Compulsion
leads to Obsession - Devil Possession

Now the 3rd attribute of the end time insanity (neurosis)
is Obsession which Webster defines as “the act of an evil spirit in possessing or
ruling a person. Having such a persistent idea, desire or emotion that one
cannot get rid of it. Oppression
is the state of being oppressed.
The feeling of being heavily burdened, mentally or physically, by troubles,
adverse conditions, a result of anxiety, etc.
Brother Branham said, "you
can feed a habit or keep nurturing a habit and after a while it will take on a
life of its own becoming a spirit possession."
Remember how we saw that the beginning of
this end time insanity begins with anxiety, worrying about what might happen.
Then if you are not careful your anxiety will lead to compulsive behavior, and
that always leads to oppression which is becoming possessed by your anxiety.
Now, Webster told us that this obsession
which comes as a result of your compulsive dealing with your anxiety is
actually by this stage a demon possession. “the act of an evil spirit in possessing or
ruling a person. Having such a persistent idea, desire or emotion that one
cannot get rid of it.
When a person enters into compulsion and then becomes obsessed by it,
they become what is known as an Obsessive-Compulsive which is a Disorder (OCD)
and is a common, chronic, and long-lasting disorder in which a person
has uncontrollable, reoccurring thoughts (anxieties leading to compulsive
actions and obsessive thoughts) and/or behaviors (compulsions)
that he or she feels the urge to repeat over and over.
Now, remember, I’ve always told you that when you pass
the test God says, Come up higher, but when you fail the test you are going to
get it over and over again until you do pass it. And the way to pass the test
in this obsessive compulsive is to just your anxiety over to God. Just let go
and let God.
Now, this morning I want to show you how that this
oppression ie: possession is a spirit that leads to fear and is not from God
but is from the devil.
Obsession is the act of an evil spirit
possessing or ruling a person, Obsession is demon possession. And it matters not what the anxiety is, if
not turned over to God it leads to compulsion, and then obsession. And a demon
is a demon, and his business is to rob you of your joy in the Lord and your
peace with God in all things.
So we are told in 1Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times
some shall depart from the faith,
giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
So we see that the evil
spirit possessing or ruling a person is ordained to come at the
end time. Obsession is seductive spirit because after all it feeds your
anxiety.
And in not turning over your anxiety to God, you begin
to try on your own to conquer it by compulsively doing, doing, and doing things
in order to overcome the things you worry about that may happen. But in doing,
doing, doing, you are actually feeding that spirit and that compulsive behavior
actually brings on a spirit of doubt, and oppression which takes a hold of you
and possesses you in your anxiety.
In his
sermon Expectation 55-1001 P:102 brother
Branham is ministering to a sister who has this oppression, and he says to her,
…”And sister,
God would cure you of that diabetes and make you well if you'd believe it. Do
you believe His...? Do you believe it? Then in the Name of the Lord Jesus
Christ may it be so. Amen. Have faith in God, now. Come, sister. Look this a
way now, to live. Look and believe on the Lord Jesus with all your heart. Now, you're
suffering from a mental oppression which is nervousness. You keep having
strange and crazy thoughts running through your mind, especially right late of
a evening. You get real weak. Many times you have to set down. And when the
sun's a setting, you get a gloomy spell comes on you. And the devil's trying to
tell you you're going to lose your mind. Those things are true, lady. You were
praying before you come. You prayed and said, "If--God, if you'll give me
a prayer card and put me before the platform, I will believe You'll be--You'll
heal me." That is right. That... If that's right, raise your hand? That's
right. I see you where you were kneeling there. Now, God has rewarded you and
your faith has healed you. It's gone from you. It was caused from menopause,
but you're going to be well. So go on your road rejoicing. And I bless you, my
sister, in Jesus Christ' Name. Amen. Let's say, "Thanks be to God, who
gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
It is ordained to come at the end-time to lead people
away from The Faith by selling you a bill of goods which is nothing but a
seductive trap to entice you into following its false doctrine of works. “If I
can just do this and that then this will not happen. And instead of just turning your cares over
to Him, you try to outdo your anxiety by doing.
