The Doctrine of Christ no 2
“Jesus has a God”
Brian Kocourek, Pastor
July 26th, 2011
This
evening I would like to speak again on the Doctrine of Christ which is One God
who is Father and He has a son, and the Father is the God of the Son.
The
thought tonight is this: Jesus has a God.
Now
we know that God
is sovereign, and He doesn’t answer to anyone. He has no one above Him that is God. Therefore, if Jesus (the Son of
God) is God, then why does He speak of another who He calls “My
God”?
And if Jesus has a God, then
who is this God if you believe that Jesus Himself is God?
Therefore, Jesus, was not “God
the Son”, He was the “Son of God”. That means He had a God
and that God was His Father and that Father indwelt Him.
John 20: 17 17 Jesus
saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to
my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and
to my God, and your God.
Questions and answers COD 59-0628E P:11 May
His grace be with you. May He heal you of your sickness. May He give to you the
baptism of the Holy Ghost. And I say this now without any slightness,
without... If I brought any offense by anything that I said about the seed of
the serpent, the baptism in Jesus' Name, which those things...Now, somebody
Brother Branham is a "oneness." No, sir, I am not a oneness. I do not
believe that Jesus could be His own father. I believe that Jesus had a Father, and that was God. But God dwelled and
tabernacled in this body called Jesus, and He was Emmanuel: God with us. And
there's no other God besides this God. He is Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. And
the Name of the Father, Son, Holy Ghost... Father: the Lord, Son: Jesus, Holy
Ghost: Logos, Spirit of God. Father, Son, Holy Ghost, Lord Jesus Christ; that's
Him. And in Him dwelled the Fullness of the Godhead bodily.
Revelations 3:1 And
unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath
the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast
a name that thou livest, and art dead.2 Be watchful,
and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not
found thy works perfect before God.3 Remember
therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If
therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt
not know what hour I will come upon thee.4 Thou hast
a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they
shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.5 He
that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not
blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before
my Father, and before his angels.6 He that hath an
ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.7 And
to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is
holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no
man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;8 I
know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can
shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not
denied my name.9 Behold, I will make them of the
synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I
will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have
loved thee.10 Because thou hast kept the word of my
patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come
upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.11 Behold,
I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. 12 Him
that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the
name of my God, and the name of the
city of my God, which is new
Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
Psalms 22:1 My God, my God, why hast thou
forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my
roaring? These are the Words of the
Son of God as prophesied by David of what the Son of God would say as He hung
upon the cross, and as we see come to pass in…
Trial the 64-0419 P:38 And Jehovah Himself called
him the son of man. Jehovah called him a man, the son of man, the same as Jesus
revealed Himself as Son of man. What was it? The promised Word of that hour
being made manifest: same God, God of Ezekiel's time, God of Jesus' time, Son of man.
Mark 15: 34 And
at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama
sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou
forsaken me?
Matthew 27:46 And
about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama
sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Now, notice that Jesus cried out to God and asked God
why he had forsaken Him? This word Forsaken means “totally abandon”. Can God abandon Himself?
Uncertain sound 62-0714 P:88 And Jesus said, "These
things that I do shall you do also, and even greater than this shall you do
(more), because I go to My Father." Amen. Where is the God of Jesus Christ? Where is the God that made this
promise in the Bible? We need more Elishas. Right. We need more believers on
it. We need more believers in truth, because there's been so many twisting
creeds and things, it--it's an uncertain sound to the people. I'm trying to
tell you, get back to the Bible.

Corinthians 11:31 The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
which is blessed for evermore, knoweth that I lie not.
Palmerworm locust caterpillar 59-0823 P:113 "And
if the Oneness, you disagree with the Oneness because of their one standing
like that." Yes, sir. Jesus had a
Father; He was God. They baptize in the Name of Jesus. I baptize in the
Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. There's many Jesuses, but there's only one Lord
Jesus Christ. See? Not in "Jesus name"; but in the Name of "The
Lord Jesus Christ"; that's Father, Son, Holy Ghost. Lord, "Lord said
unto My Lord, Set on the right hand"; Son, Jesus; Christ, Logos that went
out of God in the beginning. Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. There you are.
