What the Holy Ghost was Given for no 18

Little Messiettes

Brian Kocourek, Pastor

This evening I would like to begin by reading again from brother Branham's sermon, What the Holy Ghost was Given for and we will pick up tonight at paragraph 42   Now, notice, Here's another thing I'd like to say right here. "As--" Jesus said, "as the Father has sent Me... As (Now, watch.)--as the Father has sent Me, so send I you." As the Father... How did the Father send Him? The Father that sent Him come down from heaven and dwelt in Him. He went forth; He said, "I always do that which pleases My Father." See? He went about doing the things that the Father was showing Him to do. "I do nothing except My Father shows Me first." The God that sent Him, was on the inside of Him. "And as the Father sent Me (the same way the Father sent Me), so I send you." What is it? God in you. Carrying on what? The same works, the same... Jesus said, "He that believeth (He that has Me on the inside of him, the Holy Spirit)--he that believeth (that's already witnessed My resurrection), and know that I'm in him... He that's in Me; if ye abide in Me, My words abide in you..."

43 Now, you say, "I abide in Jesus, but I sure don't believe in Divine healing." That shows He's not there." I believe in Jesus; don't believe no Holy Ghost in this day, not like they had It back there." That shows He isn't there. The Holy Spirit will bear record of every word It spoke. He's not a liar. He's not afraid of nobody or no organization. He don't have to take down for nobody. He speaks, and then He stays with it. If the high, and polluted, and educated, or as we'd call it, plutocrats, if they don't want to receive It, God's able of these stones to rise children to Abraham. He'll take gangsters, and bootleggers, and everything else, and rise it up. God can do it, and He is doing it. God's able of these stones to rise children to Abraham. Somebody's going to do it, 'cause He's God.

44   "If ye abide in Me and My Word's in you, ask what you will," because you're asking His Word, and His Word is Life. Speak it; if God said it and you're sure He said it, the Holy Ghost bears record that Word's right, then there you are, brother. Speak it. There it is. "Say to this mountain, 'Be moved.' Don't doubt in your heart, but believe that what you said's going to come to pass." It's not you that speaketh, but the Father that dwelleth in you, He doeth the talking. It's not you talking to that mountain; it's the Father that's in you speaking to that mountain; it has to move. "All heavens and earth will pass away," He said, "but My Spirit shall not, or My Word shall not pass away." Certainly, It cannot pass away. "Father..."

45   Now. "The works that I do..." God is in His church to continue His works. That's why He sent the Holy Ghost. Now, He knowed that. He knowed it wouldn't be, it couldn't be done that way, so was it by otherwise. So He had to send,  The Father sent the Son, put all that's in the Son in you. And the same works that He did, the same very works now that Jesus did, you'll do also, the church. Wouldn't you like to do the works of God? Jesus said, "If you want to do the works of God, believe on Me." How you believe on Him? You can't do it till you got the Holy Ghost, 'cause no man can say He is the Son of God. You're saying what somebody else said, "The Bible said that He's the Son of God; I believe the Bible." All right. "The Bible says He's the Son of God; I believe the Bible. The pastor says He's the Son of God; I believe the pastor. Mama says He's the Son of God; I believe Mama. My friend says He's the Son of God; I believe my friend." But the only way that I can say He's the Son of God, is when the Holy Ghost comes in and bears record of Itself. Then I know He's the Son of God. No man can call Jesus "Christ," only by the Holy Ghost. There. No man speaking by the Spirit of God called Jesus accursed or say He was something that day and something else today. That's makes Him weak and faultry. No, sir. He's the same yesterday, today, and forever. Any true spirit will bear record of that.