1Timothy 4:1 The
Voice translation says, “But even so, the Spirit
very clearly tells us that in the last times some will abandon the true faith because of their devotion to spirits sent to deceive and sabotage, and mistakenly
they will end up following the
doctrine of demons.
So we see that this trap is set before
you, a problem comes up, and causes you anxiety, and by worrying about it
instead of turning that thing over to God, Your Father, you build up an anxiety
which you try to conquer by doing things to prevent that thing from happening.
So the whole entire scheme of compulsive behavior is actually a seductive
spirit that has enticed you to do instead of rest.
The Apostle
Peter taught us in 1 Peter 5:7 that we
should just cast all our cares on our Father God for he cares for us. “Casting all your care
upon him; for he careth for you.”
So this compulsiveness as a result of
anxiety is actually a Seducing Spirit's and
Doctrines of Devil's. The
People being seduced into believing The Lie and then they are damned by it. And what was the Lie that Satan told Eve? If you do this you
will be this.
So Why believing the Lie they will be damned by it? Because once you turn away from your
rest in God, and your peace and joy coming from God and His Presence, you begin
to try and do for yourself which is a seducing spirit. They love the lie and will be damned by the
thing they love.
The Apostle
Paul warned us in 2 Thessalonians 2:10
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they
received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they
should believe the lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had
pleasure in unrighteousness.
Now the Wuest Translation tells us that God will send this string
delusion that is geared to the gullibility of those who are perishing.
So you see the deception is geared to the deceived. In other words, if a person
has a propensity to look past the Word for sensations, then God will direct
them to those preaching sensations.
If their weakness is a lack
of faith, (a lack of revelation) then God will direct them to someone who
teaches from an intellectual way of preaching, where you don’t need revelation
to understand what they say.
If they lack Faith in God, then
the devil will direct them to faith in oneself. And when you go down that
route, you enter into compulsive behavior, and you then end up making the thing
you were anxious about, a priority in your life, and it ends up taking over
your life.
Paul says here, “No matter
what your weakness is, if you are one who is in the act of perishing, because you
were not ordained to receive this Message, God will make sure you find someone
to hear that will lead you away from “The Faith”, because “The Faith” was not for you.
“Obsessions
are recurrent and persistent thoughts, impulses, or images that cause
distressing emotions such as anxiety or disgust. Many people with OCD recognize
that the thoughts, impulses, or images are a product of their mind and are
excessive or unreasonable. Yet these intrusive thoughts cannot be settled by
logic or reasoning. Most people with OCD try to ignore or suppress such
obsessions or offset them with some other thought or action. Typical obsessions
include excessive concerns about contamination or harm, the need for symmetry
or exactness, or forbidden sexual or religious thoughts.”
“Compulsions are repetitive behaviors or mental
acts that a person feels driven to perform in response to an obsession. The
behaviors are aimed at preventing or reducing distress or a feared situation.
In the most severe cases, a constant repetition of rituals may fill the day,
making a normal routine impossible. Compounding the anguish these rituals cause
is the knowledge that the compulsions are irrational. Although the compulsion
may bring some relief to the worry, the obsession returns and the cycle repeats
over and over.
Some examples of compulsions:
Cleaning to reduce the fear that germs, dirt, or
chemicals will "contaminate" them some spend many hours washing
themselves or cleaning their surroundings. Some people spend many hours washing
themselves or cleaning their surroundings.
Repeating to dispel anxiety. Some people utter a name or
phrase or repeat a behavior several times. They know these repetitions won’t
actually guard against injury but fear harm will occur if the repetitions
aren’t done.
Checking to reduce the fear of harming oneself or others
by, for example, forgetting to lock the door or turn off the gas stove, some
people develop checking rituals. Some people repeatedly retrace driving routes
to be sure they haven’t hit anyone.
