The Doctrine of Christ no 10
“Jesus could learn, God is
Omniscient”

This evening we will take a
very short Message on point number 10 in our comparisons between the Father and
Son, and that is this: Jesus the son of God could learn while God His Father is
Omniscient which mean he is all knowing and therefore by definition can not
learn because He already knows all things.
For
our text we will read from Hebrews 5:8 Though he were a
Son, yet learned he obedience by
the things that he suffered.
Let us continue reading for our text from the second
chapter of Luke where we will see that Jesus could learn showing he was not
omniscient.
Luke
2:40 And the child grew, and increased in spirit, filled
with wisdom: (This word filled means to fill up,
so if a vessel is said that it can be filled up, then what level did it have to
begin with? In other words if it can be filled, it wasn’t full to begin with.)
and the grace of God was upon him. (Now grace is divine favor, especially
the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including
gratitude) so in this verse we are told of the influence that God had upon His
Son.
Now
his parents went to
Now,
let’s stop here to look at this scene that we just read. William Branham
vindicated prophet of God said in his sermon A paradox…
“Paradox 64-0206B P:104 Look here.
She said, "Your father and I have sought You day and night with
tears." She discredited her first
testimony. She called Joseph His father. Now, look at this twelve-year-old
Boy, not knowing what He said. He was just a boy, but He was the Word. See? He
said, "Know
ye not that I must be about My Father's business?” See the Word correcting the error? See? She
was giving testimony after He was raised up; it was all over now. See? "Your father and I have sought You," going exactly what... She said she
had conceived this Child by the Holy Ghost, and then calling Joseph the father.
And this little Boy, twelve-year-old
Child, no wisdom at all, why, but just a twelve-year-old Boy... The Father didn't dwell in Him at that
time, because He come on the day when He baptized Him; he saw the Spirit of God
coming down (See?), and went in Him. But look, this little twelve-year-old
Boy, being the Word; He was born the anointed One (See?), to be the anointed. And here He was. "Know ye not that I must be about My Father's
business?” She said, "Your father and I have been looking for you.” If Joseph was His father, he'd have been
with Him on his business, making doors and houses. But He was in the temple straightening out those organizations. See?
"Know ye not that I must be
about My Father's business?”
See how the Word of God corrected that error in that Child? Amen. God bless
you.”
Notice that he said this twelve year old child, no
wisdom at all. So with his no wisdom at all he was able to ask questions and
give answers that boggled the minds of the teachers, because let’s face it, He
was born to be the anointed One, and the Spirit of God (God-Life) was in him
since birth, but the person of God Himself had not yet entered into him to
indwell him at this time.
No we see this statement, this
little Boy, twelve-year-old Child, no wisdom at all, why, but just a
twelve-year-old Boy... The Father
didn't dwell in Him at that time, because He come on the day when He baptized
Him; he saw the Spirit of God coming down (See?), and went in Him,” shows
us that the young Jesus did not at this time (at 12 years old) he did not yet possess
the Wisdom that he would one day possess. That is why we can read in Luke
chapter 2 that this child would grow in wisdom…
Luke
2:52 And Jesus
increased in wisdom and stature, and
in favour with God and man.
Now without any preconceived notions if we read what
the Scripture here tells us, we must conclude that this child Jesus could go
from one level of wisdom to a greater level of wisdom. He could grow from one
stature to another stature. He could increase or grow in the Grace and Favor
with God. So that tells us he ids not the one that is the same yesterday, today
and forever.
Therefore, we should be able to see
from this that Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same
yesterday, today and forever” is not
the son of God, it is the God of the Son as we also see in Malachi
3:6 “For I am the Lord God, I
change not.”
So the one who does not change, and therefore can not
increase in wisdom, and can not increase in stature, and can not increase in
favor with God, would have to be God Himself, or we are not reading this
Scripture correctly. But I believe we are reading it just as it is written. We
are not adding too it to say these things and we are not taking from it to say
these things. We are saying exactly what the Scriptures teach us.
Now, we read three things in this verse that tells us
of an ability that Jesus had in his ability to grow or increase.
So what are these three things that Jesus the son of God could grow or increase in?
