“He that believeth no 5”
Shall Never Thirst

This morning I would like to continue with out mini
series within the confines of our main series on the Doctrine of Christ. This
is the Doctrine of Christ no 51 and in
our mini series on “He that Believeth” this is not 5.
This morning we will look at several Scriptures that
speak of the believer, “he that believeth on me” and we shall find several
more promises to the believer.
So let up open our Bibles this morning to the Book
of John and we will read from…
John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of
life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and “he that believeth” (ὁ πιστευων) on me shall never
thirst.
Notice or promise is the “He that believe on Me shall never thirst”.
Why never thirst? Because deep within you the Word of God that you have opened
your ears to hear will spring up within you as living water, a fountain of
water that shall never run dry. That is our promise from Jesus Himself.
John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I
shall give him shall never thirst; but the
water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into
everlasting life.
And
notice that this well of living water that shall spring up within us, is a well
of eternal life.
The wisest man that ever lives, Solomon, said in the Proverbs 18: 4 The words of a man's mouth are
as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing
brook.
And again he said in Proverbs
16:22 Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of
fools is folly.
JOHN
4:5 Then cometh he to a city of
Now, notice that this woman represents the church and
she is coming for water which represents the Word. For “We are washed in the washing of water by the
Word”.
Jesus
saith unto her, Give me to drink. 8 For his disciples were gone away unto the
city to buy meat. 9 Then saith the woman of
Now, notice that Jesus is letting her know that he is
not just talking about water to drink but of the Word of God. But she does not
catch what he is telling her yet, for her focus is not on the Word but on the
physical water.

The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is
deep: from whence then hast thou that
living water? 12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the
well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? 13 Jesus
answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst
again: 14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never
thirst; but the water that I shall give
him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
Notice how Jesus is offering this woman, this church
the Word itself which is Life Eternal and all she has to do is open her
spiritual eyes to what he is telling her.
15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst
not, neither come hither to draw.
Notice now that she has caught what He is offering her
and notice her response. She is not leery of what this man is telling her, but
she really wants this that is being offered to her. Now, Jesus has caught her
spirit, and so he begins to discern where her problem lays.

Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither. 17 The woman
answered and said, “I have no husband”. Jesus said unto her, “Thou hast well
said, I have no husband: 18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou
now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly”. 19 The woman saith
unto him, “Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.”
Now,
where does this Living water come from that Jesus said if we drink it we shall
never thirst?
God
is the great fountain of living waters and He is the Word, and this the same
fountain of Life I believe we are now drinking from as we take in the Message
of the hour. Where else on earth could you go to one sermon from an individual
and find 266 plus sermons from that one. But that is what we are able to do
from Brother Branham’s sermons because this is water we are drinking fresh from
the throne of God.
So what we are looking at is this, there is a Great
Fountain of life that is somewhere, and we know this fountain comes forth from
the Presence of God. But what we need to know if we are to receive from this fountain,
is by what means does it come forth. When we think of a fountain we think in
terms of water perpetually coming forth without an ending. Now the water coming
forth is not the source but is coming forth from the Source. And the fountain
itself is not the source but is the means by which we may obtain the Life that
comes forth from the Source.
In the book of Revelation 22:1 we read, And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as
crystal, proceeding out of the throne of
God and of the Lamb. Notice the source of this water of life is
God Himself, the author of Life. And Jesus promises us that if we drink we
shall never thirst again, because within us that same water, that same Life
shall become a well spring flowing up within us, and Word shall be piled upon
Word upon Word, as we drink from that wellspring that is now deep in our own
soul.
And it begins with this fountain coming from the
throne of God, that brings froth from Him the very thing we desire, and that is
Life.
Deuteronomy
30:20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and
that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he
is thy life, and the length of thy days:
In this scripture we see that God is our very Life and
yet it is His Voice that we must heed in order to obtain the Life of Him. So
now we are thinking of this God-Life in terms of fountains and rivers of water,
because the analogy or type that God uses is that of something that is ever moving
and flowing forth from its source. So then there must be a source and a vehicle
to move it from that source.
To
me each time I turn on Brother Branham’s sermons, and listen to them, it still
seems to me after listening almost daily for nearly 39 years that each sermon
preached is as fresh as the first one. Each drink is as cool and refreshing as
the last one.