Ordering and arranging to
reduce discomfort. Some people like to put objects, such as books in a certain
order, or arrange household items “just so,” or in a symmetric fashion.
Mental compulsions are responses to intrusive
obsessive thoughts, some people silently pray or say phrases to reduce anxiety
or prevent a dreaded future event.
There is only one treatment that is 100% effective and
that is what Peter taught us in 1 Peter 5:7 “casting all your cares on Him for He careth for you.”
We all know the parable of the Son of Man who
went forth sowing seed, and we know the seed was the word of God,
and we know there were different examples of how that seed was sown and where
it was sown.
And we also find there are
those to whom the Word of God was sown to, but they let other things get in the
way of the Word and therefore the Word ended up bearing no fruit in them. I am
afraid that is the case of many people who claim to believe the Ministry of the
Son of Man in this hour.
Now, brother Branham said we
should find ourselves in the scripture. That is how the Word of God becomes
alive to us. So as we read the parable of “the Sower”, I want you to examine
yourself to see which one of these examples represent your own situation.
Matthew
13:10 And
the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11 He answered and said unto
them, Because it is
given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 12 For whosoever hath, (whosoever
echoes) to him shall be given, and he
shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath (echoes) not, from him shall be taken
away even that hethinks he (echoes). 13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. (they see and don’t see and hear but
don’t hear because they don’t understand what they are seeing and hearing)14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith,
By hearing ye shall hear, and shall
not understand; and seeing ye
shall see, and shall not perceive: 15 For this people's heart
is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they
have closed; lest at any time they should see with their
eyes, and hear with their ears, and should
understand with their heart, and should be
converted, (filled with the Holy Ghost) and I should heal them. 16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for
they hear. 17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men
have desired to see those
things which ye see, and have not
seen them; and to hear those
things which ye hear, and have not
heard them. 18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. 19 When any one heareth
the word of the kingdom, and
understandeth it not, then cometh the
wicked one, (that’s satan) and catcheth away that which was sown in his
heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. 20 But he that received the seed into
stony places, the same is he
that heareth the word, and anon with
joy receiveth it; 21 Yet hath he not root
in himself, but endureth for a while:
for when tribulation or persecution
ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
Notice Jesus tells us this one endures the Word for a while. Endures
the Word? Yes, they endure but for a while because it’s really a chore to
them because the Word says, forsake not the
gathering of the saints, and a vindicated prophet told us that “if God is in your heart, you can’t wait until those
church doors open to come in and set before God”.
But just think of what he said, he said “these endure the Word,” Why? Because the Word
interferes with their other plans, so sometimes they have to cancel their other
plans and they don’t like that.
But that attitude shows they’ve never received the
Word into their soul. They’ve never been born again. They just heard the Word
and they intellectually knew that it was right.
But because they had no love
for the Truth, they just endured
it as though going to church to hear the Word is such a trial.
Don’t worry, if this is your attitude you won’t have
to come too much longer, God will make sure of that. He will
send you a deluding influence and you will leave the Faith thinking you’ve found a better way,
a different church that will be flexible with your worldly plans. That way you
can have your cake and eat it too.
Jesus continues, 22 “He also that received seed among the thorns is he that
heareth the word; and the care of
this world, and the
deceitfulness of riches, choke the word,
and he becometh unfruitful.”
What’s that? You let other things get in the way, and God says,
Ok, because you loved not my Word and you loved other things more than my word,
I won’t let my Word produce any fruit in you. You’re on your own buddy!
23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he
that heareth the word, and understandeth
it;
which also beareth fruit, and
bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
So I do not care who you
are. If you think all you need is passive Faith, and not active Faith,
then you are them that bear no fruit. And you bear no fruit because
the Word has not activated your soul.
That’s why John says in John 3:19-20 “And
this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather (or in a greater measure) than light, (and that shows) their deeds were
evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither
cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.”