1)
Wisdom
2)
Stature
3)
Favor with God
So then what is
wisdom? The Greek word for wisdom is Sophia and it literally
means wisdom. So what does the word wisdom mean? 1. Understanding of what is true, right, or
lasting; insight: 2. Common
sense; good judgment: therefore, “It is a characteristic of wisdom not to do
desperate things” 3. Knowledge.
So we see that Jesus
grew or increased in wisdom, that means he grew or increased in commons sense, he grew in understanding, he
grew in knowledge of what is true andwhat
is right and what is lasting. Therefore Jesus was not omniscient, or all knowing because we are tool that he grew in these things.
No. 2) stature. What
is it? The Greek word translated as stature is “helikia” which means maturity. The English word Stature is defined 1. The natural height of a human being or an animal in an upright position.
2. An achieved level; status. Therefore since the Greek definition
is maturity this tells me that the Trinitarian mind that translated this verse
could not cope with the thought that the son of God could grow in maturity
since in their mind he is God. Thus they did not properly use the right word to
translate this verse of scripture because when you think in terms of stature
you would think of statue or the height and physical features, but that is not
what the Greek word means at all. It means maturity.
Now, God could never
be thought of as increasing in maturity for if you have a God that is not
already fully mature then he would or could make some awfully wrong decisions
because the word mature means having reached a desired or final condition. And
God alone changes not, so this shows the humanity of the child Jesus who could
grow in wisdom and level of maturity.
And No. 3) Favor with
God shows he was not God, or the sentence would be totally written in an other way altogether. But to grow in
Favor with God means he grew in approval with God, and the divine
influence of God upon His heart is what Grew in him until he entered into such
a state that all his thoughts were of God and he could do nothing, say nothing,
except it be to please his Father.
John 14:31 But that the world may know that I love the
Father; and as the Father gave me
commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.
John 8:29
And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone;
for I do always those things that please
him.
Easter
seal 65-0410 P:75 Watch the action of those disciples:
a-scared? They knew Jesus was the truth; but you see, it was against the
popular idea, the popular religion of the hour. The most strictest
religion--Pharisees, Sadducees, and so forth (their cults, clans and
denominations) they were against that heresy; but Jesus was the identified Word, and Jesus is the Holy Ghost in Spirit.
"A little while and the world seeth Me no more, you shall see
Me,” not the body, the
Life that was in Him: God is upon the church to call sons like He did then,
obedient; "I
always do that which is pleasing to My Father. Which one of you can accuse Me
of sin.” In other words, sin is unbelief. "What
has the Word said about Me that I haven't done? (There it is.) Show
Me what the Word said that I'd do that I didn't do? Which one can accuse Me?
Which one can lay your fingers on Me and say that I haven't fulfilled My
Father's Word?” Oh, when the Pentecostal church gets to
that spot, "Who can accuse Me of unbelief?"
And we know that the father was well pleased with Jesus because he said
so.
Luke 3:22
And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him,
and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am
well pleased.
Mark 1:11
And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son,
in whom I am well pleased.
Matthew
17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them:
and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in
whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
Matthew
12:18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my
soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment
to the Gentiles.
Matthew 3:17
And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom
I am well pleased.
Colossians
1:19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness
dwell;
2 Peter 1:17
For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there
came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in
whom I am well pleased.
Law or
grace 54-1006 P:44 When God looked down, He said, "This
is My beloved Son, in Whom I'm well pleased." Said, "Your sacrifices
become stink under My nose, but This is Who I'm well pleased." Now, He was
well pleased. And to make us well pleased to God, He had to become crushed on
Jehovah
Jireh 61-0226 P:37 Don't look at yourself.
Look at your Lamb. God don't accept you;
He accepted the Lamb. And the Lamb
took your place. O God, can't you see it? Not you, you're not worthy. I'm not worthy. There's none of us worthy.
But, see, is He worthy? God said so.
He accepted Him. He said, "This is My beloved Son in Whom I am well
pleased. This is My Son. Hear ye Him,” on the day of the adoption, "This is Him.”
Our hope
is in God 51-0929 P:12 We think how He was born in this world, the
Son of God. But at the age of thirty,
God placed Him. Upon the banks of Jordan that day, when He was standing in
the water, dripping from His locks, God vindicated that as His Son and said,
"This is My Beloved Son; in Whom I am well pleased.” Adoption, placing, placing into His Kingdom
for the work that He was to finish. Let’s bow our heads in
prayer.