46   Now, He said, "These works that I do shall you also (John 14:12.)" Now, the same works...Oh, they say, "The church does a greater work today." In what manner? He said, "The works that I do." They say, "Well, we got missionaries all over the world; that's a greater work." But He said, "The works that I do." Now, do them; do them first, then talk about missionaries. Today... Speaking here some time ago, a Mohammedan, he said, "Mohammed is dead; that's right. He's in the grave, but someday he'll rise." He said, "If he rises from the grave, the whole world will know it in twenty-four hours." He said, "You people say Jesus has been raised two thousand years, and not one-third of the people know it yet." That's because that you spoke from an intellectual view of it. You spoke from a standpoint of school or education. If this whole, great church of God, counting Catholic, Protestant, altogether, had received the Holy Ghost, this world would be laying solid in Christianity. There wouldn't be such a thing as Communism. There wouldn't be such a thing as strife, or enmity, or meanness, or hatred. Jesus would be setting on His throne. We'd be walking through the Paradises of God with Eternal Life, living forever, already resurrected in a new body, walking around, never to be old, never to be gray, never to be sick, never to be hungry, walking in the joys of the Lord, talking with the animals, and... Oh, what a day.

47 But we've done everything else besides what He... He said, "Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel." What does the Gospel? Not Word only, but through power and demonstrations of the Holy Ghost. Making the Word of God manifest is the Gospel. You can't do it. Now, Jesus knowed that, that He had to live in His church; therefore, He knowed we'd have intellectual schools. And you'll never get this in an intellectual school. They'll be against it, because all they know is some smart man's learning, some creed (and a creed is a belief, it's a doctrine) or denomination they want to live by.

In other words, they are living for and by some doctrine that sets them apart from the others. That's all we have in this Message today. This Message is separated by doctrines. The doctrine of men have separated the Believers into camps. each doctrine has it's own camp. And that is death. That is intellectualism.  God wants to manifest His God Life in His children and the camps have separated the children and kept them from simply manifesting God life. The world doesn't need more doctrines to keep them separate. They need God's sons to manifest God life. And this is the hour God promised us the sons of God would manifest as sons of God. If you put that off until the millennium, you are saying no to the Life of God in you.

Now, back to what brother Branham is saying about their creeds,  "So they'll (that's the denominations, will) set you up in that (that's the creeds, the beliefs or doctrines they established their denomination by) and make you a member of that body, and, brother, quote some things to you out of a creed (that's their doctrine) that would seem like it was just perfect. "The great holy church, the mother, it stood a many a pound." So has the devil. He's been kicked out of everywhere there is nearly, and he's still going on just the same. Yes, sir. Oh, they'll try to quote these...

In other words, they will resort to reasoning and intellectual argument instead of manifesting God Life. Well, let me tell you something, God is not coming for those who understand all the mysteries,...

The Apostle Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

And that is the very doctrine, "speaking in tongues" that the different Pentecostal groups denominated over. And Paul says, It doesn't matter a hoot if you can speak in every known language of man, or even in the unknown languages of the angels, if you do not have Love it's just all noise. And we know that God is Love, and He is the Holy Ghost. Therefore, if you do not have the Holy Ghost and express the Love of God, because Love is not static, Love is expressive. Love must manifest or it is not love. And if you do not have this manifestation of God-Life, God-Love in your Life, what does it matter how many different languages you can speak, or what unknown tongues of angels you can speak in. It's all just folly and a bunch of noise.

And then Paul says, 2  And though I have the gift of prophecy, (that comes from a Greek word which means to foretell the future. So Paul is saying, although you may have an ability, or a gift to know the future, and foretell the future but without God-Life, expressed through God-Love you are still nothing.

And then he adds, And although you may be able to "And understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

And is not this what we see in the Message today? Now look, I am hammering on the Message people because I am trying to warn them because they are the only ones who can repent before it is too late. It's too late for all the denominations that have denominated around pet doctrines. Denominationalism is the mark of the beast.

So, God is no longer dealing with the Pentecostal denominations, they have already taken the mark of the beast.

And God is no longer dealing with the Holiness churches, the Wesleyan move, they have denominated around that beautiful Bible truth and have taken the mark of the beast.

And God is no longer dealing with those churches who have denominated around Luther's Message and only teach Justification, they have denominated around that doctrine and have taken the mark of the beast.