They can't come to the understanding of the Truth because they will not give up their own
thinking.
They are according to 2 Timothy 3:7 Ever
learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of
the truth.
They will not Receive John 14:12 because Proverbs 14:12 says, "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof
are the ways of death."
They will not let their own thinking go.
They are possessed by what their own
mind wants to believe and they
are not willing to let go of their own thinking and receive a correct thinking
based upon vindication.
And so they are just fakers, faking they
believe this message. And that is no different than Hillary Clinton who
said " fake it til you make it".
And so they think they can fake it hoping they will make it. But
they won’t. God will see to that. He is the one who sends a deluding influence.
The Bible, God’s Word said He is the one who will send it. And they will be
damned by it.
From
his sermon E-18 Go Wake Jesus 63-1103 brother
Branham said, “Because he
is so fully surrendered to
the evil one, it took possession of
him, and he had not his own understanding. He only did
what the evil spirit put in him to do.
So
these people that can be lead away from The Truth by a seductive spirit into a
delusion wanted to leave the Truth to begin with.
And
from his sermon 126 Lean not to Thy Own Understanding
65-0120 he said, “Now, in Luke 17:30, He said, "And as it was in the days of Lot, when the Angel of the Lord..." In
the days of Lot just before the fire burned the Gentile world, the Sodomites, there were homosexuals,
perversions, everything in the world. It was a modern Los Angeles; not a modern
only Los Angeles, but a United States; not only in United States, but a world.
It sure was perversion. Men lost their natural source of life and their
natural understandings of common sense, become perverted by an evil
spirit that changed the whole course of their natural life, and they
were possessed with demon spirits. If that ain't the picture of the days of
Noah, I don't know it, and in the days of Lot, I mean. In days of Noah also, eating, drinking, marrying, given in marriage, divorce courts filling, and everything,
just like it was.
You
see they were so involved in daily living they had no time for the Angel of the
Lord, and they were so caught up into that which was coming that they could not
relax as they walked away from Sodom, and like Lot’s wife she was so compelled
to look back that she became crystallized in her thinking first and then her
body manifested that crystalline state, and she became a pillar of salt.
Again
from 118 Lean not to Thy Own Understanding
65-0120 he said, “You know, the
Bible said you can believe a lie and be damned by it. See? That's exactly the truth.
They form, no matter what the Word of God says, they lean to their
own understanding. They lean on it; they believe it; they think it's the Truth. You can keep
believing a lie over and over and over till it's the truth to you.
That's right. But how do we know whether it's Truth or not? God proved it's Truth, 'cause it's in His
Word and He a-vindicates It. He does His own interpretation of It. How do they
do, get to this? They do it by their culture, their education, of their
understandings of their--the degree of doctor's degree, and so forth, that they
have come from some certain seminary and learned these things.
Notice he said, “no matter what the Word of God says, they
lean to their own understanding”.
You can’t believe your Bible and teach 2 Lords. You just can’t do it. Moses taught
One Lord, didn’t he? And He taught vindicated Truth didn’t he? Jesus taught One
Lord and He was Vindicated Truth. And Paul taught One Lord and The Same Pillar
of Fire that Vindicated Moses and Jesus vindicated Him, right? And what about
William Branham?
He taught one Lord,
and He was vindicated. And he even said you can’t have One Faith
and believe in more than One Lord.
God's only provided
place of worship 65-1128M P:114 Where did God put His Name?
In Jesus. How do you get in His Name? How do you get in there? By being
baptized in there. How by? Water? By Spirit: one Lord, one faith, one
baptism, that's Holy Ghost baptism.