If
we were to go back and begin re-examining the Spoken Word is the original seed,
it would be to me just a fresh and stimulating as the first time we went
through it , and remember, we began on January 13, 2008 and didn’t finish that
last drop until July 20, 2011. It took us 3-1/2 years and 267 sermons to
examine that one sermon of Br. Branham’s. That’s as long as the ministry of
Jesus lasted at his first coming. And I still felt there was more in that
sermon that could be drawn out. It’s like when you squeeze a nice tasty orange,
and you want to squeeze out that very last drop, it’s so good. That is what the
message is for me.
It
is like the man that is thirsty in the dessert and he holds the empty canteen
over his parched tongue hoping for one more drop to soothe his aching tongue.
Precious is all I can say, each drop of this Word to my soul is precious.
This
Word and all these studies we’ve looked at to me are alive, ever living, and
ever bringing forth new, refreshing, Life regenerating Revelation to our
needful souls and hearts.
In
fact speaking of living water that refreshes our hearts, it reminds me of
"the hart
that panteth after the waterbrooks", that we David said of God.
Psalms 42:1
As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after
thee, O God. We used to sing that
song so often.
Every
time that we come for a drink of that cool refreshing water of the Word, it
feels as though that last drink was the best drink ever. And each time the deer
dips its lips toward that Life giving stream, it drinks in as much as it can
and yet there is still plenty more for others to drink again and again. That is
the beauty of living water. Its source is hidden and seems to be without end.
And Jesus said, when you drink it will now be hidden in you. That is the beauty
of drinking the water He has.
And
that leads us to the next promise concerning the believer that has ears to
hear.
In John 7:38 Jesus
makes us another promise, “He that believeth” (ὁ πιστευων) on me, as the scripture
hath said, out of his belly shall
flow rivers of living water.
Now we this may not at first glance to appear to be
a different promise but it is, and yet in
examining these promises in the order of appearance in Scripture we will
find that they are linked together in a progression.
First John 6:35 Whoever believes in me: Shall never thirst. Now, let’s read the Scripture together in its entirety.
John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
Now, this promise of never thirsting Jesus presents to the believer here, is also given to the believer in John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. Notice in one verse he says, “he” but in the other he says “whosoever” showing that the Word “he” is no more singular than whosoever is singular.
So
we can see that Jesus associates the believer
or believers in Him with drinking of the water that he’s given
to us. And after all the scriptures are replete with illustrations where water represents not only His Word, in which we are washed in the
washing of water by the word. Ephesians 5:26. But it also
represents a living Word, or a Word which is
made alive and full of Life, Eternal Life, because the Spirit of God is alive
within His Living Word.
For Jesus said in John 6:63, “My Words are Spirit and they are Life. And so we see that drinking this living water produces something in us as well. He says, “the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
Therefore we see the promise Jesus gives the believer will actually affect the believer in such a way that within the very believer himself, the same waters he has believed or has drunken from, will, spring up within him because it is living water, as the Scripture says, “that Living waters will spring up within him and with it everlasting life.”
And in fact the very next time Jesus uses this phrase a few verses later in the same chapter, He again gives the same promise of everlasting life to those who believe in Him. Notice in John 6:47 Jesus uses this same phrase again, and that is exactly what he says it will produce in the believer. And that is why Jesus tells us that “believing in Him is to receive waters of life” within us. That is why Jesus further stated that those “waters will spring up into everlasting Life,” because they are “living waters,” and not stagnant water.
The next time Jesus uses this same phrase he promises us in John 7:38 “Who believes in me: Out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”
Notice I hope you have already seen the progression
here. Notice the three stages of Life. First we see the promise of Living
waters entering us, (that’s the conception part when we are quickened to Life) then
that water begins building up within us, (that’s the transformation part, when
Word cell is added to Word cell) and finally that Life builds up so much that
it just has to come froth out of us, overflowing from us. That’s the
identification phase of Life, where when the child comes forth and looks into
his Parents face, he is seeing face to face, and knowing as He is known.
The same promise in three phases in three different
verses, but the meaning of each verse is like a building block on which the
next verse is placed to build the house or body of Christ. Each time Jesus
speaks of this Living water He says basically the same thing but adds a little
time He says it to bring the full promise into view.
