heal every one that's setting present that's sick. Who are you, sickness, who do you think you are? Satan, who do you claim to be? Every claim that you have was canceled at Calvary. You're a bluff. You have no rights. We defy you, in the Name of Jesus Christ as a Holy Ghost filled body. And let the God that has guided me through my life, the God Who gives the visions and speaks His Words that comes to pass, let Him, through the Name of Jesus Christ, drive every sickness away from this people this morning. You said, "Speak, and don't doubt, but believe that what you've said will come to pass, you can have what you said." Who did that? The Witness of God said That. And I bear witness this morning that that Word's true, Satan, so you have to leave.

JESUS CHRIST THE SAME  63-0627 205  "If you say to this mountain, 'Be moved,' and don't doubt in your heart, but believe that what you've said will come to pass, you can have what you've said. When you pray, believe you receive what you asked for; it shall be given unto you." O God, such promises. "If ye abide in Me, and My Word abide in you, then ask what you will."

WHY  59-0813  E-8    I don't care what it is. If you say to the mountain, "Be moved." And maybe, if you've got to go over the mountain for a purpose, not to say... Somebody would say, "Oh, I'm a great man of faith. I move that mountain." It'll never move. But if there's something over the mountain that you've got to get over there for to do the will of God, and you can't get over it, under it, around it, and yet something in your heart is telling you to go, you speak the word. Don't you doubt. And maybe when you speak the word, only one little grain of sand will fall. But it's on its road. The next day, a spoonful may drop, the next day, a teacup full. You'll never notice it. But if you'll just hold steady, knowing that it's being done, after while, the whole thing'll fall in. That's the way it is by Divine healing. When you see the working of the Holy Spirit, the Word laid on, and the Holy Spirit anointing that Word, and proving it that He is here in our midst to vindicate Himself and to give to you the promise, then you accept your healing.