The water baptism just put you in fellowship with the people, that you
recognized that you have accepted Christ. That's the True. But it's Spirit
baptism. I can call the Name of Jesus over you and baptize you; that doesn't
make it so. But when once that Holy Spirit really genuine Word comes into you
(the Word, Jesus), then, brother, the message is no secret to you then; you
know It, brother; It's all lit up before you.,
Jesus Christ the same
55-0806 P:15 Now, sometimes today it's
been said amongst many believers, they say about certain things, "Oh,
that's against my faith. Our faith don't teach that." There's only really one
faith; the Bible said so. One Lord, one faith, one
baptism, one God, and there's one faith and that is the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ. See?
Anointed ones at end
time 65-0725M P:186 “Reprobate mind concerning the
faith, not a faith, the Faith. One faith, one Lord, one...?... You can't have one faith without believing in one Lord.
You can't have two baptisms, not one for the Father, and Son, and Holy Ghost.
There's one baptism, Jesus Christ. That's right. See?
And Brother Vayle taught that “Two Lords is a fallacy” which means it is
false. So of course if you have more than one Lord you have more than
the One Faith, and that just proves right there you’ve left The One True Faith. You’ve departed from The Faith. Because you’ve left The Faith of the One Lord.
Just read your Bible, Paul taught “One Lord and therefore One Faith.” And if you depart from One Lord you depart from The Faith.” It’s happening right before you and you
don’t even see it. And Paul said to teach other than what he taught you are
under a curse.
From his
sermon Man running from presence 65-0217 P:63 brother
Branham said, “There's two spirits; and One of them is the Holy Spirit; the
other one's a unholy spirit, and one's governed by that. And both of
them religious, now, that's the strange part; they're both religious.
And just like Esau and Jacob was, both religious; like Cain and Abel was, both
religious; like Judas and Jesus was, both religious... And we see it
today, both sides religious. See, it's the same spirit. The people die,
but the spirit doesn't die; it goes right on. Both religious, one of them is
possessed
with the Holy Spirit that lives the kind of life that they should live and walk
godly and honest. They wouldn't beat you out of a penny, and they'd do
everything honest that they could to help you, and just as nice as they can be.
And the others we find out it's just visa versa, and yet both of them are
religious spirits. Two of them, one Holy Spirit and the other a unholy spirit.
And if you notice it'll... Even though claiming religion, they'll make fun of
you and call you a holy-roller; they do anything they can.
Notice,
both are possessed by a Spirit. One is possessed by
the Holy Spirit and the other is
possessed by an oppressive unholy Spirit.
But if
you will recall, the Apostle Paul told us in Romans
8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the
Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Notice
you have not received the Spirit of bondage which is oppression, but you have
received The Holy Spirit with power, love and a sound mind which is exactly
what he said in 2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us
the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Now, we
see instances of this obsessive behavior in the Bible by the man that was
possessed by many demons.
Brother
Branham in his sermon Unbelief does not hinder God
62-0128M P:47 tells us how that oppression which is obsession and devil
possession, how it come about. He says, “You're controlled
by two elements: either you believe, or you do not believe. Now, let's take
unbelief and see what it does. It creates a worry, (now, remember worry is
from anxiety, and then he says,) and it
brings oppression, and it can't help you at all. There's no
value in unbelief at all. Say if you were going to be shot in the morning at
sunrise, it wouldn't help you any to worry about it, not a bit. It'd only just
make it worse on you. So you can't do that. It's not good to do it."Well,"
you say, "what does faith do?" "What does the Word of God
do?" It creates a faith. "Well, what could faith do if
you was going to be shot in the morning?" It can deliver me, has done it many
times. Sure. See? There's no value in unbelief. All the value there is is in
faith, believing God's Word, taking God at His Word.
So you
see the world is groping in obsessive compulsive disorder. The Entire DNC is
obsessive compulsive with Trump derangement syndrome. The media is obsessed
with it as well. They don’t know how they can deal with it. But if they walked
with God they would say, what’s the big deal, just set back and watch what
takes place. There is nothing that is out of order, everything is right on time
with God’s plan.
People
worry about a recession coming, or worse yet a depression coming, but what good
does it do to worry about it, get faith and you will overcome it. Get faith,
rupturing Faith and you won’t have to worry about any depression.