The Apostle Paul was telling us it matters not what we know, and what knowledge we may possess, and it matters not even if we understand all the mysteries, and have all knowledge, that's only intellectualism. And then he goes even deeper by saying, and it matters not how much faith you have. It matters not if you have enough faith to move mountains, If you do not express the Love of God, which is nothing else but true God-Life being expressed from your soul to others, you still have nothing.

So I would not get too excited about speaking the Word, or operation of the third pull until you get the Love of God expressing so much through you that when you do speak the Word it will be motivated by the Love of God which is shed abroad in your heart.  Because that is what the third pull is all about anyway.

People get excited to think they will one day speak this or that into existence, but that is not what John 14:12 is all about. It is not about what you can do, it's about expressing the Love of God so much in you that it can not but help express itself right out of you.

John 4:34 " My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work."

In  John 14:31 Jesus tells us about His love for the father and how he manifests that love. He says, "But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence."

In other words, the actions is not the end all. The actions is simply an expression of the Love of God that we have for our Father. The actions is the expression of God-Life, and God-love. And therefore John 14:12 is simply an expression of that same God-life, and God-love, or love for God.

Notice Jesus tells us in the next chapter John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, (if you do the things I ask of you to do, if you manifest the life expressions I ask you to manifest) ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.  It's all about expressing the Love we have for the father in doing what pleases him.  Jesus said in John 8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

John 14:21 He that hath (echoes) my commandments, and keepeth them, (he that keeps an eye upon my commandments, and guards them from loss by echoing them over and over again) he it is that loveth me: (His echoing them is an expression of His love for them and his love for me) and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

In other words, Jesus is saying, He that echoes what I say, I will love him, and that love for him will manifest itself and express itself through him. 22  Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, "Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?" 23  Jesus answered and said unto him, "If a man love me, he will keep my words:

He will focus on my words, and hold onto them, and show he possesses them by echoing them in what he says, and what he does and in the works that he will do, expressing the same God-Life that expresses itself in me.

"and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. 24  He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings:" (will not safe-guard my sayings and thus will not echo them) and yet the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. 25  These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. 26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

Notice the promise of eternal Life, God Life living in us and making His abode, his home in us, simply because we love His Word and express that love in that we echo His Word in what we say and do.

Now, let's go back to 1 Corinthians 13 and pick up at verse 3  "And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing."

Now, what we've read in 1 Corinthians 13 is that that although man may accomplish many different ways of expressing his religion, some through acquiring knowledge, some through long hours of study concerning the mysteries, and that is the intellectual route, and then he also says, some will use the mode of faith, and reach out and press into all forms of faith, and then he says here in verse 3 that some will make all sorts of personal sacrifice, feeding the poor, burning their bodies, yet all these different modes of religious expression, still do not express God-Love and thus God-Life..

He tells us here that although we might come to the place and do all of these, yet if our motive is not God-love, God-Life doing them, then it is all in vain.

And so we hear brother Branham telling us in paragraph 48   "So Jesus knowed that there'd be a great intellectual move just like there was in His days, intellectual, washing of pots and pans, and wearing of clothes, and turned-around collars, and everything as they did, all these different things that they would do. He knowed they'd do that. So He said, "Now, just wait a minute. I'm going to not leave you comfortless; I'm coming again to be with you. Therefore," He said, "the works that I do, you'll do also." The purpose of sending the Holy Ghost was for God to continue through a bunch of people, to continually manifest God to the world (That's exactly.), not by a creed, (a creed is what you believe, in other words, he is saying, not by doctrine) not by a denomination, but by the power of His resurrection, by making His Word real, by taking His promise and standing (remember, Jesus said, "he that keepeth my Word") on the side of the minority and believing God; and watch the black skies move back and the power of God move in and take over. Amen. That's what He wants. That's what the Holy Ghost was sent for. That's what purpose He sent It for. We know what It is now. And that's why He sent It.

That is why brother Branham could say, "God interprets His Own Word by bringing it to pass." God vindicates it by making it a reality or an actuality. God actualizes His Own Word. He brings it to Life all around you. That is a promise from God himself.

Romans 8:11  But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken (or make alive) your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Now, there are 18 Scriptures that tell us that "God that raised up Jesus from the dead," so Paul is talking about The Spirit of God dwelling in you for the purpose of making your body come alive to His Word.