Questions and answers COD 64-0830M P:62 Now
remember, we are not the Word, but we are the Word. Uh-huh. Now, you got it? Jesus was not God, but He was God. He was a Man, yet He was God. He could
cry, and yet He could raise the dead. He could cry for a man being dead and
raise him back up again. He was Jehovah-jireh, Jehovah-rapha, Jehovah Manasses;
He was Jehovah, all completely. He was Jehovah, and yet He was a
True Easter seal 61-0402 P:121 You just see if He's still
the High Priest that can be touched by the feeling of your infirmity. I never
seen you in my life. You're a stranger to me. I know nothing about you. God
does know you. And if He can reveal to me by His Holy Spirit, the resurrected
Christ Who come here, and give me a temporarily resurrection by my spirit, that
my spirit goes away now and His Spirit comes in, then to let you know whether
He's alive or not. Now, I don't know you. That's me, me and my spirit; we don't
know you. But He knows you. But He wants to borrow my body to prove that
He's the resurrected Christ. I'm so
happy to loan it to Him, give it to Him, anything He can get out of it.
So God is still in the business of borrowing a body
in this age. Will you loan him yours?
Show us the father 62-0722 P:56 Said, "Search the
Scriptures, for in Them you think you have Eternal Life. They are They which
testify of Me. If I do not the works of My Father then believe Me not."
How many times this week we've went through that, back and forth, to show that
He was the Word. So you see nature, Word, Son. It's all coming to the same God,
actually the same God working in a different channels. Jesus was God manifested in the flesh. He was God the Word. Every one
of us believe that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself. Jesus is
the Son of God, that is the body, and God was the Spirit that dwelt in that
Tabernacle that He created for Himself, a virgin body. God...That's the
reason He said here, "I've been so long with you and you don't know Me? He
that's seen Me hath seen the Father." In other words, "You see the
Father working through
And so we see the Apostle Paul call
him not only the God of Jesus but the father of Jesus as well in Ephesians
1:3 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the
saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus: 2 Grace
be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Blessed be the God and
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual
blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
And just don’t think because you can mentally deduce
that Jesus is the Son of God that makes you anything. There has to be a reality
in this word, and this word must be alive to you and you to it.
Spiritual inspiration 56-0128 P:49 Both boys went up to God and
built an altar and worshipped God, both of them, one a believer and the other
one an unbeliever. And if God only requires you to have faith in Him, to
believe in Him, to join church, to make a sacrifice, God would be cruel and
unjust to condemn Cain, for he done the same thing Abel did. See how the
devil's got people today? They think, "Well, I go to church. Sure I
believe in God. I believe Jesus is the
Son of God." Every devil in hell believes the same thing. They
publicly confessed it. That's right. The devil said, "We know who you are,
the holy One of God," publicly, before thousands, confessing Him to be the Son of God. They wasn't saved. Conversion is an experience, born again.
Notice how glorious, what a wonderful thing.
Hidden life with Christ 56-0213 P:72 You
know the reason I ask? You know why you raised your hand? Anybody else wants to
raise their hand? I want to tell you something. If God's speaking to you, raise
your hand. I'll tell you why He's talking to you. It's a point that I want to
make. Another sinner raise your hand, say, "Brother Branham, I would sure
like to be there. I'd like to eat that manna, just see what the goodness of the
Lord is. Oh, I know I belong to church. I've went there a long time. But as far
as being saved, I never have. I'll just... I'm not fooling myself; I got to
live with myself. I have a little confession: Oh, I said I believe Jesus is the Son of God, but I know devils say the
same thing." Devils beg for mercy, beg for peace, beg not to be
punished, and recognize Him, and confess
before the crowd that He was the Son of the living God. That's right. That don't save you, no sir. The
application of the Blood of Jesus to you heart is what saves you. Truly it
is.
Presuming 62-0408 P:79 Do you believe Jesus is the
Son of God, Jehovah's Son? Do you believe He's alive, and is He now seated on the throne of God,
ever living to make intercessions upon our profession? And if He's a living
High Priest, how did He do...When He was a High Priest here on earth, a woman
one day touched His garment, and He turned around and told her that her blood
issue had stopped. Was that the action of the High Priest? Then He's an eternal
High Priest. Then He's the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Workings of the Holy Spirit 56-0816 P:32 Now,
look, these two pieces had to be exactly the same. If it isn't, it's a
different piece. They had to be exactly the same. So the Church will have to
have exactly the same Spirit that was in Christ Jesus or It won't fit in the
Body? You get it? Now, that's for Methodist, Baptist, Anglican, Catholic,
whatever you might be. It has to fit just exactly with the Spirit that was in
Christ Jesus, 'cause that's what God tore off and give to you for the part of
the covenant while He raised His Son
from the dead and set Him at His right hand on high. And tonight Christ is not setting on His own
throne; He's sitting on Who's throne? His Father's Throne. "He
that overcometh shall set with Me on My throne, as I have overcome, and setting
on My Father's throne." Isn't that marvelous? And we have
that great and grand privilege of knowing someday we'll be able to set with Him
on His throne, and He takes the throne of David, which He's heir to. And we'll
reign with Him a thousand years on earth, and then through eternity, forever.