You know,
many times you may have a nemesis on the job, a person that seems to have it
out for you. Or you may know someone who finds fault with everything you do. So
what do you do about it? Just turn it over to God and let it go. Let God take
your hand and walk you through it. That’s the best thing we can do. Because
every time you give them back what they gave you, it just gets worse.
President
Trump says “if you punch me, I will punch you back and even harder.” But if he
would just forget about the slams he gets daily and focus on what he is in
office to do, he would end up nullifying his opponents, because that is what
Jesus said to do.
Matthew
5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy
neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse
you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use
you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in
heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth
rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do
not even the publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others?
do not even the publicans so? 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in
heaven is perfect.
Look how
Jesus did it sand then do the same.
We read
in Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,
yet he opened not his mouth: he
is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is
dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
Oh, God
may that be so with me. May I come to the place when someone calls me a name,
that I will just let it go and pray for that person, and just walk away. That
is my prayer.
Evening messenger
63-0116 P:74 We call it the Devil. I got
the Bible to prove that it's a devil: devil possession, demon possession
(not oppression), possession; he's got you. That's right. Tell them
about it? They'll blow up. They want nothing to do with it. No, sir. They
got their own ideas, because at their morgue they go to they never rebuke it.
Sex appeal is practiced in schools and in churches, and pastors are afraid to
rebuke it.
So why
bother telling them. Let them alone. Just walk with God. Enock wasn’t worried
about who was or was not walking with him. He just walked with God.
And John
told us in 1 John 1:7 “if you walk in the light as He is in the light,
you have fellowship one with another and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses you
from all sin”, (from all unbelief).
So just
walk with Him. Moses had a couple million people to worry about, but Enoch just
himself and His walk with God. And who went up in a rapture? Enoch.
There are
many Scriptures that show how others oppress the people, and the oppression
wherewith they oppress them. But we can be the source of our own oppression.
Sometimes we get a feeling and then amplify it to others and we bring our own
oppression onto them, and then wonder why they treat us with disrespect. Its
our own oppression, our own anxiety we have and we cast that on others
expecting them to feel the same and I’m telling you they won’t so don’t get
upset if they can’t see what you see, or if they don’t feel led to enter into
your obsession. Get over it. Turn it over to God. He cares for you, so cast all your care upon
Him.
In his
sermon Queen of Sheba 60-0110 P:49 brother
Branham talks about the man that was so possessed why the devil that the devil
actually used his voice to speak to Jesus. “But he would do it
just to be mean to make me feel bad. You know, there's people like that in the
world, will just make fun of you just to make you feel bad, say
something evil about you. It isn't a person; it's the devil in that person.
That's all. That person loves his wife just the same as you love yours and so
forth, likes to eat, and sleep, and drink, and be sociable, and things... But they
just do it because the devil has control of them. That maniac in Gadara,
that man loved and everything, but he was so possessed of the devil, until
the devil used his tongue to speak, "We
know thee, thou holy one of God. Why do you come to torment us?" That wasn't that man; it was the devil using
his voice.vAnd a man can be so full of God, till God can use your
voice, too. Did you ever notice a maniac, take several men to hold him; his power's so great, because
he's so possessed with the devil. This man could break chains.
If the devil can give a man that much power, how much more can He can give you
in these wheelchairs, power of His Spirit to rise? Wheelchairs or nothing could
hold you, if God really gets a hold, not when a preacher gets a hold. But when
a God gets a hold something takes place. Now, I'm not beside myself; I know
right where I am. But I just feel religious. If God really could take a hold of
this church tonight, what would take place? He's here. His Spirit is here. He wants to do it. He
longs to do it. If we'll just let Him. "I can if you will."