And then if you actually see that Word come to pass, and you know it is the Word which God had promised for this day, then when you see it, it is revealed to you, and when it's revealed to you, it becomes your own. Because God promised us that whatsoever is revealed belongs to you and to your children.

Deuteronomy 29:29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

And never forget the definition of the word "revelation" means "manifestation of Divine truth". Therefore the reason it now belongs to you and your children is because you echo it in your life, you are a reflector of the revelation through the manifestation of the Life in you. and your children see that Life manifested in you and they enter into that same Life manifestation.

Colossians 3:4 "When Christ Who is our Life shall Appear, then shall ye also Appear with Him in DOXA."

How else could we Manifest with Him. He is the Word. Then we must become a perfect reflection of that same Word in order to manifest as He Manifests. "In Him was Life and the Life was the Light of men".

Notice that he said, "the Life is the Light of men". His Life, is His Light, His Word. If He then is our Life, then our Life must come from His Word.

Therefore when His Word manifests Itself, our Life must also manifest the same thing.

That is why the Apostle Paul said, it is not really our life but His Life in us that is manifesting. Jesus said, "My words are Spirit and they are Life." Then what is manifesting? It can only be His Word.

Hebrews 10: 22 - 23 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23  Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

That's exactly what Jesus said, "he that keepeth my Word", "he that safe guards my word", and Paul said, Let us hold fast... "Let us draw near with a TRUE heart in full assurance." That is what we all want. Full assurance. That is why brother Branham told us that the vindicated Word will produce something in our lives that will take over and that will be an evidence to us that we are indeed God Seed. He said, "My action and the vindication of God's Word in my life shows whether I'm a child of God or not."

He did not say, "my actions alone", no, that is works. But "my action AND ...and is a conjunction that links the two thoughts together. My actions is one thought and the Vindicated Word in My life is the other thought. So what he is saying here is "The vindicated Word in my life will produce an action in my life and those two together will show I have God-Life in Me". Because let's face it. A seed that never comes forth no matter how much you give it light and water, if it still does not manifest any life then it is only a husk or a shuck. But when the seed manifests Life, due to the Vindicated Word shining upon it, then that Seed by manifesting Life shows it has Life.

And we read in 1 John 2:17 "And the world will pass away, and the lusts thereof: but He that DOETH the will of the God abideth for ever." That means he will live for ever. God Life that can not perish. And Jesus said in Revelations Chapter 22: "Blessed are they that do all His commandments, that they might have a right to enter into Life, the Tree of Life."

So when brother Branham says, " My action and the vindication of God's Word in my life shows whether I'm a child of God or not." And the word to show means "to reveal, manifest or make evident ones character in a given situation."

So, I guess then if we want to really have an assurance of our position in Christ, we need to look at how we react to His Word. If we can't get enough of His Word, no matter how hard it may seem at times, then we have assurance that we are His because Jesus said, "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst for right - wise - ness, for they shall be filled." So then our hungering and thirsting is evidence that we shall be filled. Then, if we are hungering and thirsting, we have assurance that God will fill us, and it is not for us to fill ourselves with His Spirit because in Romans 15:13 Paul said, "Now the God of hope Fill you..." and in Ephesians 1: 23 He said, "it is God that filleth all in all."

So if it God doing the filling, then he which began the work in you will complete it.

I would like to leave one final quote with you tonight before we turn the order of service from  preaching to communion and foot-washing.

Brother Branham said,  From his sermon, The Messiah 61-0117 P:62 They look like him. They act like him. They are his flesh, his blood, his spirit. Amen. That's the way God's church is, His Eaglets, His Messiahettes. They look like Him; they act like Him; they preach like Him; they do the works that He did. "The things that I do shall he also. More than this shall he do, 'cause I go to the Father." Amen. "These signs shall follow My eaglets." Amen "They'll do just as I do. If My Spirit's in them, then they'll do the works that I do. If they don't do the works I do, it's because that My Spirit's not in them."

Let us pray...