Arrow of God's deliverance 56-0801 P:52 How many in here is sick and afflicted?
Let's see your hands go up, if you can. Put your hands up, that wants God to
heal you. Wonderful. All right. Now, if this good old fashion salvation of God
is brought to us by the baptism of the Holy Ghost... In that baptism of the
Holy Ghost, the Holy Ghost is none other but the Spirit of the Lord Jesus
Christ, Who came down on the day of Pentecost to dwell with us, and in us, till
the end of the world. And if He's still the same Holy Ghost that fell on
Pentecost, and He's got the same power tonight that He did on Pentecost... We
wouldn't think our God got weak in two thousand years when He's going to live
with us through Eternity.[Blank spot on tape--Ed.]... when Messiah cometh, He
will tell us all things like this. See? That'll be the sign of the Messiah.
"But Who are You?" He said, "I'm He." Now, if He was Jesus
that way yesterday, He's got to be Jesus that way today if He is the same. Now,
the only thing is different then, He hasn't got a corporal body. His body is setting on the throne of God.
That's not Jesus' throne He's setting on tonight. The Bible said, "He's
setting on His Father's throne." Is that right? "He
that overcomes shall set with Me on My throne as I've overcome and set on My
Father's throne." Now, His throne is on the earth. He's to be here with people.
So
God’s throne is in Heaven and His throne is on earth with his people. That
sounds like two of them to me.
Mighty conqueror 58-0329 P:27
And as they hollered back to them, "Who is this King of
glory?"...And the Old Testament saints screamed, "The Lord of hosts,
mighty in battle." You know the Scriptures. The great Angel, Gabriel, must
have pressed the button. Those great big doors folded back. Right under the
arch of the old rugged cross went Jesus and the soldiers of the Old Testament.
Right down through the streets of
God keeps His Word 57-0120E P:31 "I believe that Jesus is
the Son of God. I believe that in His body He was a man. He was born of a woman
just like I was. But His Blood was not of a woman; It was of God. And Jehovah God, the Logos, Who brood over the
earth (in my message this morning), and brood the first man out of the dust
of the earth, overshadowed Mary, and brood over her to fulfill His Word, and
created the Blood cell that brought forth the
Son of the living God. I believe in
a body He was man. I believe in His
soul He was God. He was God's
manifestation here on earth. God was
in Christ, reconciling Him, the world to Himself. I believe that He was not
just a mere man, neither was He a prophet; He
was God Emmanuel. I believe with all my heart, that being truth. I can't
prove that truth, because the... If I could then it wouldn't be of faith. But I
know the trees come and go, I know the flowers come and go. I know all nature
revolves, the world sets in its orbit by some great supreme power."
Door in a door 63-0223 P:71 If you'd open that door and
let the Word of God come in to be your Lord... "I don't care what the
creed says. If the Bible says so, You're my Lord." You must be borned
again, and when you're borned again, then you must be filled with the Holy
Ghost. No matter what creed, what is--nothing about it. You say, "Well, I believe that Jesus is the Son of God."
The devil believes the same thing. You've
got to be born again. Everybody's afraid of that new birth. Oh, I know you
call yourself that you've got new birth. But I think our lives sometimes speak
so loud that our testimony can't be heard. See?
Law or grace 54-1006 P:26 Now, if you're believing
right... If you just confess it with your lips, it don't do much good. But from
your heart, if you believe that Jesus is
the Son of God, you can't live the same life you once lived. You can't, if
you ever get a true view of

Hebrews
5:1 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for
men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices
for sins: 2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant,
and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with
infirmity. 3 And
by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for
sins. 4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself,
but he that is called of God, as was Aaron. 5 So
also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said
unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. 6 As
he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. 7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he
had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him
that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; 8 Though he were a Son, yet
learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; 9 And
being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them
that obey him; 10 Called of God an high priest
after the order of Melchisedec.

6:12 And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what
they might do to Jesus. 12 And it came to pass in
those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night
in prayer to God.

11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth,(Now, who can this Lord of Heaven and
earth be but God?) because thou hast hid these things from the
wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
John
17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said,
Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he
should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.3 And
this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished
the work which thou gavest me to do.5 And now, O
Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee
before the world was.6 I have manifested thy name
unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou
gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
Matthew
26:39And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and
prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me:
nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. 40 And
he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter,
What, could ye not watch with me one hour? 41 Watch
and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but
the flesh is weak. 42 He went away again the
second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away
from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