In this
next quote brother Branham shows us that this is the condition of the whole
human race. Baptism of the holy spirit 58-0928M
P:22 And
when the whole thing begins to leak out and the righteous seed begins setting
on the side getting thinner and thinner, and the wicked just keep on (very
religious), just keep getting wicked and wickeder and wickeder, there's nothing
to do but destroy the whole thing like He did back there in the antediluvian
destruction. Every thought of man is continually
full of sin. Everything man thinks about today
is a bottle of whiskey, or some woman, or out running around. Can't live true
to their wives; the boys can't live true to their girls; girls can't live true
to the boys. Why they're in such a place till the devil's got them so
bound and possessed with evil spirits, the whole thing's become a conglomeration of sin.
That's the reason we're in the day, and that's the reason Russia is playing
exactly in the hands of God to rock this thing out here. The Bible says so.
Certainly, God's using Communism. He will use it. And Communism will destroy
the entire thing according to the Scripture, and we're in that day.
Now, in
closing lets go to the prayer line and see how brother Branham handled those
with this obsessive oppression.
From his
sermon Faith 56-0427 P:87 Never seeing you
and never knowing you, the first thing I know that you're not from around here.
You've come from somewhere else. That's right. You come from the south coming
this a way (That's right.), down about Mississippi--down in the southlands.
Then... And you're bothered with a disturbance. It's a mental disturbance.
It's an oppression,
and you're the wife of a minister, and your husband has got the same thing,
and what's caused you to be this way is because of your husband. That's right,
and you're having family trouble. Up right ready for a divorce, and your
husband is kinda possessed. He's let Satan come in and take him over.

His unfailing words of
promise 64-0120 P:52 How do you do? You're really
pressed... That man's suffering right there with oppression also, kinda gray-headed,
with a gray suit on, setting, looking at me, have oppression, don't you, sir?
It's left you now. It's
all over. Praise be to God. What did he touch? Not me. That even
give that man behind him some courage.
Perseverant 63-0802 P:91
All right, sir. I believe you're one of the
ministers who set on the platform here. As far as knowing you, I don't. Jesus
Christ knows your heart. He knows what's in man. Do you believe that? If God
will tell me what your trouble is, then are you ready? You are. You ministers
know this man, I believe? [Someone says, "Brother Turner."--Ed.]
Yeah. All right, you know him. All right, the thing of it is, that you're
really, the trouble is, you're suffering from a nervous breakdown. You're
having some kind of mental scruples in your mind. It's oppression from Satan. This has
been going on for some time. It's caused your body to get weak. Your heart's
weak. You're in a very bad shape. By this, your whole family's just about into
a breakdown. Sir, you've been waiting for a word, haven't you? Do you accept
my word? Then, in the Name of Jesus Christ, I send you home to be well.
That devil come out. Are you believing? Do you believe?
Speak to the rock
60-0723 P:64 Do you believe with all your
heart? "If thou canst believe..." I see a lady setting right back through this a way. She's
suffering. She's got
oppression. She's got a breakdown. It's a nervous condition, a
mental condition. Oh, if the woman could only catch it. God, tell me who
she is. Please do. Her name is Mrs. Adams. Mrs. Adams, believe with all your
heart, and Jesus Christ will make you well. Do you believe it with all your
heart? You accept your healing? Don't be scared. If you're scared, you'll
always be in that estate. It a mental oppression. But don't doubt.
Believe with all your heart. Will you do it? Then stand up on your feet, Mrs.
Adams. Stand up on your feet. Stand up, right here and be healed in the Name of
Jesus Christ. I rebuke that devil that's a bothering you to try to keep you
from it. The devil's a lying to you. You're going to be all right. Go home and

Discerning body of Lord
59-0812 P:69 Lord God, Creator of heavens
and earth, Author of Everlasting Life, make Satan turn loose of every believer
in here. They've got their hands laid on one another, and they are believers.
