LOOK # 29

You must come Gods way

JULY 5, 1992 EVENING

PP. 148A) <read>

IF YOU'VE NEVER REPENTED, REPENT IF YOU'VE NEVER BEEN BAPTIZED IN
THE  NAME OF JESUS CHRIST, BE BAPTIZED. YOU'VE GOT A  PROMISE  OF
GOD THAT YOU'LL RECEIVE THE HOLY GHOST.

ACTS 2:37 - 39 <read> This scripture speaks of three things.

1: REPENTANCE

2: BE BAPTIZED IN THE CORRECT FORMULAQ

3: YOU SHALL RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST

You must come God's provided way or don't bother to come at all,

because you won't receive the promise any other way than what  He
said.

Most  people  think, "If I get baptized in the name of  the  Lord
Jesus Christ, He promised to give me the gift of the Holy  Ghost.
But that's not what He said.

He  said you've got to repent and then show forth a sign of  that
repentance by total immersion which signifies that you have  died
out  to your own thinking and then you shall receive the Gift  of
God.

Tonight  by  God's  Grace we want to  examine  this  formula  for
receiving  the promise of God, because you could be  baptized  in
the  correct name of the Lord Jesus Christ and still not  receive
the Baptism in the Spirit. If you don't fully repent you will  go
down  a dry sinner and come back up a wet one, so what good  does
baptism then do you.

# 1) REPENTANCE.

AS I THOUGHT ON MY WAY 6-15-59

"We cannot alter God's Word, we have to alter our thinking to His
thinking.  Let  the mind of Christ be in you. Then  you'll  think
like He thinks."

I COR 10: 1 - 6 <read>

What good did baptism do for them?

ACTS 2: 28 <read> REPENT! What is it? REPENT = met an oeo

It  means  to think differently. You've got to have a  change  of
heart.

II COR 7: 8 - 10 <read>

Repentance is not sorrow, but a change of the heart.

HEBREWS 12: 16 - 17 <read>

ACTS 10: 34 - 11:18 <read>

The Holy Ghost fell upon these men even while Peter yet spake.

Notice ACTS 11: 18 It is repentance unto LIFE.

MATT 3: 8 <read>

If  you  ar etruly repentant, if you have truly come to  a  place
where you are willing to let your own thinking go-then there must
be  outward signs in your life as an evidence to your  change  of
the mind.

EZ 11: 19 - 21 <read>

HEART = LEB , stony unmoveable, stubborn, obstinate. Very  widely
used  for  the feelings; the will; even  the  intellect.  Mostly

used for the understanding.

EZ 36: 26 - 27 <read>.

So  we see the 1st requirement of God is that you must  truly  be
willing to change your thinking.

#2) BAPTISM IN THE NAME OF THE LORD

What is Baptism? BAPTO = BAPTIZO = BAPTISMA.

To make whelmed. Full immersion. A cleansing by washing. To  make
clean.  In  fact  we see it in the O.T. also as  we  see  namaan
washed clean by immersion.

EPH 4: 5 There is only one Baptism. So It does matter how you are
Baptized.

ACTS 19: 1- 7 <read>

We  see here that these men had been baptized and Paul told  them
to be rebaptized correctly.

COL 2: 12 <read> Buried.

ROM 6: 3 - 4 <read> Synonymous with death. A dying to oneself.

GAL 3: 27 <read> Put on the new man.

I PETER 3: 18 - 21 <read> An outward sign of an inward work.

# 3) HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM - the Promise!

ACTS 2: 38 <read>

The seed must be buried in the ground before it can come forth in
a newness of life manifesting what life it had on the inside.

So what is this HOLY SPIRIT that they receive?