In John 7:38 we hear Jesus speak again on this idea of the Living waters. This time he says, “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. Notice the full circle, the Word is heard, and comes into us like a living water, and then it begins to add Word to Word to Word until it begins springing up within us as a living fountain. And since that revelation is increasing within us, we become like a cup, that David cried out, “My cup over-floweth” and that is because as a vessel of honor unto God, we have only so much capacity to hold, and then when that living water keeps coming, that revelation keeps increasing, it begins to overflow, it has to go somewhere and so out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh, and as we speak we are overflowing.
Therefore if those rivers of living waters which He gave you to drink are received into you through the act of your “believing in Him,” then those rivers of Living waters will not only spring up into everlasting life within you, but in the process of springing up into life everlasting the promise also tells us that the “water of life shall also flow forth from your belly,” which is your heart. This literally means that your own vessel can not contain what is growing within you and you must share it with others.
Now, this promise is from Jesus to the believer who ever that believer may be. God is no respecter of persons.
What we have seen so far is the same promise made over and over again and each time it is given, Jesus adds a little more light on that promise, showing that the promise itself is alive and will grow within us. Each time Jesus speaks that promise, the promise is added to, and grows bigger and better, from Life, to Life springing up, to Life overflowing to Life flowing forth from your heart.
So that should lead us to ask the question: Where
does or to who does this Life that has come into us, and has sprung within us,
and is now overflowing from us, where is it going? Where does it flow forth
too?
Our answer is also found in the book of Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, come… (Notice The Spirit and The bride are saying the same thing. He says it and she says it. She says what he says, because she is echoing what he said. And why does she say the same thing that he says? Because she is echoing the promise he gave to her. And therefore as He said to her “come” she says to whoever thirsts the same thing, she says “Come”). And let him that heareth say, “Come”. And so the hearer is asked to come, and then they hear it, they recognize it and when they act upon it, they come. And then when they hear it, recognize it, and act upon and come, then they in turn say come, and the whole process repeats itself. And the Life increases from glory to glory and from image to image.
I hope you are catching what is happening here. The person or persons who hear the Bride will also in turn echo what they have heard, and say the same thing she said, and not only will they say the same thing, but they will do what they are saying as well.) And let him that is a-thirst come. (You see, they not only say it, but they live what they say. They say “come”, and then they come.) And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
If
you believe that the Fountain of Grace and Mercy has come down, then live like
it. If you have the living waters of life flowing forth in your own life then
let it bubble up and flow out to others. In Revelations we hear “The Spirit and the
Bride say come and drink of this water of life”. They don’t hide
what they got under a bushel basket. They don’t shut out all others. They don’t
act like they are the only ones who are supposed to know and understand, they
want everyone to have this tremendous Revelation of Christ. They know the
Doctrine of Christ is for all sons, and they are willing to reach out and help
out every son that cometh to God, because they know they are brothers in a very
large family of brethren. And they will reflect
what they have in their life and in their speech. The Spirit and
the Bride say the same thing, do the same thing, for it’s the same spirit. For by One spirit we are baptized, born into one body,
one family. We
know our Father has no hands but our hands, and no lips but our lips, and no
feet but our feet that have been shod with the preparation of his Gospel.
And knowing this, we go where He tells us to go, and do what he wants for us to
do, and say only what he wants for us to say, because we have surrendered our
own will over to His will. Then we have the mind of Christ.
Then
when they see that Token on display living itself out in our lives, then they
will come if there is any coming to be done. Brothers from every continent and
some even who have opposed us, have told me that what we are doing is a real
testimony to what we believe. They have said, what we have shown the world brings
a reality to what we believe, and until we began doing, they didn’t even think
we believed what we were proclaiming, that Christ is here, because they didn’t
see it in the lives of those claiming it.
O, how I love it. It is not a promise to just one person. It is a promise to whosoever will.
So we see that the rivers of living water which
came forth from Jesus (the first vessel) and then cascade down to the Little
bride, and enter into the bride (another vessel) and then cascade like a water
fall down from her into whosoever is willing (other vessels) to listen
and believe what she tells them, because she is echoing the same promise that
Jesus spoke to begin with.
If you can picture in your mind a beautiful
cascading water fall coming forth from God, who is the Author of all Life. Then
it flows down to His Son, and pools up there like a vessel with no limits, and then
from His son it cascades down the
That is when Son of God (seed Life) from that Original Seed comes down into seeds that come forth from the Original Seed, for every seed shall bring forth after its kind. And brother Branham said, “Son of God seed will produce son of God every time”.