They're having faith in God that they believe that You'll do it. Oh Lord, Your
words cannot fail no more than Your promises, and Your promises was, "If
they lay their hands on the sick, they shall recover."Now, Satan, you foul demon of oppression that's beating these
people down to the dust, I adjure thee by the Name of Jesus Christ, the Son of
the living God, that you turn them loose. Come out of them in the Name
of Jesus Christ.
And you
know oppression and depression are such a strong spirit of deception that
sometimes when you are entering a large city you can feel it. I know I felt it
coming into Toronto years ago, that feeling was so strong it scared me. And
brother Branham mentions this in his sermon called Strait is the gate
59-0301M P:67 where he said, “When you walk into the city here, it seems like... I
don't say this any disregards to you people; you're Christian, you love me. You
walk into the city here, and it seems like the power of Satan knocks you
down. This place is condemned. This city's condemned. What did
Billy Graham say? When he entered Louisville, he said that's the most
demon-powered place he had ever seen in his life. Placed it in the paper, said
the--"You can
just feel the oppression of the Devil."'Course, I'd feel
it. Why? This is my own home. When Jesus returned to His own home, He said,
"Many mighty works He could not do,
because of their unbelief." Said,
"A prophet's not without honor, a
preacher, unless it's in his own--in his own country, among his own people." See? You can't help it; the Scripture says so. See?
Second coming of the
Lord 57-0417 P:2 This is to fulfill a promise
that I made eleven years ago. A long time getting around to it, but to return
back to the Tabernacle for a revival. And, now, we know that our little
Tabernacle is insufficient in room for a revival, but we'll just jam in here,
and the best we can, for the next few nights, for the glory of God. And I love
to have a meeting in the church. Many places, we have them in stadiums, and out
in the outdoors, and in the arenas, but there's something different when you
have it in the church. There seems to be that it's a sweeter, closer fellowship
when you're in the church. Out in those arenas, worldly places, we are grateful
for the privilege of being out... [Blank spot on tape--Ed.] An oppression,
like a demon power, that you have to break through before the revival ever
starts. And then when you come into the church, it's a place where God
dwells; it's coming to His house to have a meeting.
So how do
you overcome that? Just let go and let God. Relax, because there is supposed to
be relaxation under the seventh seal. We should be the most relaxed people on
earth knowing exactly what is to come.
Time tested faith
58-0530 P:72 You say, "Brother
Branham, you could've guessed that." All right. Let's see what else the
Lord would say. Whether He will or not, I don't know. He might. Yes. If the
audience can still hear my voice, the lady, I see, her nervous; she's
all... Oh, it's caused by... she got a fall and hurt her back. That's what caused
it. Another thing, you've been interested in a person you're praying for or
something. It's a young man. And that young man is bothered with spiritual
trouble. He's all nervous and just scared. He's just mentally shook up. It's
demon oppression. When you go to him, tell him not to worry,
'cause he's going to get over it. And you are over yours now. Your faith
has made you well. God bless you. You believe Him to be Christ? Now, you know
that there had to be some kind of a supernatural Being here. Now, if you
believe it's Christ, now be real reverent.
Handwriting on the wall
56-0902 P:21 Now, one day a broker came
by, and he saw a bunch of slaves working on a certain plantation, a hundred or more
slaves. And they were sad, because they were away from home. Many times they'd
whip them because they wouldn't work. They thought they'd never go home again,
babies they'd never see, papa and mama they'd never see, their relation they'd
never see. And they were very downcast as it's so easily to become, especially
when you're oppressed. That's what the devil likes to work on you and
oppress you. You know, that's a trick of the devil to oppress. But when
the Christian knows his legal rights (Amen.), when you can quote God's
Word, "I'll never leave thee nor forsake thee," that
takes all the oppression away. And the clouds begin to clear
back. But if you just know that God has promised and God's faithful, He can
keep His promise or He'd never promised it.
Let’s
just read two more promises of God before we close in prayer.
Isaiah Chapter 54
Verse 14 In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for
thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us
the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. A disciplined mind, disciplined by
the Word, because we always take everything back to the Word.
